  • Material selection is one of the important activities in design and manufacturing. A selected material at the conceptual design stage affects material properties of the designed part as well as manufacturability and cost of the final product. Unfortunately there are not many accessible material databases that can be used for design. In this research, a web-based material database was constructed. In order to assist designers to compare different materials, two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphs were provided. Using these graphical tools, multi-dimensional comparison was available in more intuitive manner. To provide environmental safety of materials, the database included National Fire Protection Association publication Standard No.704. The web-based tool is available at http://fab.snu.ac.kr/matdb.

  • Let ${\gamma}$(G) be the domination number of a graph G. It is shown that for any $k {\ge} 0$ there exists a Cartesian graph bundle $B{\Box}_{\varphi}F$ such that ${\gamma}(B{\Box}_{\varphi}F) ={\gamma}(B){\gamma}(F)-2k$. The domination numbers of Cartesian bundles of two cycles are determined exactly when the fibre graph is a triangle or a square. A statement similar to Vizing's conjecture on strong graph bundles is shown not to be true by proving the inequality ${\gamma}(B{\bigotimes}_{\varphi}F){\le}{\gamma}(B){\gamma}(F)$ for strong graph bundles. Examples of graphs Band F with ${\gamma}(B{\bigotimes}_{\varphi}F) < {\gamma}(B){\gamma}(F)$ are given.

  • We propose a methodology to automatically extract the requirements from the documents and check the traceability between them. The documents include not only the text file but also PDF or image files. We also suggest a method to visualize the result with maps, numbers, and graphs. By comparing the results with those of expert reviews, we show that it is necessary to use knowledge-based method in future instead of the word-based method for improving the reliability. The results give more values when they are applied in already existing documents than those of newly developed product.

  • In this paper, we propose a matrix hypercube graph as a new topology for parallel computer and analyze its characteristics of the network parameters, such as degree, routing and diameter. N-dimensional matrix hypercube graph MH(2,n) contains 22n vertices and has relatively lower degree and smaller diameter than well-known hypercube graph. The matrix hypercube graph MH(2,n) and the hypercube graph Q2n have the same number of vertices. In terms of the network cost, defined as the product of the degree and diameter, the former has n2 while the latter has 4n2. In other words, it means that matrix hypercube graph MH(2,n) is better than hypercube graph Q2n with respect to the network cost.

  • A feature is a local shape of a product directly related to the manufacturing process. The feature plays a role of the bridge connecting CAD and CAM. In the process planning for he CAM, information on manufacturing is required. To get the a manufacturing information from CAD dat, we need to recognize features. Once features are recognized, they are used as an input for the process planning. In this paper, we thoroughly investigate the composite features, which are generated by interacting simple features. The simple features in the composite feature usually have precedence relation in terms of process sequence. Based on the reason for the precedence relation, we classify the composite features for the process planning. In addition to the precedence relation, approach direction is used as an input for the process planning. In the process planning, the number of set-up orientations are minimized whole process sequence for the features are generated. We propose a process planning algorithm based on the topological sort and breadth-first search of graphs. The algorithn is verified using sample products.

으로써 웹에서의 혁신적이며 크로스 사이트, 크로스 장르적인 컨텐츠 플래닝의 가능성을 시사하는데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.y used to some of interactive storytelling through hyper text in CD-ROM and web sites. • Wood-plastic composites (WPC) are gaining market share in the building industry because of durability/maintenance advantages of WPC over traditional wood products and because of the removal of chromated copper arsenate (CCA) pressure-treated wood from the market. In order to ensure continued market share growth, WPC manufacturers need greater focus on reliability, quality, and cost. The reliability methods outlined in this paper can be used to improve the quality of WPC and lower manufacturing costs by reducing raw material inputs and minimizing WPC waste. Statistical methods are described for analyzing stiffness (tangent modulus of elasticity: MOE) and flexural strength (modulus of rupture: MOR) test results on sampled WPC panels. Descriptive statistics, graphs, and reliability plots from these test data are presented and interpreted. Sources of variability in the MOE and MOR of WPC are suggested. The methods outlined may directly benefit WPC manufacturers through a better understanding of strength and stiffness measures, which can lead to process improvements and, ultimately, a superior WPC product with improved reliability, thereby creating greater customer satisfaction.

  • As the complexity in design and manufacturing activities of distributed virtual enterprises rapidly increases, the issue of process management becomes more critical to shorten the time-to-market, reduce the manufacturing cost and improve the product quality. This paper proposes a unified framework to manage design and manufacturing processes in a distributed environment. We present a methodology which utilizes process flow graphs to depict the hierarchical structure of workflows and process grammars to represent various design processes and design tools. To implement the proposed concept, we develop a process management system which mainly consists of a cockpit and manager programs, and we finally address a preliminary implementation procedure based on the Object Modeling Technique. Since the proposed framework can be a formal approach to the process management by providing formalism, parallelism, reusability, and flexibility, it can be effectively applied to further application domains of distributed virtual enterprises.

  • A tree is called starlike if it has exactly one vertex of degree greate. than two. In [4] it was proved that two starlike trees G and H are cospectral if and only if they are isomorphic. We prove here that there exist no two non-isomorphic Laplacian cospectral starlike trees. Further, let G be a simple graph of order n with vertex set V(G) : {1,2, …, n} and let H = {$H_1$, $H_2$, …, $H_{n}$} be a family of rooted graphs. According to [2], the rooted product G(H) is the graph obtained by identifying the root of $H_{i}$ with the i-th vertex of G. In particular, if H is the family of the paths $P_k_1,P_k_2,...P_k_2$ with the rooted vertices of degree one, in this paper the corresponding graph G(H) is called the sunlike graph and is denoted by G($k_1,k_2,...k_n$). For any $(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)\;\in\;{I_*}^n$, where $I_{*}$ = : {0,1}, let G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$ be the subgraph of G which is obtained by deleting the vertices $i_1,i_2,...i_j\;\in\;V(G)\;(O\leq j\leq n)$, provided that $x_i_1=x_i_2=...=x_i_j=o.\;Let \;G[x_1,x_2,...x_n]$ be characteristic polynomial of G$(x_1,x_2,...,x_n)$, understanding that G[0,0,...,0] $\equiv$1. We prove that $G[k_1,k_2,...,k_n]-\sum_{x\in In}[{\prod_{\imath=1}}^n\;P_k_i+x_i-2(\lambda)](-1)...G[x_1,x_2,...,X_n]$ where x=($x_1,x_2,...,x_n$);G[$k_1,k_2,...,k_n$] and $P_n(\lambda)$ denote the characteristic polynomial of G($k_1,k_2,...,k_n$) and $P_n$, respectively. Besides, if G is a graph with $\lambda_1(G)\;\geq1$ we show that $\lambda_1(G)\;\leq\;\lambda_1(G(k_1,k_2,...,k_n))<\lambda_1(G)_{\lambda_1}^{-1}(G}$ for all positive integers $k_1,k_2,...,k_n$, where $\lambda_1$ denotes the largest eigenvalue.
