  • In order to apply strategic advanced project management to the Korean construction industry, the study conducted a comparative analysis of the project management body of knowledge of the advanced countries such as the USA and Japan as well as Europe. As a result, it was found that the connection to 'execution' of 'strategy' was highlighted as a common main issue in the theoretical background of project management body of knowledge, and strategic planning, which aligns 'program management' based on the integration of multiple project management and operations in single project with 'portfolio management' for selection and concentration, has been emphasized. Accordingly, the study built up the framework for the application of strategic advanced project management for strategic action in the Korean construction industry and proposed the following applicable solutions for implementation into the current Korean construction industry: 1) Innovate global competitiveness by preparing an 'ideology and philosophy' for the strategic action of an organization, 2) Establish a strategic 'environment' in consideration of the culture and structure of an organization, 3) Propose a strategic 'vision' for attaining a realizable goal within an organization, 4) Create an 'investment' on the portfolio in line with the strategy, 5) 'Execute' the program through the portfolio and project management. Lastly, the study brought up strategies for sustainable growth by applying strategic advanced project management to the Korean construction industry with a view to acquiring 'Performance' through the implementation and operation of their integrated system.

  • It is necessary to have measurement and analysis activity for managing software project. At least, every project measures time and cost in order to figure it out whether it will finish within its deadline. CMMI has Measurement and Analysis process in Maturity Level 2. In Measurement and Analysis process, Indicators for decision making in project management are defined and analysis procedure of the measurements to get the indicators are specified. Also, the way of collecting the data and storing them is also planned. Establishing efficient and effective measurement and analysis process in the organization by improving existing process is very important for project success. In this paper, we provide a method for analyzing the measurement and analysis process and improving it based on IDEAL model. It will support the organizations which are trying to adopt CMMI to establish measurement and analysis process.

  • Six Sigma has been disseminated into a variety of areas. It is believed that a stepwise understanding of Six Sigma's DMAIC is required for successes of unit projects. Meanwhile, infra-structure factors, such as leadership, organization, personnel management, educational system, etc., are also important to safely implant the Six Sigma into the whole enterprise and to thoroughly create the culture of innovation and enterprise. Careful analysis of those elements makes it possible to draw common connection between Project Management and the Six Sigma. This study drives the success elements for the successful adoption of the Six Sigma in the Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., of which management was evaluated as one of the tops based on the results of 2007 Management Innovation Assessment and arranges the similarity of like this factor and Enterprise Project Management. The results of this study are expected to provide a useful guideline for the adoption of the Six Sigma in whole company level.

  • This paper explores the determinants of the innovation impact of publicly funded R&D projects along three broad dimensions, namely project, firm and market-related factors. In addition to these factors we examine the attributes of the research result per se and aspects of the commercialization process. The observations from empirical and qualitative analyses are based on R&D projects funded by the Fifth and Sixth Research Framework Programmes of the European Union. Firm size, prior experience, innovation culture, the nature of the project itself, explicit intension to commercialize, consortium management and strategy are the factors with the strongest effect on project success, defined in terms of product/process innovation and/or technical knowledge creation. The paper provides important implications for the organization, objectives, and management of public programmes that fund R&D and for project and participant selection.

Results: In this project, activists worked by gathering the opinions of the residents and focusing on their growth. The residents themselves established a community health care plan. Based on social determinants of health, they continued projects to solve residents' needs. A variety of programs were activated by providing a health cafe, which was an alternative public participation health promotion space that was not a clinic or a public health center. As the various entities gathered, there were difficulties related to interests and role sharing, and there were limitations such as the fact that the performance and limit of the pilot project could not be clearly predicted beforehand. • Project management information systems (PMIS) have been implemented to support cooperation among the participants of construction projects. Unlike other information systems used by members from an organization with similar culture and business environment, the PMIS are members from one-off fragmented project organization with diverse professional background. Successful operation is significantly affected by the tendencies of client's side and individual awareness of participants. In this regard, it is imperative to evaluate the success of the system based on the individual characteristics of PMIS users. Thus, this study proposes a method for determining the system success by analyzing the extent of the effects of system factors such as System Quality, Information Quality, and Service Quality and individual factors such as a user's IT application ability, Extrinsic Motivation to achieve User Satisfaction, and loyalty. Accordingly, a structural equation model (SEM), an effective tool to examine of the comprehensive structure of a causal relationship, is applied for analysis because the internal awareness of individuals is established as a variable.

  • As the recent paradigm of education changes to become learner-centered, there is an increasing interest in project based class as one of new teaching models. Universities are accepting this change and aiming at fostering human resources of next generations, who are able to create creative changes, and studies are being actively conducted to that end. This study suggested a learner-centered teaching model which minimizes intervention of teachers in conducting projects of main text contents in designed subjects. This study suggested support system for the suggested model project-based class, team organization method, various interaction methods of learners, and team work monitoring method of teachers. And the suggestions were designed and realized through project management applications using smart phones which are being used by a rapidly growing number of people recently.

  • ERP is a topic of currency in MIS circle. Numerous organization have developed their information systems using many kinds of ERP packages such as Oracle, SAP R/3, uniERP, etc. However, the pricing methodology of ERP systems is not yet established in a proper way. This paper attempts to investigate factors influencing the price of ERP system. Thirty eight ERP consulting firms participated in this research project. Based on the data from ERP consulting firms, price of ERP systems basically consist of package cost, consulting fee, and customizing expense. The results of this research project are finding factors affecting above three parts that consist price of ERP system. This paper found that factors influencing package price are number of modules, number of users, the degree of package reliability. The factors affecting consulting fee are the degree of project specialty, level of consultants. Finally the factors influencing customizing cost are the degree of project difficulty, project time.
