Pyrotechnic initiators provide a source of pyrotechnic energy used to initiate a variety of space mechanisms. Pyrotechnic systems build in electromagnetic environment that may lead to critical or catastrophic hazards. Special precautions are need to prevent a pulse large enough to trigger the initiator from appearing in the pyrotechnic firing circuits at any but the desired time. The EMC verification shall be shown by analysis or test that the pyrotechnic systems meets the requirements of inadvertent activation. The MIL-STD-1576 and two range safeties, AFSPC and CSG, require the safety margin for electromagnetic potential hazards to pyrotechnic systems to a level at least 20 dB below the maximum no-fire power of the EED. The PC23 is equivalent to NASA standard initiator and the 1EPWH100 squib is ESA standard initiator. This paper verifies the two safety margins for electromagnetic potential hazards. The first is verified by analyzing against a RF power. The second is verified by testing against a DC current. The EMC safety margin requirement against RF power has been demonstrated through the electric field coupling analysis in differential mode with 21 dB both PC23 and 1EPWH100, and in common mode with 58 dB for PC23 and 48 dB for 1EPWH100 against the maximum no-fire power of the EED. Also, the EMC safety margin requirement against DC current has been demonstrated through the electrical isolation test for the pyrotechnic firing circuits with greater than 20 dB below the maximum no-fire current of the EED.
In the primary sensory neuron of the mesencephalic trigeminal nucleus (MTN), the peripheral axon supplies a large number of annulospiral endings surrounding intrafusal fibers encapsulated in single muscle spindles while the central axon sends only a few number of synapses onto single ${\alpha}-motoneurons({\alpha}-MNs)$. Therefore, the ${\alpha}-{\gamma}$ linkage is thought to be very crucial in the jaw-closing movement. Spike activity in a ${\gamma}-motoneuron\;({\gamma}-MN)$ would induce a large number of impulses in single peripheral axons by activating many intrafusal fibers simultaneously, subsequently causing an activation of ${\alpha}-MNs$ in spite of the small number of synapses. Thus, the activity of ${\gamma}-MNs$ may be vital for modulation of jaw-closing movements. Independently of such a spindle activity modulated by ${\gamma}-MNs$, somatic depolarization in MTN neurons is known to trigger the oscillatory spike activity. Nevertheless, the trafficking of these spikes arising from the two distinct sources of MTN neurons is not well understood. In this short review, switching among multiple functional modes of MTN neurons is discussed. Subsequently, it will be discussed which mode can support the ${\alpha}-{\gamma}$ linkage. In our most recent study, simultaneous patch-clamp recordings from the soma and axon hillock revealed a spike-back-propagation from the spike-initiation site in the stem axon to the soma in response to a somatic current pulse. The persistent $Na^+$ current was found to be responsible for the spike-initiation in the stem axon, the activation threshold of which was lower than those of soma spikes. Somatic inputs or impulses arising from the sensory ending, whichever trigger spikes in the stem axon first, would be forwarded through the central axon to the target synapse. We also demonstrated that at hyperpolarized membrane potentials, 4-AP-sensitive $K^+$ current ($IK_{4-AP}$) exerts two opposing effects on spikes depending on their origins; the suppression of spike initiation by increasing the apparent electrotonic distance between the soma and the spike-initiation site, and the facilitation of axonal spike invasion at higher frequencies by decreasing the spike duration and the refractory period. Through this mechanism, the spindle activity caused by ${\gamma}-MNs$ would be safely forwarded to ${\alpha}-MNs$. Thus, soma spikes shaped differentially by this $IK_{4-AP}$ depending on their origins would reflect which one of the two inputs was forwarded to the target synapses.

Intense quasi-monochromatic x-ray irradiation from the linear plasma target is described. The plasma x-ray generator employs a high-voltage power supply, a low-impedance coaxial transmission line, a high-voltage condenser with a capacity of about 200 nF, a turbo-molecular pump, a thyristor pulse generator as a trigger device, and a flash x-ray tube. The high-voltage main condenser is charged up to 55 kV by the power supply, and the electric charges in the condenser are discharged to the tube after triggering the cathode electrode. The x-ray tube is of a demountable triode that is connected to the turbo molecular pump with a pressure of approximately 1 mPa. As electron flows from the cathode electrode are roughly converged to the molybdenum target by the electric field in the tube, the weakly ionized plasma, which consists of metal ions and electrons, forms by the target evaporating. In the present work, the peak tube voltage was almost equal to the initial charging voltage of the main condenser, and the peak current was about 20 kA with a charging voltage of 55 kV. When the charging voltage was increased, the linear plasma x-ray source grew, and the characteristic x-ray intensities of K-series lines increased. The quite sharp lines such as hard x-ray lasers were clearly observed. The quasi-monochromatic radiography was performed by a new film-less computed radiography system.
An experimental variable rate nursery sprayer was developed to adjust application rates for canopy volume in real time. The sprayer consisted of two vertical booms integrated with ultrasonic sensors, and variable rate nozzles coupled with pulse width modulation (PMW) based solenoid valves. A custom-designed microcontroller instructed the sensors to detect canopy size and occurrence and then controlled nozzles to achieve variable application rates. A spray delivery system, which consisted of diaphragm pump, pressure regulator and 4-cycle gasoline engine, offered the spray discharge function. Spray delay time, time adjustment in spray trigger for the leading distance of the sensor, was measured with a high-speed camera, and it was from 50 to 140 ms earlier than the desired time (398 ms) at 3.2 km/h under indoor conditions. Consequently, the sprayer triggered 4.5 to 12.5 cm prior to detected targets. Duty cycles of the sprayer were from 20 to 34 ms for senor-to-canopy (STC) distance from 0.30 to 0.76 m. Outdoor test confirmed that the nozzles were triggered from 290 to 380 ms after detecting tree canopy at 3.2 km/h. The spray rate of the new sprayer was 58.4 to 85.2% of the constant application rate (935 L/ha). Spray coverage was collected at four areas of evergreen canopy by water sensitive papers (WSP), and ranged from 1.9 to 41.1% and 1.8 to 34.7% for variable and constant rate applications, respectively. One WSP area had significant (P < 0.05) difference in mean spray coverage between two application conditions.

This paper describes the construction and experimetal results of prototype digital telesounder developed to monitor remotely the fish school entered in setnet. The telesounder consists of the sea station and land station. The former consists of an ultrasonic transceiving part of 50 KHz, a hand made 16 bits single board computer (SBC), and a RF MODEM of 9600 bps for data link. The SBC controls the trigger signal to transmit the ultrasonic pulse, maximum detection range, sampling rate in analog to digital converter and data link. The sampling rate of echo data was 80 ${\mu}$s. The later consists of a RF MODEM same as the former one and 486 notebook computer which displays the echogram and saves its raw data. The authors carried out some experiments to confirm the practical use of the telesounder. At results the echogram obtained on the land station is sufficiently good and clear to monitor the behavior of fish school in setnet.
We measure the 3-dimensional temporal behavior of the light emitted from the discharge cell of a plasma display panel (PDP) by using a scanned point detecting system. The light signal detected by a PM tube is sent to the oscilloscope, and the oscilloscope is connected to a PC with GPIB. From the resultant temporal behaviors, we could analyze the discharge characteristics of the panel with a Ne-Xe (4%) mixing gas at a 400 torr pressure. The top view of the panel shows that discharge moves from the inner edge of the cathode electrode to the outer cathode electrode, forming an arc shape. The side view of the panel shows that the light is detected up to 150 $\mu\textrm{m}$ up the barrier rib. After a trigger pulse is applied, peak intensity is detected at 730 ns and peak intensity position is located at the center of the ITO electrodes.

In this paper we implement main functions of electronic measuring devices, which are essential to design electric/electronic virtual laboratories on the Web. The implemented virtual electronic measuring devices such as virtual analog multimeter(VAM), virtual function generator(VFG), virtual oscilloscope(VOSC) enable the learners to perform the virtual experiments on the Web by simple mouse clicks. In order to show their validity virtual experiments for understanding how to use them are designed. The virtual experiments for measuring resistance(OHM), AC/DC Voltage(ACV/DCV) and DC Current(DCA) by the VAM are illustrated. In addition, the learners can change the frequency of the signal generated from the VFG and measure by the VOSC several types of the signals generated from the VFG such as triangular, pulse, sinusoidal waveforms. The VOSC can measure voltage and current through two channels of it and provide the learners with additional functions such as zooming, trigger, cursor, summing of waveforms. Since the virtual electronic measuring devices have been implemented as forms of Java classes, various types of applications are available according to the structures of virtual laboratories.
Two modalities of gonadotropin secretion, pulsatile gonadotropin and preovulatory gonadotropin surge, have been identified in the mammals. Pulsatile gonadotropin secretion is modulated by the pulsatile pattern of GnRH release and complex ovarian steroid feedback actions. The neural mechansim that regulates the pulsatile release of GnRH in the hypothalamus is called "GnRH pulse generator". Ovarian steroids, estradiol and progesterone, appear to exert thier feedback effects both directly on the pituitary to modulate gonadotropin release and on a hypothalamic site to modulate GnRH release; estradiol primarily affects the amplitude while progesterone decreases the frequency of the pulsatile GnRH. Steroid hormones are known to affect catecholamine transmission in brain. MBH-POA is richly innervated by NE systems and close apposition of NE terminals and GnRH cell bodies occurs in the MBH as well as in the POA. NE normally facilitates pulsatile LH release by acting through ${\alpha}-receptor$ mechanism. However, precise nature of facilitative role of NE transmission in maintaining pulsatile LH has not been clearly understood. Close apposition of DA and GnRH terminals in ME might permit DA to influence GnRH release. Action of DA transmission probably is mediated by axo-axonic contacts between GnRH and DA fibers in the ME. Dopamine transmission does not normally regulate pulsatile LH release, but under certain conditions, increased DA transmission inhibit LH pulse. Endogenous opioid acts to suppress the secretion of GnRH into hypophysial portal circulation, thereby inhibiting gonadotropin secretion. However, an interaction between endogenenous opioid peptides and gonadotropin release is a complex one which involves ovarian hormones as well. LH secretion appears to be most suppressed by endogenenous opioids during the luteal phase, at a time of elevated progesterone secretion. The arcuate nucleus contains not only cell bodies for GnRH and ${\beta}-endorphin$ but also a dense aborization of fibers suggesting that GnRH release is changed by the interactions between GnRH and ${\beta}-endorphin$ cell bodies within the arcuate nucleus. The frequency and amplitude of pulsatile LH release seem to be increased during the preovulatory gonadotropin surge. Estradiol exerts positive feedback action on the hypothalamo-pituitary axis to trigger preovulatory LH surge. GnRH is also crucial hormonal stimulus for preovulatory LH surge. It is unlikely, however, that increased secretion of GnRH during the preovulatory gonadotropin surge represents an obligatory neural signal for generation of the LH discharge in primates including human. Modulation of preovulatory LH surge by catecholamines has been studied almost exclusively in rats. NE and E may be involved in distinct way to accumulate GnRH in the MBH and its release into the hypophysial portal system during the critical period for LH surge on proestrus in rats. However, the mechanisms whereby augmented adrenergic transmission may facilitate the formation and accumulation of GnRH in the ME-ARC nerve terminals before the LH surge have not been clearly understood.
Many out patients of the rehabilitation center complaint a pain caused by suffering of MPS, and it brings many different kind of social and ecinomical problems such as medical expenses and the reduction in work efficiency. Therefore, we conducted a research to present a fast and effective treatment to the MPS patients. this research was conducted from November, 1996 to January 1998 with eighteen outpatients who agreed to be the subjects to our reserach. We applied the electric acupuncture on 28 different trigger point on the patients with mostly muscular-skeletal pain and some tender and radiating pain. After the treatment, VRS, VAS, PRI were used to measure the degree of the pain on the patients third and seventh visits, and following results were found. 1. To apply EAP treatment, we acupunctured 6em-Iong needles on Tps region, then the electrodes of pulse generater pg-306 E.S.T were connected on the top of the needles. the electric acupuncture therapy was conducted for 20 minutes with the intensity of 4hz - 60hz(auto wave). The treated electric intensity was the level at which the patients did not feel discomfort. 2. Thirteen out of the 18 participated patients were in their 30s and 40s(72.2%), showing highest frequency. There were more female than male with the ratio of 1 to 1:2. 3. six out of the participated patients (33.3%) had the pain for less then a week, and the average duration of the pain of the participated patients wear 0.8 years. 4. The pain occured mostly in the upper trapezius by 6 part (21.4%), then in the gluteus medius region by 4 part (14.3%). Many of the patients with the pain in the upper back area accompanied varios kind of the referred pains such as radiculopathy, HIVD and Frozen shoulder. 5. MPS occured more frequently on the right side than left side then left side and it seemed to be due to the frequent use of the right hand. 6. There was almost no difference in the measurement of the intensity of the pain right before and after the EAP treatment. Howerver, there was significant decrease in the numerical values of the VAS, and a little bit of decrease in the numerical values of the PRI after the EAP treatment. 7. Based on the results of this present research, it can be concluded that EAP can be used for the treating the myofascial pain syndrome with promptness and safety in most cases.

In this paper, we designed the HVIC(High Voltage Gate Driver IC) which has improved noise immunity characteristics and high driving capability. Operating frequency and input voltage range of the designed HVIC is up to 500kHz and 650V, respectively. Noise protection and schmitt trigger circuit is included in the high-side level shifter of designed IC which has very high dv/dt noise immunity characteristic(up to 50V/ns). And also, rower dissipation of high-side level shifter with designed short-pulse generation circuit decreased more that 40% compare with conventional circuit. In addition, designed HVIC includes protection and UVLO circuit to prevent cross-conduction of power switch and sense power supply voltage of driving section, respectively. Protection and UVLO circuit can improve the stability of the designed HVIC. Spectre and Pspice circuit simulator were used to verify the operating characteristics of the designed HVIC.
