The purpose of this study is to evaluate the farmland scale improvement project and to present basic data for establishing a long-term improvement scheme of this project. Professional rice cultivators' farming scale after receiving the farmland scale improvement fund has increased compared to the situation before receiving the fund support. The average paddy fields increased by 220% (from 2.75ha to 8.82ha), the average upland increased by 27% (from 0.44ha to 0.56ha), and the average orchard land increased by 44% (from 0.25ha to 0.36ha). The rice production costs per 10a are estimated as 608,678won for below 3ha, 488,721won for 3-6ha, 487,431won for 6~10ha, and 425,313won for over 10ha, which decreased with increasing farming scale. The effects of the farmland scale improvement project on income variation are summarized as follows. 1) Average farm household income for all subjects has increased by 223 % (from 40,517,000won to 90,295,000won). 2) For each category, the results show that average farm household income has increased by 9,766,000won for below 3ha, 35,898,000won for 3~6ha, 42,822,000won for 6~10ha, and 72,697,000won for over 10ha.

The number of construction management firms has been increased as construction management delivery system has been active in Korean construction market. the capability of leading construction management professional, who is responsible for managing project administration, is important for commissioning construction management contracts. The quality of project proposal and the capability of leading construction management professional, which are assessed by the board of contract awarding committee, are the major contributors for commissioning the public construction management projects administered by the Korean public procurement service for contracting. Therefore, employing a very competent leading construction management professional is the critical strategy for awarding contract to the construction management firms' part. That is why the firms should secure a fixed number of leading construction management professional in a waiting list to proceed the contract commissioning process for expectant candidate projects, even if there is no project assignable to the leading construction management professionals. However, a measure that makes effectively use of the leading construction management professional in a waiting list has not been systematically implemented in the firms. In turn, the firm suffers considerable loss in a project personnel supply and demand plan. Expert opinions were obtained by the survey questionaries administered to top management of the construction management firms which are engaged in the construction management contracts for commissioning the public construction management projects administered by the Korean public procurement service either as principal or co-principal deliverer. This paper presents the findings obtained by investigating the actual employment state of the leading construction management professional in the waiting list and by analyzing the issues involved in mobilizing and demobilizing them. It contributes to implement a practical guide for searching effective solutions to the issues.

Th Rach Gia Bypass Project, to be implemented under EDCF Loan VNM-12, constitutes a strategically important part of the Greater Mekong Sub-region Southern Coastal Corridor Project(the GMS-SCCP). The main goal of the GMS strategy is to promote sustainable economic growth, improve employment, and achieve poverty reduction by tapping the comparative advantages of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. As a project manager who once took a responsible position for the completion of RGBP's detailed design, I would like to briefly introduce what our design team including the local sub-contractors had performed for the D/Design of this Project last year, especially in the field of highway, bridge and soft soil treatment method widely used in Mekong Delta area. With the performance of nearly two Projects due to the V.O. in one year on the prescribed time, it was a hard year but a rewarding one. To expand our horizon more about overseas projects, several recommendations for the brighter future of overseas projects are shown herein this paper.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the public dentist's professional education for 81 dentists employed at the public health centers and dental clinics in the National hospitals. The purpose of this education was to improve public dentist's abilities to perform their duties. The 3days education was from 28 May until 30 May in 2008. The total 81 participants consisted of 8 medical position dentists, 20 employment position dentists, and 53 public health dentists. The survey provided appraisal of the education and suggestion of the development after this education. The obtained results were as followings : l. The public dental health project for the disabled people(91.4%) was a top priority. The second rank was the public dental health education project (87.6%) and the public dental health project for the aged people(86.4%) was followed. 2. The participants agreed that public dentist's professional educational programs were necessary(87.6%). 3. The participants did not have difficulties in attending this education(56.8%). 4. The participants who participated in 2008 public dentists' professional education were satisfied with this educational programs(81.4%). 5. Not only did the public dentists need the preventive dentistry programs and the treatment of the disabled people but also needed the health administrative programs and the health statistical programs in the future.

This study is designed to analyze the trends of professional services in Landscape Architecture during the past 5 years(1987-1991) in Korea. The data were collected from 1,117 projects from 56 engineering and landscape architecture firms. The findings are summarized as follows: 1) The projects have been increased annually by 19 percent in numbers and by 47 percent in money terms. 2) The main sources of projects are local governments and corporations. However the private sector comprise 31 percent in projects number and 46 percent in money terms. 3) The public park and tourism site development comprise a half of the projects. Recently recreational forest, golf, amusement and large housing site development have increased very rapidly. 4) In terms of workscope they are devided by 'complex' project which include extensive engineering works and 'simple' project which contain mostly planting design. The former include receational project with average 5 or 6 months contract period, and the later include housing and building site design with 2 or 3 months period. 5) Two types of consulting firms are typical. One is comprehensive engineering firms with urban planning section and few landscape section. The other is specialized professional firms with urban planning or landscape architecture. 50 percent of the project was done by comhensive engineering firms and 60 percent was done by urban planning section. The implication of these findings are broad: Firstly, We have to meet the demands in private secter mostly in recreation and leisure related projects. Secondly, landscape architects and project managers need more professional skills and coordination ability to deal with 'complex' projects. Thirdly, to enhance the quality of professional services it is required to have enough work time and higher service fee through legal and institutional enforcements.

It is undeniable that teachers play the principal roles in education. This is why education and professional development of teachers are so important. Some of recent works have made this fact clearer. In America, in particular, many reports and research papers have recently been published on these problems. In this paper, we first introduce briefly the current system of education, employment, and professional development of mathematics teachers in Korea. And then we mention a research project on education of mathematics teachers. The final report of the project contains some suggestions for curriculums of the department for education of mathematics teachers. We describe one example of extended syllabus which implements those suggestions. The example is on Modern Algebra I.

The Saemangeum project, which began in 1991, is designed to convert about 120 million pyeong of mud flats into farmland and a reservoir by building a 33-kilometer seawall off the coast. Many scientists and specialists will continue to monitor and study the effects of the damming up and how it will affect the ocean environment. The long-term plans and visions for development of Saemangeum are needed.
