  • Music production, which is a new study, has been introduced and has become part of the curricula at the university music education level in Korea. However, because of the lack of experience and depth in the subject, an effective teaching and learning atmosphere has not yet been attained. It is therefore hard to find effective teaching and learning environments through traditional curricula which deliver a simple knowledge and technique methodology. Therefore, the most important methodology for school education in music production is to domesticate not only the learning of knowledge and skills, but also to design an ability to solve any problem that typically arise when students work in their actual job environments. The purpose of this study is to design a Web delivered problem based learning(PBL) system for studying sound systems effectively in Music production on the college level.

  • Reducing waste for the efficiency of production is becoming more important because of the rapidly changing market circumstances and the rising material and oil prices. The dispatching also has to consider the characteristic of production circumstance for the efficiency. The production circumstance has the non-identical parallel machines with rework rate since machines have different capabilities and deterioration levels in the real manufacturing field. This paper proposes a dispatching method, FTLR (Flow Time Loss Index with Rework Rate) for production efficiency. The goal of FTLR is to minimize flow time based on such production environments. FTLR predicts the flow time with rework rate. After assessing dominant position of expected flow time per each machine, FTLR performs dispatching to minimize flow time. Experiments compare various dispatch methods for evaluating FTLR with mean flow time, mean tardiness and max tardiness in queue.

  • Purpose: In protected crop production facilities such as greenhouse and plant factory, farmers should be present and/or visit frequently to the production site for maintaining optimum environmental conditions and better production, which is time and labor consuming. Monitoring of environmental condition is highly important for optimum control of the conditions, and the condition is not uniform within the facility. Objectives of the paper were to investigate spatial and vertical variability in ambient environmental variables and to provide useful information for sensing and control of the environments. Methods: Experiments were conducted in a strawberry-growing greenhouse (greenhouse 1) and a cherry tomato-growing greenhouse (greenhouse 2). Selected ambient environmental variables for experiment in greenhouse 1 were air temperature and humidity, and in greenhouse 2, they were air temperature, humidity, PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density), and $CO_2$ concentration. Results: Considerable spatial, vertical, and temporal variability of the ambient environments were observed. In greenhouse 1, overall temperature increased from 12:00 to 14:00 and increased after that, while RH increased continuously during the experiments. Differences between the maximum and minimum temperature and RH values were greater when one of the side windows were open than those when both of the windows were closed. The location and height of the maximum and minimum measurements were also different. In greenhouse 2, differences between the maximum and minimum air temperatures at noon and sunset were greater when both windows were open. The maximum PPFD were observed at a 3-m height, close to the lighting source, and $CO_2$ concentration in the crop growing regions. Conclusions: In this study, spatial, vertical, and temporal variability of ambient crop growing conditions in greenhouses was evaluated. And also the variability was affected by operation conditions such as window opening and heating. Results of the study would provide information for optimum monitoring and control of ambient greenhouse environments.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the thermoregulatory characteristics of feet and legs by comparing with the physiological responses according to the covering parts of lower limbs. Five healthy female subjects wore three types of clothing-covered legs and feet(LF-C) with long trousers and socks exposed the legs(L-E) with half trousers and socks and exposed the legs and feet(LF-E) with only half trousers-when the subjects rested at $25^{\circ}C$ and were exposed to 18$^{\circ}C$ for 90 min. Rectal temperatures (Tre) were maintained higher in LF-E than L-E and LF-C at both environments. Decreases of The after exposure to 18$^{\circ}C$ were significantly smaller in LF-E than L-E and LF-C and almost same in L-E and LF-C Heat production in both environments increases of heat production and weight loss after exposure to 18$^{\circ}C$ were not significant among three types of clothing. From these findings it would be suggested that the legs would play the little role of voluntary thermoregulation as vasoconstriction and the role of the legs depend on thermal conditions of feet while the feet play the positive role of voluntary thermoregulation in terms of heat conservation in cool environment.

  • Order Review/Release (ORR) System is the linkage between planning system and actual production. Reduction of the waiting time on the machines, work in process and lead time variation may be achieved by adopting ORR strategies. But researchers on the ORR do not agree on the effectiveness of ORR. Some say that the overall system flow time may be increased if ORR is adopted, but others say that ORR can reduce work in process, flow time and variation of flow time. The objective of this research is to clarify under what environments order release strategy is effective. Simulation study was conducted in a hypothetical job shop. The experimental results show that dispatching rule is much more important than ORR is in controlling the shop floor. But the results indicate that ORR can reduce mean shop flow time, average work in process and variation of shop flow time under such environments where utilization level is high and planned order is weekly released to the order pool. And the results also show that the effect of plan smoothing on the ORR is insignificant, which is inconsistent with the results of the previous researches.

  • Such changes that the digital paradigm brought propels a change of the value system itself in the existing society so that a way of thinking that differentiates oneself from others is getting much stronger. As public interests are higher in the image production on the internet, such authoring environments as development of related technologies, expansibility of information, and systematization of available information continue to change. Therefore, a variety of unique image presentations that fit to the changed environments are necessary and an expression method is indispensable for such image production. It suggests digital image application methods and examples that contain not just simple image distortion or variation but intrinsic significance. It is believed that it will be of good use to produce a variety of unique and innate digital images in the end.

  • The process of semiconductor(IC Package) manufacturing usually includes lots of complex and sequential processes. Many kinds of equipments are installed with the mixed concept of serial and parallel manufacturing system. The business environments of the semiconductor industry have been changed frequently, because new technologies are developed continuously. It is the main reason of new investment plan and layout consideration. However, it is difficult to change the layout after installation, because the major equipments are expensive and difficult to move. Furthermore, it is usually a multiple-objective problem. Thus, new investment or layout change should be carefully considered when the production environments likewise product mix and production quantity are changed. This paper introduces a simulation case study of a Korean company that produces packaging substrates(especially lead frames) and requires multi-objective decision support. $QUEST^{(R)}$ is used for simulation modelling and AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) are used for weighting of qualitative performance measures and solving multiple-objective layout problem, respectively.

  • The biological efficiencies of promising Pleurotus spp. were evaluated. Pleurotus ostreatus, Pleurotus tuberregium, and Pleurotus sajor-cajuwere investigated at temperatures of 22℃, 20℃, and 18℃ to determine their ability to adapt to temperatures that are likely to be found in subtropical regions. The experiment was conducted using a substrate comprising Popular sawdust 60% + cotton seed 20% + beet pulp 20% under a relative humidity of 65%. The results indicated that there were significant differences in terms of biological efficiency between the species: P. tuber regium 128.84% at 22℃, P. ostreatus 108.41% at 22℃, and P. sajor-caju is 80% at 20℃. The common temperatures at which all species showed the highest biological efficiencies were 22℃ and 20℃. Therefore, the production of the evaluated species was equal to or surpassed biological efficiencies reported in tropical environments, thereby demonstrating a potential opportunity to adapt to tropical environments without compromising quality standards.

  • Development of village chicken production can be a sustainable way of helping to meet the welfare needs of rural populations and raise their living standards. There is a dearth of information on research conducted to characterize, understand and develop the village chicken production systems in Zimbabwe. This review focuses on constraints, opportunities and research needs for the improvement of village chicken productivity in Zimbabwe. Village chicken production in Zimbabwe is extensive and dominated by indigenous chickens that exhibit remarkable adaptation to local environments. The multitude functions of village chickens, which include the provision of high quality protein meat and eggs, cash through sales and socio-cultural roles, are discussed in detail. Human gender aspects in village chicken production are highlighted. The factors that hamper village chicken productivity are reviewed together with opportunities and research needs. The major constraints include shortage of feed, poor health and housing management. Any improvements in these constraints may lead to sustainable increase in village chicken productivity.
