Unified equivalent frame method for flat plate slab structures under combined gravity and lateral loads - Part 1: derivation

  • The equivalent frame method (EFM) is widely used for the design of two-way reinforced concrete slab structures, and current design codes of practice permit the application of the EFM in analyzing the flat plate slab structures under gravity and lateral loads. The EFM was, however, originally developed for the flat plate structures subjected to gravity load, which is not suitable for lateral loading case. Therefore, this study, the first part of series research paper, proposed the structural analysis method for the flat plate slab structures under the combined gravity and lateral loads, which is named as the unified equivalent frame method (UEFM). In the proposed method, some portion of rotation induced in the torsional member is distributed to the flexibility of the equivalent columns, and the remaining portion is contributed to that of the equivalent slabs. In the consecutive companion paper, the proposed UEFM is verified by comparing with test results of multi-span flat plate structures. Also, a simplified nonlinear push-over analysis method is proposed, and verified by comparing to test results.

  • In case of PAS test, the air is sometimes leaked although the mask is tightly attached to the face, which is not reliable on the measured values. Therefore, this study aimed to assist the clinical practice suggesting the test method of PAS without air leakage. In the healthy subjects with 12 males and 12 females over 19 years old, three types of tests were performed on the voicing efficiency among the protocol of PAS Model 6600. They are; first, to attach the mask tightly to the face holding the handle of PAS with the subject's two hands (Method 1); second, to attach the mask tightly to the face holding the handle of PAS with the subject's one hand and pushing the body of PAS strongly with the other hand (Method 2); and third, to attach the mask tightly to the face pushing the upper part of the mask by the tester when the subject attached the mask to his or her face holding the handle of PAS with two hands (Method 3). Upon the study analyses, the mean negative pressure, the mean phonogram, subglottic air pressure, and voicing efficiency were shown to be statistically significantly different during PAS test in males depending on the methods. (p<.05) In case of females, only the target airflow rate showed significant difference depending on the methods during PAS test. (p<.001) In conclusion, Method 2 enhanced the noise level and strength while Method 1 was likely to leak the air more compared to the other two methods in males. In case of females, Method 1 showed significant leakage of the air flow. Not to allow the air flow leakage without affecting the outcome of PAS test, it will be the most useful for the tester to push the mask to the subject's face tightly (Method 3).

Analysis of the MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) Operational Parameters

  • The MSC is a payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The instrument images the earth using a push-broom motion with a swath width of 15 km and a GSD(Ground Sample Distance) of 1 m over the entire FOV(Field Of View) at altitude 685 km. The instrument is designed to haute an on-orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/offset and on-board image data compression/storage. The MSC instrument has one channel for panchromatic imaging and four channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI(Time Belayed Integration) CCD(Charge Coupled Device) FPA(Focal Plane Assembly). The MSC hardware consists of three subsystem, EOS(Electro Optic camera Subsystem), PMU(Payload Management Unit) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem) and each subsystems are currently under development and will be integrated and verified through functional and space environment tests. Final verified MSC will be delivered to spacecraft bus for AIT(Assembly, Integration and Test) and then COMSAT-2 satellite will be launched after verification process through IST(Integrated Satellite Test). In this paper, the introduction of MSC, the configuration of MSC electronics including electrical interlace and design of CEU(Camera Electronic Unit) in EOS are described. MSC Operation parameters induced from the operation concept are discussed and analyzed to find the influence of system for on-orbit operation in future.

초고성능 콘크리트 바닥판을 위한 스터드 전단연결재의 정적 거동 (Static Behavior of Stud Shear Connector for UHPC Deck)

  • 합성보는 콘크리트 바닥판과 강재 거더로 이루어져 왔으나, 바닥판의 자중을 줄이면서 내구성을 향상시키고 나아가 교량의 강도 및 강성을 향상시키기 위하여 초고성능 콘크리트(UHPC)를 교량 바닥판으로 채용한 합성보가 최근에 제안되고 있다. 이 연구는 기존의 스터드 전단연결재가 UHPC 바닥판을 합성함에 있어 유효한지에 관하여 실험적으로 검토해보고자 한다. 12개의 push-out 시험체를 통하여 UHPC 바닥판에 매립된 스터드 전단연결재의 정적 강도를 평가하였으며, 실험 변수로 바닥판 두께, 스터드 높이 및 지름을 채택하여, 기존에 제한되었던 스터드 지름에 대한 높이의 비율인 형상비와 스터드 머리부 상부 콘크리트 피복두께의 제한을 완화하는 것이 가능한지에 대하여 검토하였다. 이 연구의 실험으로부터 기존 AASHTO LRFD에 제시된 정적 강도평가식을 UHPC에 매립된 스터드 전단연결재에 적용하는 것이 유효함을 확인하였으며, 4이상으로 제한된 형상비는 3.1까지 낮추어도 되며, 50 mm로 제한된 최소 피복두께도 25 mm까지 낮출수 있음을 확인하였다. 다만 Eurocode-4에 제시된 연성도 기준인 특성 상대슬립 6 mm 이상의 기준을 만족하지 못하여, UHPC에 매립된 스터드 전단연결재는 별도의 연성 보강 방안이 채택되지 않는다면 강성 전단연결재로 간주하여야 할 것이다.

고속열차 주행안전성 평가법에 대한 검증 연구 (Verification of Running Safety Evaluation Method for High-speed Railway)

  • The Next-generation High-speed Rail Technology Development Project was started in 2007 by the Korean Government with the aim of developing the core technologies for a high-speed electric multiple unit (EMU) railway system. This is the first attempt to develop a high-speed EMU railway. High-speed EMU trains have superior acceleration and deceleration compared to push-pull high-speed railways such as KTX(Korean Train eXpress). A prototype train was developed and tested on a high-speed line starting in 2012. The new train must maintain running safety during the test. Generally, the international standard (UIC518) is adopted to evaluate the running safety of trains. This method suggests that the test zone must have over 25 sections, and the length of each section must be 500 m. However, it is difficult to implement these test conditions for a real high-speed line. In this study, we analyzed the running safety using several test section lengths (100 m to 500 m) and compared the results. The results of this study will be used to establish a running safety evaluation method for high-speed EMU railways.

동력분산형 고속철도의 주행성능 해석기술 연구 (Dynamic behavior analysis of the high speed EMC(Electric Multiple Unit))

  • The development of a new railway vehicle is under progress through the Next Generation High-Speed Rail Development Project in Korea. Its aim is to develope fundamental technology of the vehicle that can run over 400km/h. The new distributed traction bogie system, 'HEMU'(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit), will be used and is different from previously developed high speed railway vehicles. Previous vehicles adopted push-pull type system, which means one traction-car drives rest of the vehicle. Due to the difference, investigation on dynamic behavior and its safety evaluation are necessary, as a part of verification of the design specification. In this paper, current progresses of researches are presented. And the High-Speed Railway vehicle system is evaluated for a dynamic characteristic simulation. Proper models including air-suspension system, wheel-rail, bogie and car-body will be developed according to the vehicle simulation scenario. International safety standard will be applied for final verification of the system. This research can propose a better solution when test running shows a problem in the parts and elements. Finally, the vehicle that has excellent performance will be developed, promoting academic achievement and technical development.

진동을 이용한 몸통 근력 운동이 몸통근 두께와 균형에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Trunk Strengthening Exercise using Oscillation on Trunk Muscle Thickness and Balance)

  • PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to verify the effect of trunk strengthening exercise using oscillation by comparing trunk muscle thickness, as well as balance of healthy adults during exercises performed with an oscillatory device and non-oscillatory device. METHODS: Twenty-two participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: the trunk strengthening exercise using oscillation (TSEO) group (n=11) or the trunk strengthening exercise using non-oscillation (TSEN) group (n=11). Subjects in all groups performed the exercises three days per week for 6 weeks. All subjects performed four types of exercises: pull over, seated twist, power push, and diagonal power plank. Trunk muscle thickness of the rectus abdominis (RA), internal oblique (IO), external oblique (EO), transverse abdominis (TrA), and multifidus (MT) were measured with an ultrasonography. The balance ability were evaluated using the Romberg test with eyes open, eyes closed, one-leg standing test (OLST), and limits of stability (LOS). All tests were performed before the intervention, as well as after 6 weeks and 8 weeks of exercises. RESULTS: There was a significant difference of RA, IO, TrA, and MT according to the main effect of the time (p<.05). There was a significant difference of IO and LOS according to interaction effect between the time and group (p<.05). CONCLUSION: As intended, the cyclic forces induced by the oscillating device did increase trunk muscle thickness. However, the effect was limited and significant only for the IO muscle. Combining trunk strengthening exercise with oscillation appears to be more effective in improving dynamic balance.

3층 철근콘크리트조 건물의 손상전후의 진동특성 (Vibration Characteristics of a Three-Story Reinforced Concrete Building Before and After Damage)

  • 구조물이 건전한 상태에서 진동계측을 통한 고유진동수와 감쇠율과 같은 동적특성의 분석에 대하여 국내 외적으로 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 실물 구조물에 대하여 파괴 직전까지의 큰 손상 후에 진동계측을 통한 동적특성에 대한 연구는 상대적으로 매우 미약한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 3층 철근콘크리트조 건물에 엑츄에이터로 하중을 주어 건물에 손상을 준 후에 손상 전 후의 진동계측을 통하여 동적특성을 파악하였다. 손상 전 후에 대한 고유진동수 및 감쇠율을 산정하였으며, 이 결과를 국외의 기존 연구와 비교하였다. 상시진동계측 및 인력가진을 통한 계측방법을 실시하였으며, 계측 전에 고유치 해석을 선행하여 계측치와 비교분석을 하였다. 120mm의 수평변위를 준 결과 구조물의 파괴 직전 손상 전 후에 장변과 단변의 고유진동수는 각각 34.3%, 33.7% 감소하였고, 감쇠율은 각각 36.5%, 19.5% 감소하였다. 기존 국외의 연구결과와의 비교를 한 결과 고층형 건물보다 강성의 변화가 크게 감소됨을 확인할 수 있었으며, 저층형 구조물에 대한 안정성 검토가 시급함을 확인할 수 있다.

Proper dynamic models including air-suspension system, wheel-rail, bogie and car-body is developed according to the vehicle simulation scenario. The basic platform for the development of dynamic solver is prepared using nodal, modal coordinate system and wheel-rail contact module. Operating scenario is prepared using commercial dynamic analysis program and used for development of dynamic model, which contains many parts such as carbodies, bogies and suspension systems. Furthermore, international safety standard is applied for final verification of the system. Finally, the reliability of the dynamic model will be verified with test results in the further researches. This research will propose a better solution when test results shows a problem in the parts and elements. Finally, the vehicle that has excellent performance will be developed, promoting academic achievement and technical development.

관측정 자연표류 실험을 통한 트리클로로에틸렌(Trichloroethylene) 오염 지하수의 생물학적 복원 타당성 연구 (Field Tests for Assessing the Bioremediation Feasibility of a Trichloroethylene-Contaminated Aquifer)

  • 본 연구는 현장 관측정 자연표류 실험 (SWNDT, Single-Well Natural Drift Test) 을 이용하여 트리클로로에틸렌 (TCE, trichloroethylene) 으로 오염된 지하수의 생물학적 복원 가능성 조사 방법 및 결과 해석법을 제시하였다. 현장 SWNDT 실험에 사용한 용액은 일정 양의 추적자 (브롬이온), 생분해 기질 (톨루엔, 에틸렌, 용존산소, 질산성질소) 을 현장 지하수에 용해시켜 준비한다. 준비된 실험용액을 대수층에 주입하고, 주입 시 시료를 채취하여 추적자와 생 분해 기질들의 초기 농도를 측정한다 주업 후 시간에 따라서 시료를 채취하여 추적자, 생분해 기질, 생분해 부산물들의 농도를 측정한다. 현장 SWNDT 실험은 생분해 기질과 추적자의 상대적 거동을 평가하기 위한 Push-pull Transport Test (PPTT), 토착 미생물의 양과 활성도를 증가시키기 위한 Drift Biostimulation Test (DBT), 트리클로로에틸렌과 미생물 반응이 유사하리라 예상되는 기질을 시험하기 위한 Drift Surrogate Activity Test (DSAT) 순으로 진행되었다 SWNDT 실험 양수 시 추적자로 사용한 브롬이용의 농도변화 곡선은 톨루엔, 에틸렌, 용존산소, 질산성 질소 농도변화와 유사한 경향을 나타냈다. 즉 대수층에서의 생분해 기질들의 이송이 추적자와 유사함을 나타내는 결과이다. 토착 톨루엔산화 미생물의 존재를 톨루엔 농도의 감소에 따른 이산화탄소의 발생 및 용존산소 농도의 감소로 확인하였고, 그 톨루엔 산화 미생물은 트리클로로에틸렌 생분해 유사기질로 사용된 에틸렌을 분해하며, 부산물로 산화에틸렌 (ethylene oxide) 을 생성하였다. 이는 DBT 실험을 통하여 활성화된 톨루엔 분해 미생물이 트리클로로에틸렌 분해능이 있음을 나타낸다. 본 연구에서 제시한 현장 SWNDT 실험 방법 및 결과 해석 방법은 트리클로로에틸렌으로 대표되는 염화 지방족 탄회수소화합물(Chlorinated Aliphatic Hydrocarbons, CAHs)로 오염된 지하수의 생물학적 복원 타당성 평가를 위한 경제적이고 용이한 현장 실험 방법이다.
