  • UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) has been made by the comparison results and the statistical analysis of primary clocks maintained by national standard institutes. Some kinds of technique have been used for international time transfer; since 1980s the study on methods and development of time transfer has conducted with activation of GPS application. And the more accurate and easier method made it use the official time transfer method for the generation of UTC. But recently TWSTFT (Two-Way Satellite Time and Frequency Transfers) as well as GPS time transfer are increasing in number because the TWSTFT is able to improve the accuracy and precision of time comparison owing to the elimination of the ionospheric and tropospheric delay errors thanks to the reciprocal propagation path. In this paper, we introduce the TWSTFT results by a multi-channel modem comparing with GPS P3-code.

  • For a practical mobile robot team such as carrying out a search and rescue mission in a disaster area, the localization have to be guaranteed even in an environment where the network infrastructure is destroyed or a global positioning system (GPS) is unavailable. The proposed architecture supports localizing robots seamlessly by finding their relative locations while moving from a global outdoor environment to a local indoor position. The proposed schemes use a cooperative positioning system (CPS) based on the two-way ranging (TWR) technique. In the proposed TWR-based CPS, each non-localized mobile robot act as tag, and finds its position using bilateral range measurements of all localized mobile robots. The localized mobile robots act as anchors, and support the localization of mobile robots in the GPS-shadow region such as an indoor environment. As a tag localizes its position with anchors, the position error of the anchor propagates to the tag, and the position error of the tag accumulates the position errors of the anchor. To minimize the effect of error propagation, this paper suggests the new scheme of full-mesh based CPS for improving the position accuracy. The proposed schemes assuring localization were validated through experiment results.

  • The back propagation(BP) algorithm allows multilayer feedforward neural networks to learn input-output mappings from training samples. It iteratively adjusts the network parameters(weights) to minimize the sum of squared approximation errors using a gradient descent technique. However, the mapping acquired through the BP algorithm may be corrupt when errorneous training data are employed. In this paper two types of robust backpropagation algorithms are discussed both from a theoretical point of view and in the case studies of nonlinear regression function estimation and handwritten Korean character recognition. For future research we suggest Bayesian learning approach to neural networks and compare it with two robust backpropagation algorithms.

  • As the role of software increases in computing environments, issues in software security become more important problems. Dynamic taint analysis is a technique to trace and manage tainted data originated from unreliable sources during the execution of a program. This analysis can be applied to software security verification as well as software behavior understanding, testing unexpected errors, or debugging. In the previous researches, they focussed only to show the analysis results of dynamic taint analysis, and they did not logically describe propagation process of tainted data and analysis procedures. So, there were difficulties in understanding the analysis procedures or applying to other analysis. In this paper, by theoretically describing the analysis procedure, we logically show how the propagation process of tainted data can be traced, and present a theoretical model for dynamic taint analysis. In addition, we verify the correctness of the proposed model by implementing an analyser, and show that propagation of tainted data can be traced by the model. The proposed model can be applied to understand the analysis procedures of data flows in dynamic taint analysis, and can be used as an base knowledge for designing and implementing analysis method, which applies such analysis method.

  • Atmospheric propagation effects at millimeter wavelengths can significantly alter the phases of radio signals and reduce the coherence time, putting tight constraints on high frequency Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations. In previous works it has been shown that non-dispersive (e.g. tropospheric) effects can be calibrated with the frequency phase transfer (FPT) technique. The coherence time can thus be significantly extended. Ionospheric effects, which can still be significant, remain however uncalibrated after FPT, as well as the instrumental effects. In this work, we implement a further phase transfer between two FPT residuals (i.e. so-called FPT2) to calibrate the ionospheric effects based on their frequency dependence. We show that after FPT2, the coherence time at 3 mm can be further extended beyond 8 hours, and the residual phase errors can be sufficiently canceled by applying the calibration of another source, which can have a large angular separation from the target (> $20{\circ}$). Calibrations for all-sky distributed sources with a few calibrators are also possible after FPT2. One of the strengths and uniqueness of this calibration strategy is the suitability for high frequency all-sky survey observations including very weak sources. We discuss the introduction of a pulse calibration system in the future to calibrate the remaining instrumental effects and allowing the possibility of imaging the source structure at high frequencies with FPT2, where all phases are fully calibrated without involving any sources other than the target itself.

  • Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) is a reliable multi-service system for reception by mobile and portable receivers. DMB system allows interference-free reception under the conditions of multipath propagation and transmission errors using COFDM modulation scheme, simultaneously, needs powerful channel error's correction ability. Viterbi Decoder for DMB receiver uses punctured convolutional code and needs lots of computations for real-time operation. So, it is desired to design a high speed and low-power hardware scheme for Viterbi decoder. This paper proposes a combined add-compare-select(ACS) and path metric normalization(PMN) unit for computation power. The proposed PMN architecture reduces the problem of the critical path by applying fixed value for selection algorithm due to the comparison tree which has a weak point from structure with the high-speed operation. The proposed ACS uses the decomposition and the pre-computation technique for reducing the complicated degree of the adder, the comparator and multiplexer. According to a simulation result, reduction of area $3.78\%$, power consumption $12.22\%$, maximum gate delay $23.80\%$ occurred from punctured viterbi decoder for DMB system.
