Dual-Output Single-Stage Bridgeless SEPIC with Power Factor Correction

  • This study proposes a dual-output single-stage bridgeless single-ended primary-inductor converter (DOSSBS) that can completely remove the front-end full-bridge alternating current-direct current rectifier to accomplish power factor correction for universal line input. Without the need for bridge diodes, the proposed converter has the advantages of low component count and simple structure, and can thus significantly reduce power loss. DOSSBS has two uncommon output ports to provide different voltage levels to loads, instead of using two separate power factor correctors or multi-stage configurations in a single stage. Therefore, this proposed converter is cost-effective and compact. A magnetically coupled inductor is introduced in DOSSBS to replace two separate inductors to decrease volume and cost. Energy stored in the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor can be completely recycled. In each line cycle, the two active switches in DOSSBS are operated in either high-frequency pulse-width modulation pattern or low-frequency rectifying mode for switching loss reduction. A prototype for dealing with an $85-265V_{rms}$ universal line is designed, analyzed, and built. Practical measurements demonstrate the feasibility and functionality of the proposed converter.

  • Seven cases of canine babesiasis were observed by clinically, hematologically and immunologically in the Kyungbook and Pusan area from May 1961 to October 1963. And a survey was conducted on the rising pups for their babesia, infection in the broken out districts of the disease. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Severe cases of canine babesiasis due to the same agent have been encountered in various breed, of dogs in widely separated location in the Kyungpook and Pusan area. 2. The principal symptoms oserved in infected dogs were severe anemia, weakness, inappetence, moderate fever or subnormal body temperature, increased respiration and pulse, palpitation, icterus, hemogrobinuria and redish yellow defecation. 3. Of hematological findings, decrease in erythrocytes count, hemoglobin content was evident and severe anemic changes occured which were associated with macrocytic anisocytosis. The differential leucocytes counts showed a tendency to increased monocytes and decreased monocytes and decreased basophil. 4. The principal anatomic chabges observed in two cases of infected dogs were severe anemic and icteric changes, markedly enlarged spleen, and enlarged liver with distended gall bladder. 5. Haemaphysalis bispinosa was suspected as being the principal vector of the infection. 6. It was suspected that chronic canine babesiasis would prevailed widely in Kyungpook and Pusan area, and that dogs are raised in such infected environment usually suffer only from the mild, chronic form, which may be practically symptomless, while imported dogs usually suffer from the acute form of the disease.

Dual Inoculation of Native Rhizobium spp. and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: An Impact Study for Enhancement of Pulse Production

  • Fifteen Rhizobium spp. from nodules of 6 common pulses collected from 6 districts of Assam were studied for their infectivity, intrinsic antibiotic resistance, nitrogenase activity and effect of dual inoculation with two native Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi viz. Glomus mosseae(GM) and Gigaspora gilmarie(GG). Out of the 15 isolates 9 were found nodulation positive and 6 of them(AR1, BR8, BR12, AR10, UR10 & GR21) were subjected to intrinsic antibiotic sensitivity test of which AR1 showed resistance against all the 9 test antibiotics. Isolates AR1 and GR21 showed the highest(4.25 mole, $gm^{-1}hour^{-1}$) and the lowest(1.05 mole, $gm^{-1}hour^{-1}$) nitrogenase activity respectively. In Most Probable Number count, the maximum Rhizobium population $5.8{\times}10^5$, was found in both Blackgram and Greengram variety of pulses. The maximum dry weight of nodules(3.14 g), dry weight of shoot(10.08 g), nitrogen content(7.68 mg, $plant^{-1}$), chlorophyll content(1.89 mg, $g^{-1}$), phosphorus content of shoot(6.17 mg, $g^{-1}$) and yield(535.67 kg, $Ha^{-1}$) were found when AR1 dually inoculated with GM in Blackgram.

Conditional Signal-Acquisition Parameter Selection for Automated Satellite Laser Ranging System

  • An automated signal-acquisition method for the NASA's space geodesy satellite laser ranging (SGSLR) system is described as a selection of two system parameters with specified probabilities. These parameters are the correlation parameter: the minimum received pulse number for a signal-acquisition and the frame time: the minimum time for the correlation parameter. The probabilities specified are the signal-detection and false-acquisition probabilities to distinguish signals from background noise. The steps of parameter selection are finding the minimum set of values by fitting a curve and performing a graph-domain approximation. However, this selection method is inefficient, not only because of repetition of the entire process if any performance values change, such as the signal and noise count rate, but also because this method is dependent upon system specifications and environmental conditions. Moreover, computation is complicated and graph-domain approximation can introduce inaccuracy. In this study, a new method is proposed to select the parameters via a conditional equation derived from characteristics of the signal-detection and false-acquisition probabilities. The results show that this method yields better efficiency and robustness against changing performance values with simplicity and accuracy and can be easily applied to other satellite laser ranging (SLR) systems.

토양 수분 측정을 위한 유전율식 쎈서 연구 (Application of Dielectric Sensor for Soil Moisture Measurement)

  • 물의 높은 유전율을 이용하여 토양 수분함량을 검정하고저 피복 절연 철봉을 토양에 박아 두 극으로 하는 토양 매질 콘덴서에 RC발진회로를 적용하여 주기를 조사하거나 또는 10 mega Herz Pulse 투여시 최대 저장(貯藏) 전압을 검정하는 방식으로 수분 변화에 따른 토양의 유전율을 조사하였다. 주기식 쎈서에선 토양 콘덴서의 용량이 영점 조정후 표준 콘덴서에 비교된 백분율로 출력되었는데 쎈서봉을 물에 담근 깊이와 선형적 관계에 있었다. 여러 개의 쎈서를 가까운 거리에 설치하면 쎈서봉이 안테나 역할을 하여 RC 발진에 교란이 있었으며 변온에 따른 출력 보정 함수를 제시했다. 토양 수분 함량과 출력사이에 높은 상관성이 있으나 쎈서 붕이 설치된 깊이 및 방향에 따라 출력반응이 변화하므로 사용자가 설치후 출력을 토양수분으로 변환하는 함수를 구하여야 한다. 전압식 쎈서에선 출력이 토양수분 함량과 역함수적 관계에 있어 토양 수분 정밀 계측용으론 적합치 않으나 구성 부품이 적고 노화가 느리어 토양 수분의 간이 검정에 적합하고 출력 전압에 따라 relay를 개폐하되 개폐 전압을 사용자가 설정할 수 있는 회로를 첨부하여 수위 조절 또는 토양수분에 따른 관개 line개폐에 활용한 결과 재현성이 우수하였다.

각종 치과레이저의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 증식 및 기능억제 효과 (INHIBITORY EFFECT OF DENTAL LASERS ON THE GROWTH AND THE FUNCTION OF STREPTOCOCCUS MUTANS)

  • 레이저의 구강내 산 생성 세균인 S. mutans에 대한 증식 및 기능 억제효과를 평가하기 위하여 S. mutans KCTC 3065가 포함된 세균 pellet에 Er:YAG 레이저와 Nd:YAG 레이저를 비접촉식 방법으로, 조사세기 50mJ, 조사시간 5초, 그리고 pulse repetition rate를 각각 10Hz와 30Hz로 하여 조사하고 세균 군락수, 산 생성능, 불용성 세포외다당류의 합성량을 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우가 S. mutans의 증식을 가장 많이 억제하였으며 Er:YAG 레이저 조사도 증식을 억제하였다. 그러나 Chinese ink를 사용하지 않고 Nd:YAG 레이저를 단독으로 조사한 경우는 S. mutans의 증식을 억제하지 못하였다. 레이저 조사조건 중 pulse repetition rate는 전반적으로 세균 증식 억제에 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 2. Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우가 일정기간 동안 S. mutans의 산생성능을 가장 많이 억제하였으며 Er:YAG 레이저 조사도 산 생성능을 억제하였다. Chinese ink를 사용하지 않고 Nd:YAG 레이저를 단독으로 조사한 경우는 S. mutans의 산생성능을 억제하지 못하였다 Er:YAG 레이저와 Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우는 pulse repetition rate가 클수록 전반적으로 세균의 산생성능을 더 많이 억제하였다. 3. 레이저 조사는 S. mutans의 불용성 세포외다당류의 합성에 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 Er:YAG 레이저와 Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후의 Nd:YAG 레이저 조사는 일정시간 동안 S. mutans의 증식과 산 생성능을 억제시키므로써 치아우식증 예방효과를 얻을 수 있다고 사료되나 억제효과가 오래가지 않아 임상적으로 효과를 얻기 위해서는 자주 조사를 해주어야 한다는 문제점을 안고 있어 임상적으로 치아우식증 예방이란 단독 목적으로 사용하기에는 실용성이 크지 않다고 사료된다.

액체섬광계수기를 이용한 토양 중 226Ra 분석 방법 연구 (Study of the determination of 226Ra in soil using liquid scintillation counter)

  • 액체섬광계수기(Liquid Scintillation Counter, LSC)를 이용한 토양 중 226Ra 분석 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 용융법으로 토양에서 Ra을 추출하고, Ba(Ra)SO4로 침전시켜 방해핵종과 Ra을 분리하였다. Ba(Ra)SO4를 산에 녹을 수 있는 Ba(Ra)CO3로 변환시키고, 라돈 가스를 포집할 수 있는 소수성 섬광용액과 혼합한 다음, LSC로 분석하였다. 226Ra과 90Sr 표준시료를 이용하여 최적의 PSA(Pulse shape analysis, 파형분석) 준위를 설정하였다. FOM(Figure of merit, 성능지수)이 최대이고 알파선 중첩정도가 최소로 나타나는 PSA 80을 최적값으로 결정하였다. Glass vial을 사용했을 때 계측 효율은 243±2% 이다. 본 연구에서 개발한 분석법은 IAEA-312, IAEA-314, IAEA-315를 이용하여 그 신뢰도를 평가를 하였다. 회수율은 60~82% 이며, 측정값과 참고값과의 상대편의가 10 % 이내였다. 최소검출농도는 토양 1 g, 바탕 계수율 0.02 cpm일 때, 회수율 70 %, 계측시간 30 분을 기준으로 2.1 Bq kg−1 이다.

신생 백서 척수후근절의 슈반세포 배양을 위한 Ara-C 분열억제제의 최적 효과에 대한 연구 (THE MOST APPROPRIATE ANTIMITOTIC TREATMENT OF ARA-C IN SCHWANN CELL-ENRICHED CULTURE FROM DORSAL ROOT GANGLIA OF NEW BORN RAT)

  • Schwann cell, one of important components of peripheral nervous system, interact with neurons to mutually support the growth and replication of embryonal nerves and to maintain the different functions of adult nerves. The Ara-C, known as an antimitotic agent, have been used to have high effectiveness in eliminating fibroblasts during Schwann cell culture period. This enrichment effect is also known to be cummulative with each successive pulse of Ara-C applied and is due to a progressive loss of fibroblasts. But the cytotoxicity by Ara-C is also cummulative and noticeable over the period. To determine the most effective application time and interval of Ara-C in the Schwann cell culture, we observed the Schwann cell purity and density with the Ara-C treatment in plain and three-dimensional culture from dorsal root ganglion of new born rat. By culturing dispersed dorsal root ganglia, we can repeatedly generate homogenous Schwann cells, and cellular morphology and cell count with mean percentages were evaluated in the plain culture dishes and in the immunostainings of S-100 and GFAP in the three-dimensional culture. The Ara-C treated cultures showed a higher Schwann cell percentage ($31.0%{\pm}8.09%$ in P4 group to $65.5%{\pm}24.08%$ in P2 group), compared with that obtained in the abscence of Ara-C ($17.6%{\pm}6.03%$) in the plain culture after 2 weeks. And in the three-dimensional culture, S-100 positive cells increased to $56.22%{\pm}0.67%$ and GFAP positive cells to $66.46%{\pm}1.83%$ in G2 group (p<0.05), higher yield than other groups with Ara-C application. Therefore, we concluded that the Ara-C treatment is effective for the proliferation of Schwann cells contrast to the fibroblasts in vitro culture, and the first application after 24 hours from cell harvesting and subsequent 2 pulse treatment (P2 group in plain culture and G2 group in three-dimensional culture) was more effective than other application protocols.

진성난수 생성기를 위한 베타선 센서 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of a Beta Ray Sensor for True Random Number Generators)

  • 본 논문에서는 진성난수 생성기를 위한 베타선 센서를 설계하였다. PMOS 피드백 트랜지스터의 게이트를 DC 전압으로 바이어스하는 대신 PMOS 피드백 트랜지스터에 흐르는 전류가 PVT 변동에 둔감하도록 설계된 전류 바이어스 회로를 mirroring하게 흐르도록 하므로 CSA의 signal voltage의 변동을 최소화하였다. 그리고 BGR (Bandgap Reference) 회로를 이용하여 공급된 정전류를 이용하여 신호 전압을 VCOM 전압 레벨까지 충전하므로 충전 시간의 변동을 줄여 고속 감지가 가능하도록 하였다. 0.18㎛ CMOS 공정으로 설계된 베타선 센서는 corner별 모의실험 결과 CSA 회로의 최소 신호전압과 최대 신호전압은 각각 205mV와 303mV이고, pulse shaper를 거친 출력 신호를 비교기의 VTHR (Threshold Voltage) 전압과 비교해서 발생된 펄스의 최소와 최대 폭은 각각 0.592㎲와 1.247㎲로 100kHz의 고속 감지가 가능한 결과가 나왔으며, 최대 100Kpulse/sec로 계수할 수 있도록 설계하였다.
