  • Rural tourism is primarily a domestic tourism activity with visitors traveling to non-urban areas. The development of local and regionally denominate food is a way to distinguish agricultural production and to promote rural tourism. Therefore, this study addressed how utilizing regional agricultural products results in increasing the intention of tourists to revisit an area. The purposes of this study were 1) to identify the image and motives for visiting Yesan, 2) to determine the importance of purchasing intention and the regional menu produced from local agricultural/special products, and 3) to identify the impact of purchasing local agricultural/special products and regional menus on the intention to revisit. A total of 202 usable questionnaires were collected at Ducksan Hotsprings and Suduck Temple in Yean area, which are known tourist attractions. The major findings obtained were as follows: First, Yesan was considered a relaxing place ($3.46{\pm}1.09$), which was the highest ranked image score for a tourist attraction. Second, the highest ranked motive for visiting Yesan was to rest ($3.77{\pm}1.18$). According to these findings, Yesan is a relaxing place, as it is a rural area with no known defined attractions. Third, most tourists (78.7%) recognized the apple as a local agricultural/special product. The intentions to purchase local agricultural/special products and the need for regional dishes in the local restaurant was higher than average. Tourists showed interests ($3.88{\pm}1.16$) in eating regional dishes made with local agricultural/special products at the restaurants. Fourth, a significant impact of purchasing local agricultural/special products and the regional menu was observed on the intention to revisit (p<0.000). The results indicate that it is very important to develop proper regional menus that concur with images of the location and the regional farming products.

  • The study tested the moderating effect of 215 women living in Busan to analyze the purchase intention (awareness, health interests, environmental interests) of environment-friendly agricultural products and it's the causal relationship between consumer attitudes and purchasing intention. The results confirmed that all purchase factors for environment-friendly agricultural products had significant causality on consumer attitudes. Significant causality of consumer attitudes on purchase intention was also confirmed. The moderating effect of the number of purchases was analyzed to only significantly affect consumer attitudes on purchase intention and consumer attitudes according to number of purchases were analyzed to vary depending on the intensity of purchase. Information presented in this study means that consumers who are aware of environment-friendly agricultural products, interested in health, and interested in protecting the environment exhibit positive attitudes on environment-friendly agricultural products as well as higher purchase intentions. Therefore, if government and local organizations strengthen the promotion of environment-friendly agricultural products, there may be an acceleration of the consumption of environment-friendly agricultural products, followed by an increase in the income of farmers as well as an increase in the number of farmers who cultivate environment-friendly agricultural products. This may ultimately aid in the conservation of the natural environment of Korea and enhance the health and well-being of the public.

  • Among the many methods to make sustainable garments, convertible garments have the potential to change style and function that allow consumers to keep and use garments longer with the possibility of enhancing sustainability. This research analyzes consumer preferences in changeable design options for convertible dresses and the consumers' influence on environmentally responsible apparel consumption (ERC) behaviors on their preferences regarding changeable design options of dresses, which are popular items. An online survey collected data from a convenient sample of 321 female college students from four universities in the United States. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS through descriptive analysis, cluster analysis, and independent samples t-test. There were significant differences between high and low ERC groups in design preferences that considered important aspects of purchasing, using convertible dresses, and purchase intentions. Detailed differences among sub-groups were analyzed. Designers are encouraged to make tying/folding/wrapping dresses with changes of size/fit, dress length, or color/pattern. The results are beneficial for apparel designers when developing convertible dresses with the guidance of consumers' design preferences and differences according to ERC levels.

  • Research has shown that authentic experiences at tourist destinations, referred to as destination authenticity, lead to increased revisit intentions and recommendations. However, studies demonstrating the impact of destination authenticity on everyday purchasing behavior are scarce. To address this research gap, based on autobiographical memory and consumer inference theory, this study re-examines the relationship between destination authenticity and purchase behavior toward brands created in tourism destinations encountered in everyday life. This study reveals that brand authenticity mediates destination authenticity's effect on the purchase intention toward destination brands. Furthermore, the effects of destination authenticity on brand authenticity, as well as brand authenticity on purchase intention, are moderated by destination brand self-congruence. The findings of this study contribute to the literature by examining the mechanisms of tourists' purchase behavior, based on autobiographical memory and consumer inference theory. In addition, it sheds light on the boundary conditions under which the impact of destination authenticity on brand authenticity and that of brand authenticity on purchase intention are enhanced.

  • This study explores the opportunities for new market of traditional Korean costumes, Hanbok, following not only the consumer's needs and wants, but marketing trends of fashion industry. This paper is the exploratory consumer research of fusion Hanbok, it aims at examining how consumers wear fusion Hanbok. Study participants were limited to mothers who wore Korean-fusion Hanbok to their baby's first birthday party once or more. A total of 221 respondents completed online questionnaires. The results of this study are as follows. First, regarding the reasons of wearing fusion Hanbok is a beautiful and traditional dress although traditional Hanbok is uncomfortable and inconvenient. Second, the most satisfactory aspect of fusion Hanbok was found to be its design. Satisfaction with the color, size and length was also high. Third, most female consumers in their 20s and 30s have stronger preferences for and intentions of purchasing fusion Hanbok. Some people criticize that as fusion Hanbok is westernized in its designs and materials, it has lost the classical beauty and impression of traditional Hanbok. However, if no one routinely wears Hanbok, Hanbok will never be popularized or globalized. This study suggest that traditional Hanbok should be improved by developing effective merchandising strategies based on consumer needs for traditional Hanbok such as various product assortment and promotion strategies using traditional Korean beauty. So, traditional Hanbok could be retained and succeeded in the future by improving consumers' dissatisfactions of traditional Hanbok and creating the new market of traditional Hanbok in which fusion Hanbok are produced focused on consumers' needs and market environments.

  • Purpose Along with the growth of smart phones and social networking service (SNS), social commerce continues to expand. Although online reviews have become an important source of the information that consumers use to make purchasing decisions, theoretical development and empirical testing in this area are still limited. Thus, there is a need to develop further understanding about the influence of electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM). Drawing upon the heuristic - systematic model (HSM) which is one of the dual-process theories, this study develops a research model that explains key factors influencing consumers' eWOM credibility. Furthermore, this study verifies that consumer's eWOM credibility is a key determinant of eWOM and purchase intentions. Design/methodology/approach The proposed model is empirically tested with 493 users who have experience in WeChat-based social commerce. The structural equation model (SEM) analysis is used to evaluate the research model and hypotheses. Findings The major findings are as follows. First, argument quality of eWOM (a systematic factor) has a positive effect on eWOM credibility. Second, source credibility and recommendation consistency of eWOM (heuristic factors) are positively associated with eWOM credibility. Finally, purchase and eWOM intentions greatly depend on eWOM credibility. These results confirm the effectiveness of HSM in explaining eWOM mechanisms in SNS-based social commerce. The details of findings and implications are presented.

  • This study examines the effects of consumer beliefs for food certifications on the behavioral intentions and the behavioral intention biases to purchase the certified seafoods by a subjective probability model which is on the basis of the mathematical probability model and the covariance model. The food certifications used on this study are 'Organic foods', 'Traceability system of food products' and. 'HACCP'. The representative foods of fishery products on this study is seasoned laver. The current study showed the following results. First, consumers have more than two different beliefs each for all certifications which are the subjects of this study. The beliefs of the certifications have an impact on the consumers when they consider to buy the certified seafood products. Second, consumers try to persuade by themselves to ensure that their particular belief about the certification could lead to a purchase the seafood products. Consumer beliefs of the "environmentally friendly production" on the organic foods certification is an important factor as much as the "guarantee of food safety" belief making a positive purchasing behavior intentions(PBI) bias for the organic seafood products. Consumers also have a positive PBI bias for certified seafood products in all certifications as long as a certification is considered to "guarantee the transparency of the food distribution process" as its belief. 'Traceability system' was the only one which didn't generate a positive PBI bias from the belief of "guarantee of food safety" out of three certifications.
