  • Spatial information is geometrical information combined with the properties of an object. In city areas where unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) usage demand is high, it is necessary to determine the appropriate driving altitude considering the height of buildings for safe driving. In this study, we propose a data-provision method that generates the driving altitude of UAVs with a pseudo-3D building model. The pseudo-3D building model is developed using high-precision spatial information provided by the National Geographic Information Institute. The proposed method generates the driving altitude of the UAV in terms of tile information, including the UAV's starting and arrival points and a straight line between the two points, and provides the data to users. To evaluate the efficacy of the proposed method, UAV driving altitude information was generated using data of 763 551 pseudo-3D buildings in Seoul. Subsequently, the generated driving altitude data of the UAV was verified in AirSim. In addition, the execution time of the proposed method and the calculated driving altitude were analyzed.

  • Many researches have been tried to extract building models and created a 3D cyber city from LiDAR data. In this paper, the approach of extracting complex building by using airborne LiDAR data combined with airborne orthoimagery has been performed. The pseudo-building elevations were derived from modified discrete return LiDAR data. Based on information property of the pseudo-height, building features could be extracted. The results of this study indicated the improvement of building extraction.

  • Business utilization of holograms is widely used as a similar hologram. The use of holograms has been proposed in many cases. In this paper, we present an outline of similar holograms using up to 3 or 4 facets, and express the similar holograms using the results produced by 3D modeling for a building from dealing with the representation of buildings from hololens to pseudo-hologram by using 3D modeling results. In addition, to reflect the real image of the disadvantage of modeling, we propose a method to enhance the 3D expression of the object by reflecting the actual building surface on the 3D model through photographing. Virtual building seen by the human eye can be virtually shown in space through a hologram among various methods shown in a virtual space such as AR / VR / MR. Through this study, it will be possible to express holograms of various materials such as buildings or cultural properties with enhanced realism.

  • The systemization of construction information is required over whole life cycle of facilities to improve productivity of construction industry. BIM(Building Information Modeling) is a technology to manage information based on 3D information model. It has been actively suggested as one of the alternatives. However, it may be currently concentrated on the large project while the small and medium project based on BIM are slightly treated in indifference. In the case of small and medium project, the loss of information has been occurred more seriously than large project. However, it is hard to introduce BIM to the small and medium companies due to the lack of investment resources. This study has been performed to set up information management system based on BIM considering characteristics of small and medium project without excessive investment. In this study, pseudo BIM is defined as BIM for small and medium project. The concept of pseudo BIM has been suggested. The PLIB of ISO and construction information classification system of MOLIT in Korea are used to construct data dictionary for pseudo BIM. A pilot test is performed to verify the effectiveness of pseudo BIM.

  • LiDAR system has become a popular tool for generating 3D surface data such as Digital Surface Model. Extraction of valuable information, such as digital building models, from LiDAR data has been an attractive research subject. This research addresses to extract planar patches from LiDAR data. Planar patches are important primitives consisting of man-made objects such as buildings. In order to determine the best fitted planes, this research proposed a method to reduce/eliminate the impact of the outliers and the intersection areas of two planes. After finishing plane fitting, planar patches are segmented by pseudo color values which are calculated by determined three plane parameters for each LiDAR point. In addition, a segmentation procedure is conducted using the pseudo color values to find planar patches. This paper evaluates the feasibility of the proposed method using both airborne and terrestrial LiDAR data.
