The domestic unique research reactor, HANARO (Hi-flux Advanced Neutron Application ReactOr), has been constructed with the open-pool, the core is submerged in, for the multi-purpose neutron application. The reactor has a primary cooling system to remove the fission heat from the core and its connected fluidic systems. Since the works are required at the reactor pool top as a characteristic of the research reactor, the radiation shall be minimized with the operation of the hot water layer system to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure on the workers during work at the pool top. Moreover, the pool water management system is connected to the reactor pool to maintain the pool temperature below $50^{\circ}C$ to minimize the uprising radioactive gas or impurity from the colder pool bottom. For the efficient flow rate of the PWMS, the thermal capacity of heat exchanger is selected with 260 kW in the normal operation condition. In this paper, the modeling is formulated to figure out whether or not each pool temperature maintains below the temperature limit and the calculation results show that the designed PWMS heat exchanger has enough capacity with the design margin regardless of the reactor operation mode.

In this paper, the quad-band antenna for mobile handsets is proposed and developed. The operating frequency bands include GSM(880 MHz${\~}$960 MHz), GPS(1,575 MHz$\pm$10 MHz), DCS(1,710 MHz${\~}$l,880MHz), and PCS(1,850 MHz${\~}$l,990 MHz). The proposed antenna consists of a feed line, a shorting post, and a radiating element of the feed loop. The multi-band operation is achieved by using the fundamental and higher resonant modes of the radiating element. Based on analysis of the current distribution on the radiator, the resonant frequency of each mode can be adjusted by adding the different sizes of slots on the radiator. The radiator of the feed loop is designed to be symmetrical so that the energy is symmetrically distributed on the radiator, which results in omni-directional radiation pattern. The ground plane under the radiator is removed in order to improve the bandwidth. The measured impedance bandwidths are $10.1\%$ in GSM band(VSWR<2.5), $26.8\%$ in GPS band, and DCS/US-PCS bands(VSWR<2.5), respectively. The maximum gains on the H-plane of the fabricated antenna are measured about -0.37 dBi${\~}$2.55 dBi for all operating frequency bands.

Since the dynamic behaviors of liquid storage tanks on flexible soil are significantly influenced by the fluid-structure-soil interaction (FSSI), its effects must be rigorously considered for accurate earthquake analysis and seismic design of the storage system. In this study, dynamic analysis is performed for a rectangular liquid storage tank on flexible soil, and its dynamic characteristics are examined by rigorously considering the effects of FSSI. The hydrodynamic force and the interaction force between the structure and soil are evaluated using the finite-element approach. In the evaluations, mid-point integrated finite elements and viscous dampers are considered for energy radiation into the infinite soil. The effective earthquake force is then obtained from free-field analysis. It is thus demonstrated that the earthquake responses of the rectangular liquid storage tank on flexible soil are significantly influenced by the FSSI.

This study compared the aortic root image by using the ECG gating and non-ECG gating methods. We observed the presence or absence of progression of the aortic root image in the images examined by the high pitch (flash) chest pain protocol method and in the patients tested without ECG gating by the conventional method. The AAPM phantom was scanned by using high pitch (flash) chest pain protocol and general chest pain protocol. CTDI values were compared. By ECG gating, the blurring of ascending aorta was significantly reduced compared to the existing non-ECG gating test method, and the image quality of the aortic root was improved. Within the parametar range that did not show differences in noise, uniformity, and high contrast resolution, CTDI values were lower when tested with the high-pitch chest pain protocol. It was found that there is an advantage in dose reduction, and if it is applied and applied to diagnostic fields such as dissection using the dose reduction mode in the cardiac field, it is a very important test for patients who need rapid diagnosis and prompt treatment as well as a dramatic reduction in exposure dose. It is presumed to be a method.

The high-level nuclear waste (HLW) repository is exposed to complex environmental conditions consisting of high temperature, high humidity, and radiation, resulting in structural deterioration. Therefore, structural health monitoring is essential, and piezo sensors are used to detect cracks and estimate strength. However, since the monitoring sensors installed in the disposal tunnel and disposal container cannot be replaced or removed, the quantitative life of the monitoring sensor and its suitability must be assessed. In this study, the life of a piezo sensor for monitoring was assessed using an accelerated life test (ALT). The failure mode and mechanism of the piezo sensor under high temperature conditions were determined, and temperature stress's influence on the piezo sensor's life was analyzed. ALT was conducted on temperature stress and the relationship between temperature stress and piezo sensor life was suggested. The life of the piezo sensor was assessed using the Weibull probability distribution and the Arrhenius acceleration model. The suggested relationship can be used in multiple stress ALT designs for more precise life assessment.

Nonlinear characteristics of cellular counterflow diffusion flame near the radiative extinction limit at large Damk$\ddot{o}$hler number are numerically investigated. Lewis number is assumed to be 0.5 and flame evolution is calculated by imposing an infinitesimal disturbance to a one-dimensional(1-D) steady state flame. The early stage of nonlinear development is very similar to that predicted in a linear stability analysis. The disturbance with the wavenumber of the fastest growing mode emerges and grows gradually. Eventual, an alternating pattern of reacting and quenching stripes is developed. The cellular flame temperature is higher than that of 1-D flame because of the gain of the total enthalpy. As the Damk$\ddot{o}$hler number is further increased, the shape of the cell becomes circular to increase the surface area per unit reacting volume. The cellular flames do not extinguish but survive even above the 1-D steady state extinction condition.

The eigenvalue problems involving the diffraction of waves by multi-layered grating configurations can be explained by rigorous modal expansion terms. Such a modal solution can be represented by equivalent transmission-line networks, which are generalized forms of simple conventional circuits. This approach brings considerable physical insight into the grating diffraction process of the fields everywhere. In particular, the transmission-line representation can serve as a template for computational algorithms that systematically evaluate dispersion properties, radiation effects and other optical characteristics that are not readily obtained by other methods. To illustrate the validity of the present rigorous approach, the previous research works are numerically confirmed and the results agree well each other.

In this paper, we propose a open-ended rectangular microstirp patch antenna with fork-shaped feeding structure. This antenna extends the effective bandwidth by transforming single or multi resonant frequency and is designed planar monopole structure with microstrip line to satisfy the WLAN bands (2.4 - 2.484, 5.15 - 5.35, 5.25-5.825 GHz). The substrate is printed in 0.8 mm thickness on an FR-4 board. A commercial 3D simulation tool was used to analyze surface current and electromagnetic field distribution in order to analyze the operation mode and reconfiguration principle of antenna. According to the lengths of individual patches, simulated reflection loss was compared to obtain optimized values. When it was designed with the optimized values, it satisfied WLAN bands (2.380 - 2.710, 4.900 - 5.950 GHz), if the switch is off, and 2.4 WLAN band (2.380 - 2.710 GHz). From the fabricated and measured results, measured results of return loss, gain and radiation patterns characteristics displayed for operating bands.

Controversy has surrounded the potential impacts of phytoplankton on the tropical climate, since climate models produce diverse behaviors in terms of the equatorial mean state and El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) amplitude. We explored biophysical impacts on the tropical ocean temperature using an ocean general circulation model coupled to a biogeochemistry model in which chlorophyll can modify solar attenuation and in turn feed back to ocean physics. Compared with a control model run excluding biophysical processes, our model with biogeochemistry showed that subsurface chlorophyll concentrations led to an increase in sea surface temperature (particularly in the western Pacific) via horizontal accumulation of heat contents. In the central Pacific, however, a mild cold anomaly appeared, accompanying the strengthened westward currents. The magnitude and skewness of ENSO were also modulated by biophysical feedbacks resulting from the chlorophyll affecting El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ and La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$ in an asymmetric way. That is, El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ conditions were intensified by the higher contribution of the second baroclinic mode to sea surface temperature anomalies, whereas La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$ conditions were slightly weakened by the absorption of shortwave radiation by phytoplankton. In our model experiments, the intensification of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ was more dominant than the dampening of La $Ni{\tilde{n}}a$, resulting in the amplification of ENSO and higher skewness.

In this paper, parasitic resonance modes generated in a conductor backed coplanar wave guide(CBCPW) and stripline band pass filter(BPF) and the oscillation phenomena of a 40 GHz power amplifier module(PAM) are analyzed and several methods to suppress them are presented for low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) based millimeter-wave RF System-in-Package(SiP) applications. Parasitic rectangular wave guide(RWG) modes of the CBCPW structure are completely suppressed in the operation frequency band by decreasing the distance between its vias and by increasing the mode frequency. In the stripline structure, RWG resonance modes are clearly eliminated by removing some vias facing each other and by placing them diagonally. In the case of the 40 GHz PAM, in order to reduce a cross talk due to radiation that is generated from interconnection discontinuities, high isolation structures such as embedded DC bas lines and CPW signal lines are used and then the oscillated PAM is improved.
