In order to examine the determinants of new product success, 217 winning products in Korean market are analyzed with a focus on merchantability. For the purpose of the analysis, dimensions of products are classified into function, aesthetics, economy, safety, usability, reliability, brand image, assurance, distribution channel, advertisement, DFE(desing for the environment). The major dimensions of sinning products were identified for each category of the products. The results this study would be a cue to the future direction of new product development.

The questionnaire survey was carried out to analyze the difference of consumers perception on apparel products presented in catalog, cable TV home shopping program, and internet shopping site. 676 men and 728 women participated in this survey and they were members of catalog shopping or cable TV home shopping companies or netizen. The results of this study show that the shoppers perception on apparel home shopping differed by the direct shopping media that they frequently utilize and by their demographic characteristics. The cable TV home shoppers had higher reliability on product quality than the shoppers using paper catalog or the internet shoppers. The cable TV home shopping members perceived that the apparel products available in cable TV home shopping were diverse and the information about the products was sufficient to decide purchase. The married women tend to think that the TV home shopping program provides diverse apparel products in the aspects of color, design, size and the information about the materials including fabric.

This study analyzes how the environmental values of fashion consumers influence the purchase satisfaction and repurchase intention of eco-friendly fashion products. The survey was conducted from June $1^{st}$ to $30^{th}$ in 2009, and 343 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results show that the environmental values is classified by environment conservative value, economical value, social altruistic value, and egocentric value. The social altruistic value of fashion consumers affects purchase satisfaction of eco-friendly fashion products. The social altruistic value, environment conservative value, and egocentric value affect the repurchase intention of eco-friendly fashion products.

This study clarified the correlation between the satisfaction of farm experience village visitors and the package design of farm specialty products and identified the factors to consider when improving the package design. It was found that the satisfaction with package design when purchasing farm specialty products affected the satisfaction of farm experience village visitors. In case of farm experience village visitors, they were more satisfied with the purchase when they were satisfied with the package design of farm specialty products they purchased. The results of analysis of correlation between the satisfaction of farm experience village visitors and the improvement of package design of farm specialty products showed that the important factors of package design are easiness of transport handling, easiness of storage, and functionality of packaging materials.

Recently, the technology for flexible electronics such as flexible smart phone, foldable displays, and bendable battery is under active development. With approaching the real commercialization of flexible electronics, the electrical and mechanical reliability of flexible electronics have become significantly important because they will be used under various mechanical deformations such as bending, twisting, stretching, and so on. These mechanical deformations result in performance degradation of electronic devices due to several mechanical problems such as cracking, delamination, and fatigue. Therefore, the understanding of relationship between mechanical loading and electrical performance is one of the most critical issues in flexible electronics for expecting the lifetime of products. Here, we have investigated the effect of monotonic tensile and cyclic deformations on metal interconnect to provide a guideline for improving the reliability of flexible interconnect.

In the analysis of product reliability, the fault tree is widely used since it shows the interrelations of the faults that lead to the product fault. A top-down approach based on experts’ experience is commonly used in the fault tree construction and the trees often take different forms depending on the intent of the analyst. In this work it is studied how to construct fault trees with the utilization of function trees obtained from analyzing the functions and sub-functions of products in order to suggest a generic way of fault tree construction. The function tree of a product is obtained by analyzing basic functions comprising the product main function in a bottom-up approach so that it enables to construct an objective fault tree. The fault tree for a scroll compressor is shown as an example.

This paper describes a reliability/durability test of the remanufactured steering gear units. There used to be government restrictions to remanufacture certain types of automotive components regarding safety of passengers. Nevertheless, scientific approach to sustainability and remanufacturing process provided solid evidence of highly beneficial sides of reusing the products. Failure mode analysis of the steering gear unit is performed and main failure is found out. The unit is remanufactured by fixing the failure and its quality is assessed through designing a new sequence of loading events. Oil leakage is witnessed as a possible failure and its volume is measured. Conclusions based on laboratory condition durability test are given at the end.

This paper describes the issues that must be considered for the diagnosis and improvement of home network systems during the product development phase, and what must be done to resolve the reliability problem when a system is about to enter the Japanese market. It suggests that after the product specifications are determined, an accurate analysis of the environment is needed, and should include factors such as the temperature, humidity and power source of the country concerned. Furthermore, the video standards, residential complex installation environment, wiring specifications, and approval standards must be considered. All the above processes are described in this paper through the case study. The purpose of this paper is that suggested procedures in this research is to be used as a reference for developing similar products in the future.

The oil pressure switch(OPS) for automobile is very important part to prevent an overheated engine and other problems by checking the operation of an engine oil system and displaying oil signs on a dashboard. OPS is the part that receives various stress caused by temperature, vibration, and corrosion in an engine room. Regarding existing steel OPS cases, there occur field errors due to the rust, and much concern comes from the low anticorrosion caused by CR6+ Free according to the restrictions of heavy metals. Therefore, the study analyzed average life, the failure rate, and reliability through the tests of performance according to temperature changes, mechanical strength, and run-test in order to confirm if the use of the oil pressure switch with Al of anti-corrosion can improves the reliability, instead of the existing steel products.

In the calendar and the advertising catalog, the surface Is usually coated by coating polypropylene film. The delamination failure of coating film depends on surface roughness and quality of the substrate paper. In this paper, the mechanisms of delamination failure between the coating film and the paper is investigated by using the root cause analysis as one of techniques of reliability evaluation. The papers used in failure analysis are three kind products made by two domestic and one foreign companies. It found that the main causes of delamination failure between the coating film and the paper were the creation of microvoids caused by shape of filler and their growth caused by contraction of paper.
