  • It has been estimated that 'RFID' technology would be playing an important role in the incoming ubiquitous environment. For this reason, many studies on 'RFID' have been conducted and its application has been on the increase in various fields such as finance, medicine, transportation and culture as well as in logistics distribution. However, the communication between Tag and Reader in RFID system has been conducted by wireless communication of radio frequency so that the information on identification could be eavesdropped by the third party maliciously. Such eavesdropped information could be also used as basic information in attacking others; in this regard, it could impair the privacy of its users and the users have avoided using 'RFID.' To solve theses problems, many studies are being performed to different output of tags by renewing ID. However, protocols have been devised without considering an ID Synchronization in the ID renewal process between database and tag in the existing studies. In this regard, this study has suggested a RFID Authentication Protocol while considering the ID Synchronization.

  • In this paper, we suggested a new antenna structure for the RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) reader. The conventional RFID reader uses a loop antenna. The central area of a loop antenna shows a low magnetic field strength, especially for the case of a large loop antenna diameter. We proposed a parallel-fed multiple loop antenna. Simulation and measurement were carried out for a single loop antenna, series-fed and parallel-fed multiple loop antennas. Simulation results show that we can obtain 0.40A/m, 0.68A/m, 1.98A/m of magnetic field strengths at the central point of a reader antenna for a single loop antenna, series-fed and parallel-fed multiple loop antennas, respectively. We measured the $79mm{\time}48mm$ tag area averaged induced voltages with applying 20Vp-p same source signals to reader antennas through the resistors. Measured tag area averaged induced voltages at the central point of a reader antennas were 0.76V, 1.45V, 4.04V for a single loop antenna series-fed and parallel-fed multiple loop antennas, respectively. The results show that we can get high induced voltage which can grantee a longer reading distance with a proposed parallel-fed multiple loop antenna.

  • IT investment is usually very costly and takes a long time to get the results out of investment. However, most of currently available evaluation methods for IT investment are based upon short-term effects, hence their results are not fully trustworthy. In addition, those methods commonly consider only financial aspects such as ROI. For more reliable evaluation, it is necessary to consider non-financial factors such as system utilization, customer satisfaction, public relations, and so on, as well as financial factors. In this research, we propose an evaluation method that can evaluate both financial and non-financial aspects on a long-term base. For this purpose, we employed the research results developed in System dynamics and Balanced scorecard. System dynamics is useful in analyzing long term behavior of a given system, and Balanced scorecard is useful for evaluating both financial and non-financial aspects. We demonstrated the usefulness of our method by applying it to the evaluation of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) investment in a distribution and retail industry. From this application, we found that RFID investment may not be rewarding in the short term, but is sure to be returning the income relative to its investment in the long run.

  • In this paper, the design method for a high-sensitivity compact resonator for chipless RFID tags is proposed. Proposed high-sensitivity compact resonator uses an interdigital-capacitor structure instead of a capacitor-shaped strip structure in a conventional ELC resonator. The length of the electrode plate of the IDC structure is longer than that of the conventional capacitor-shaped structure, resulting in a larger equivalent capacitance of the resonator. This can lower the resonant peak frequency of the RCS characteristic. Two resonators with the same length of the square loop and the width of the strip are fabricated on an RF-301 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The experiment results show that the resonant peak frequency and value of the bistatic RCS for the ELC resonator were 4.305 GHz and -30.39 dBsm, whereas those of the proposed IDC resonator were 3.295 GHz and -36.91 dBsm. Therefore, the size of the resonator is reduced by 23.5% based on the measured resonant peak frequency of the RCS characteristic.

  • Data entered into RFID tags are used for saving costs and enhancing competitiveness in the development of applications in various industrial areas. RFID readers perform the identification and search of hundreds of objects, which are tags. RFID technology that identifies objects on request of dynamic linking and tracking is composed of application components supporting information infrastructure. Despite their many advantages, existing applications, which do not consider elements related to real.time data communication among remote RFID devices, cannot support connections among heterogeneous devices effectively. As different network devices are installed in applications separately and go through different query analysis processes, there happen the delays of monitoring or errors in data conversion. The present study implements a RFID database handling system in semantic Web environment for integrated management of information extracted from RFID tags regardless of application. Users’ RFID tags are identified by a RFID reader mounted on an application, and the data are sent to the RFID database processing system, and then the process converts the information into a semantic Web language. Data transmitted on the standardized semantic Web base are translated by a smart browser and displayed on the screen. The use of a semantic Web language enables reasoning on meaningful relations and this, in turn, makes it easy to expand the functions by adding modules.

  • Based on a de-embedding technique, a new method is proposed which is capable of evaluating chip impedance behavior over absorbed power in flip-chip bonded UHF radio frequency identification transponder ICs. For the de-embedding, four compact co-planar test fixtures, an equivalent circuit for the fixtures, and a parameter extraction procedure for the circuit are developed. The fixtures are designed such that the chip can absorb as much power as possible from a power source without radiating appreciable power. Experimental results show that the proposed modeling method is accurate and produces reliable chip impedance values related with absorbed power.

  • Real-time monitoring and controlling manufacturing process is important because of the unexpected events. When unexpected event like mechanical trouble occurs, prior plan becomes unacceptable and a new schedule must be generated though manufacturing schedule is already decided for order. Regenerating the whole schedule, however, spends much time and cost. Thus automated system which monitors and controls manufacturing process is required. In this paper, we present a system which uses radio-frequency identification and computer vision system. The system collect real-time information about manufacturing conditions and generates new schedule quickly with those information.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)은 RF주파수를 이용해서 사물이나 사람의 정보를 인식하는 자동인식 기술이다.
