  • 레이저가 산업 응용 전반에 걸쳐 아주 중요한 부분으로 자리잡고 있으며, 최근에 와서는 레이저 의료기기, 레이저 가공, 레이저 핵 융합 등과 같은 다수의 분야에 강력한 가시광이나 자외선 광을 필요로 하고 있다. 이에 본 실험실에서 보유한 다단메쉬 중첩 기술을 이용하여 각 중첩 메쉬에 같은 에너지를 인가했을 때의 레이저 출력과 녹색광 출력간의 상관관계와 다단메쉬에 따른 변환효율도 조사하였다.

Al 1050 합금에 과공정 Al-Si 합금의 레이저 클래딩에서 평균출력의 영향에 대한 연구 (Effects of Average Power on Laser Cladding of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy on Al 1050 Alloy)

  • This study produced hypereutectic Al-Si clad layer on 1050 Al alloy by a novel laser cladding method. Pure Si powder was mixed with organic binder to make fluid paste which could be screen-printed on the 1050 Al alloy plate. Pulsed Nd:YAG laser was irradiated on the Si paste layer to melt and alloy with Al substrate. Different laser power of 99 W, 179 W and 261 W, was used to see the difference of the microstructure, composition and hardness of the clad layers. When laser power of 179 W was used, the clad layer had overall Si content of 38wt% and composed of fine primary Si particles and fine eutectic phase. At laser power of 261 W, the clad layer had overall Si content of 24wt% and composed of mainly fine eutectic phase. Vickers hardness of HV176.7 and HV150.3 on the clad layer was obtained at laser power of 179 W and 261 W, respectively.

펄스 레이저를 이용한 벨로우즈 용접특성에 관한연구 (Welding characteristics of Metal bellows using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser)

  • Pulse laser welding was performed on C22 metal bellows. The results can be summarized as follows: Laser welded metal bellows had less thermal distortion, narrow HAZ, high aspect ratio in comparison with other welding processes like TIG, Plasma welding. Laser welded bellows has higher tensile strengths than that C22 base metal. The value of hardness in laser weld metal was measured 100-120 Hv, it was decreased compared to the base metal. It is reasoned that due to the annealed by heat input during the laser welding.

Laser beam decontamination of metallic surfaces with a pulsed (150 W) Nd: YAG laser

  • Laser decontamination of radioactive surfaces is an innovative technology. Our contribution to improving this technology includes studies on laser beam decontamination with a pulsed laser of an average power of 150 W, equipped with a hand guided working head. Our investigations are focused on metallic surfaces typical in nuclear power plants, such as stainless steel, bright and rusted mild steel, galvanized steel, and painted steel. As typical nuclides of contaminated surfaces we chose Co-60 and Cs-137, the most frequently occurring nuclides in many nuclear plant components; Sr-85 as a representative of Sr-90, the potentially most harmful fission nuclide; and Am-241 as a representative of the minor alpha-radiation emitting actinides. Here, we present our results of decontamination and recovery ratios. Decontamination ratios of 90-100% were achieved on different surfaces.

PLD 법으로 성장한 undoped ZnO 박막의 성장온도에 따른 광학적 특성 (Optical properties of undoped ZnO films grown by PLD)

  • PLD 방법으로 undoped ZnO박막을 성장 온도별로 성장하여 박막의 광학적 특성이 변화되는 것을 관찰하였다. undoped ZnO박막은 $Al_2O_3(0001)$기판을 이용하였고, pulsed laser deposition(PLD)을 이용하여 증착을 하였다. 이때 파장이 355nm인 Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용하였고 레이저의 에너지 밀도는 1.4 $J/cm^2$ 이었다. 구조적 광학적 특성을 관측하기 위하여 XRD, SEM, PL 등을 측정하였다. PL 측정 결과 성장 온도가 증가함에 따라 undoped ZnO박막의 광학적 특성이 좋아지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. XRD 측정 결과도 온도별 FWHM과 intensity ratio가 점차 좋아지는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

  • ZnO is a wide-bandgap II-IV semiconductor and has a variety of potnetial applications. ZnO exhibits good piezoelectric, photoelectric and optical properties, and is a good candidate for an electroluminescence device. ZnO films have been deposited on (001) sapphire by PLD technique. Nd:YAG pulsed laser was operated at a wavelength of $\lambda=355nm$. The ZnO films were deposited at oxygen pressures from base to 500 mTorr. The substrate temperatures was increased from $200^{\circ}C\; to\;700^{\circ}C$ films showed strong UV emission by increasing the partial oxygen pressure. We have investigated the relationship between partial oxygen pressure and the intensity of UV emission.

  • Thin film of ZnO was deposited on various substrate by Nd:YAG Pulsed Laser Deposition(PLD) with a wavelength of 355nm. Further more, Thin filme of ZnO conducted by various temperature conditions. The surface morphology of the ZnO thin film was investigated by X-Ray Diffraction(XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM). Effects of various substrates and Temperature conditions were analyzed. The best properties were obtained on $600^{\circ}C$ with post-deposition annealing at $600^{\circ}C$ in flowing $O_2$ atmosphere for several hours.

Magnetic Hardening of Nano-thick $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

  • $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ film magnets were prepared using a $Sm_2Fe_{17}$ target in a $N_2$ gas atmosphere using a Nd-YAG pulsed laser ablation technique. The effect of nitrogen pressure, deposition temperature, pulse time and film thickness on the structure and magnetic properties of $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ film were studied. Increasing the nitrogen pressure up to 5 atm led to the formation of complete $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ compound. Optimized magnetic properties with the nitrogenation temperature in the range 500-53$0^{\circ}C$ could be obtained by extending the nitrogenation time up to 4 hours. Relatively low coercivities of 400~600 Oe were found in $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$films 50~100 m thick, while a $4\piM_s$ of 10$\sim$12 kG could be achieved. In-plane anisotropy, which was the basic goal in this study, was achieved by controlling the nitrogenation parameters.

열복사의 색수차 공간여과를 이용한 레이저용접 감시기술 (Process monitoring of laser welding using chromatic filtering of thermal radiation)

  • An innovative real-time weld monitoring technique using chromatic filtering of the thermal radiation from a weld pool is developed. The thermal radiation from the weld pool is focused on an aperture and the transmitted thermal radiation is monitored at two wavelengths with high-speed single-element detectors. Due to the chromatic aberration introduced in the focusing optics, the transmittance curve of thermal radiation varies by the wavelength. Owing to this difference in the transmittance, the local variation of thermal radiation from the weld pool can be monitored by processing the two spectroscopic signals from two detectors. In this paper, the algorithms to monitor the laser power on the weld specimen and the focus shift we investigated and the performances of laser power and focus monitoring are shown for a pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding. The monitoring of the weld pool size variation is also discussed.

  • A 355 nm (3.5 eV) neodymium:yttrium aluminum gamet laser, produced by a harmonic generator, was used to create silver metallic particles as seeds for nucleation in photosensitive glass containing Ag+ and Ce3+ ions. The pulse width and frequency of the laser were 8 ns and 10 Hz, respectively. Heat treatment was conducted at 570 C for 1 h, following laser irradiation, to produce crystalline growth, after which a LiAlSi3O8 crystal phase appeared in the laser-irradiated Li2O A1203 SiO2 glass. For the Present study, we compared the effect of laser-induced crystallization on glass crystallization with that of spontaneous crystallization by heat treatment.
