마이크로스트립 선로상 가우시안 펄스신호의 전파특성 해석 및 측정 (Propagation characteristic analysis and measurement of gaussian pulse signals on the microstrip line)

  • The propagation properties of Gaussian pulse signals on the microstrip line are investigated by the Kirschning & Jansen's approximated equation to meet the frequency range of a pulse, accuracy, and geometrical requiremtns of the microstrip line. The dispersion of pulse signals is analyzed regarding to the relative permittivity .epsilon.$_{r}$, substrate height h and strip width w of the microstrip line. To verify theoretical results, several samples of 50.OMEGA. microstrip lines are fabricated. And the characteristics of pulse propagation along these lines are simple measured using VNA(Vector Network Analyzer) with time-domain analysis function. A fairly good agreement has been found between the measured pulse waveforms and computer simulations.

Simulation of Excitation and Propagation of Pico-Second Ultrasound

  • This paper presents an analytic and numerical simulation of the generation and propagation of pico-second ultrasound with nano-scale wavelength, enabling the production of bulk waves in thin films. An analytic model of laser-matter interaction and elasto-dynamic wave propagation is introduced to calculate the elastic strain pulse in microstructures. The model includes the laser-pulse absorption on the material surface, heat transfer from a photon to the elastic energy of a phonon, and acoustic wave propagation to formulate the governing equations of ultra-short ultrasound. The excitation and propagation of acoustic pulses produced by ultra-short laser pulses are numerically simulated for an aluminum substrate using the finite-difference method and compared with the analytical solution. Furthermore, Fourier analysis was performed to investigate the frequency spectrum of the simulated elastic wave pulse. It is concluded that a pico-second bulk wave with a very high frequency of up to hundreds of gigahertz is successfully generated in metals using a 100-fs laser pulse and that it can be propagated in the direction of thickness for thickness less than 100 nm.

High-speed angular-scan pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager for in situ non-destructive evaluation

  • This study examines a non-contact laser scanning-based ultrasound system, called an angular scan pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager (A-PE-UPI), that uses coincided laser beams for ultrasonic sensing and generation. A laser Doppler vibrometer is used for sensing, while a diode pumped solid state (DPSS) Q-switched laser is used for generation of thermoelastic waves. A high-speed raster scanning of up to 10-kHz is achieved using a galvano-motorized mirror scanner that allows for coincided sensing and for the generation beam to perform two-dimensional scanning without causing any harm to the surface under inspection. This process allows for the visualization of longitudinal wave propagation through-the-thickness. A pulse-echo ultrasonic wave propagation imaging algorithm (PE-UWPI) is used for on-the-fly damage visualization of the structure. The presented system is very effective for high-speed, localized, non-contact, and non-destructive inspection of aerospace structures. The system is tested on an aluminum honeycomb sandwich with disbonds and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) honeycomb sandwich with a layer overlap. Inspection is performed at a 10-kHz scanning speed that takes 16 seconds to scan a $100{\times}100mm^2$ area with a scan interval of 0.25 mm. Finally, a comparison is presented between angular-scanning and a linear-scanning-based pulse-echo UPI system. The results show that the proposed system can successfully visualize defects in the inspected specimens.

결합 마이크로스트립 선로상의 펄스형태 신호의 전파 및 누화 특성 해석 (Propagation and Crosstalk Characteristic Analysis of Pulse Shaped Signals on the Coupled Microstrip Lines)

  • 결합마이크로스트립 선로에서 여러형태의 펄스신호(가우시안 펄스, 구형 펄스, 사다리꼴 펄스, RF펄스)의 전 파특성을 해석하였다. 펼스신호의 시간영역의 응답을 구하기 위하여 비교적 정확성을 갖고 시율레이션하기에 편 리한 수치적분볍을 이용하였으며, 주파수에 따른 결합선로에서의 분산특성은 Kirschning과 Jansen의 closed f form 근사식을 사용하였다. 결합마이크로스트립 션로의 기하학적 구조(비유전율$\varepsilon_r$ , 기판두께 h, 스트립폭 w, 선로간의 간격 s)와 펄스폭 $\tau$ 등이 분산에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 다른 파라미터에 비해 선로간의 거리가 펄스의 왜곡에 큰 영향을 주는 파라미터임을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문의 결과는 MIC 및 MMIC 회로의 설계시 마이크로스트립 선로의 비유전율, 기판두께, 스트립폭 그리고 선호 펄스의 펄스폭 등의 trade-off 결정에 적합하다.

Numerical investigation of detonation combustion wave propagation in pulse detonation combustor with nozzle

  • The exhaust nozzle serves back pressure of Pulse detonation combustor, so combustion chamber gets sufficient pressure for propulsion. In this context recent researches are focused on influence of nozzle effect on single cycle detonation wave propagation and propulsion performance of PDE. The effects of various nozzles like convergent-divergent nozzle, convergent nozzle, divergent nozzle and without nozzle at exit section of detonation tubes were computationally investigated to seek the desired propulsion performance. Further the effect of divergent nozzle length and half angle on detonation wave structure was analyzed. The simulations have been done using Ansys 14 Fluent platform. The LES turbulence model was used to simulate the combustion wave reacting flows in combustor with standard wall function. From these numerical simulations among four acquaint nozzles the highest thrust augmentation could be attained in divergent nozzle geometry and detonation wave propagation velocity eventually reaches to 1830 m/s, which is near about C-J velocity. Smaller the divergent nozzle half angle has a significant effect on faster detonation wave propagation.

전영역 펄스-에코 초음파전파영상화 시스템의 CN-235의 도색된 샌드위치 조종면 In-situ 비파괴평가 기술 (Nondestructive Evaluation Technique of Painted Sandwich Control Surfaces of CN-235 using Full-field Pulse-echo Ultrasonic Propagation Imaging System)

  • 본 연구에서는 전영역 초음파전파영상화 시스템이라 불리는 새로운 초음파전파영상화 장치를 소개한다. 본 시스템은 비파괴적으로 구조를 2 축 선형 이동 스테이지 기반으로 검사한다. 일치된 초음파 센싱과 가진 레이저 빔이 구조를 스캔하며 동시에 펄스-에코 모드 레이저 초음파를 수집한다. 이 과정은 스캔영역만큼 큰 두께 방향의 전영역 초음파를 생성하는 것을 가능하도록 한다. 본 시스템을 사용하여 실제로 운용 중인 알루미늄 허니콤 구조 기반의 CN-235의 도색된 샌드위치 조종면를 검사 및 평가하고 구조 검사 결과로써 전영역 초음파전파 영상을 소개하였으며 기존 초음파 탐상 기법의 결과와 비교하여 성능 및 민감도를 검증하였다.

  • In this study, in order to observe treeing of prebreakdown phenomena, time variation of acoustic emission properties due to initiation and propagation of tree in LDPE was investigated under AC voltage. The experimental results were as following, pulse number and average amplitude of AE were increased along with near breakdown rather than tree initiation, also, according to increasing of applied voltage, tree propagation was blunted, while pulse number and average amplitude of AE was promoted. In each applied voltage, ${\phi}-a$ distributions during propagation of tree were changed to special patterns, skewness S and kurtosis K reflected well time variation of ${\phi}-a$ distribution patterns. It is thought that initiation and propagation state of tree can be easily monitored, so long as time variation of pulse number and average amplitude of AE, skewness Sand kurtosis K of ${\phi}-a$ distribution are always monitored.

  • 이 연구는 다음 두가지 사실에 기초를 두고 있다. 첫째, 혈관의 맥동은 전통적으로 동양의 한방에서 오랫동안 인체진단을 위해 사용되어져 왔다는 것이고, 둘째는 신체조직에서 파동의 비선형전파특성이 의용진단에 유용한 정보를 준다는 것이다. 따라서, 혈관의 벽을 전파하는 맥동파의 비선형전파특성은 의용진단을 위하여 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다는 것을 예측할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는, 혈관을 따른 두 지점에서 변위파형을 초음파 도플러 신호에 대한 직교검파에 의해 구하고, 여기에 바이스펙트럼해석과 볼테라모델전개를 적용하여 두지점 사이의 비선형 전달함수를 추정하며, 이것이 의용진단에 적용가능한지 모의샘플에 대하여 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

Numerical modelling and finite element analysis of stress wave propagation for ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete

  • Stress wave propagation through concrete is simulated by finite element analysis. The concrete medium is modeled as a homogeneous material with smeared properties to investigate and establish the suitable finite element analysis method (explicit versus implicit) and analysis parameters (element size, and solution time increment) also suitable for rigorous investigation. In the next step, finite element analysis model of the medium is developed using a digital image processing technique, which distinguishes the mortar and aggregate phases of concrete. The mortar and aggregate phase topologies are, then, directly mapped to the finite element mesh to form a heterogeneous concrete model. The heterogeneous concrete model is then used to simulate wave propagation. The veracity of the model is demonstrated by evaluating the intrinsic parameters of nondestructive ultrasonic pulse velocity testing of concrete. Quantitative relationships between aggregate size and testing frequency for nondestructive testing are presented.

실을 통한 맥진, 소위 현사진맥(懸絲診脈)에 관하여 (On the Pulse Diagnosis via a Thread, Namely "Xuanxizhenmai")

  • Objectives Although the faith that pulse diagnosis via a thread, namely "Xuanxizhenmai", had been applied to some women in royal families, is widely spread in East Asian countries, but it is still controversial that whether this faith is based on historical facts or just originated from some folk tales. So we provided some reasonable clues to interpret that faith. Methods The digitalized Annals of Joseon Dynasty and Twenty Five Books of Chinese History were used for historical example search. Conventional internet search engines are widely used for investigation of other examples and related interpretations. Additionally, a pilot observation with nylon threads and optical vibration detection devices was performed to confirm it's feasibility. Results Although there are a few evidences supporting Xuanxizhenmai's existence in Qing dynasty, no evidence was found to show it's existence in authoritative annals of Korea and China. The pilot observation showed that in optimal environment, some intense arterial pulse could be propagated dozens of centimeter, but it was not applicable to clinical needs. Conclusions Pulse propagation via a thread was proved to be reproducible within limited extents, but pulse diagnosis via a thread, namely Xuanxizhenmai, seem to have never been used for proper clinical purpose.
