Effect of Different Carrier Agents on Physicochemical Properties of Spray-dried Pineapple (Ananas comosus Merr.) Powder

  • The main purpose of this study is to examine the different physicochemical properties of spray-dried products. The carrier agents and powders after the spray-drying process were analyzed for encapsulation yield, moisture content, color parameters, total polyphenol content (TPC), antioxidant capacity (AC), bulk density, flowability, wettability, hygroscopicity, water solubility index (WSI), particle size and microstructure. The spray-drying process was carried out with different carrier agents including maltodextrin (MD) and the combination of maltodextrin and gum arabic (MD-GA) with MA/GA ratio of 70/30, dried at the inlet/outlet air temperature of 160 ℃/70 ℃, 4 bar, airflow rate of 70 ㎥·h-1 and feed flow rate of 750 mL·h-1. The results showed that the different carrier agents have significant influences on the physicochemical properties of the powder produced by the spray-drying method. In there, while the values of recovery efficiency and flowability of spray-dried products from MD are higher than those of spray-dried products from MD-GA combination, the opposite is true for the values of TPC, AC, bulk density and wettability, whereas hygroscopicity and WSI values are equally represented in both products.

  • This paper presents a methodology in which the knowledge of design intents and change requests is communicated unambiguously cross collaboration partners through features. The domain of application is focused on the plastic part design for enabling effective collaboration between the product design and plastic mold making. The methodology takes the feature-based design approach and allows design features and knowledge to be reused in plastic injection mold design. It shortens the mold design lead-time, reduces mold design efforts, and enables unambiguous and fast design change management between product and mold designers. These contribute to the reduction of product development cycle time.

  • 선박의 충돌 또는 좌초 사고에 대응하기 위하여 위험 화물을 운반하는 선박의 경우 이중 선체를 채용하고 있으나 이중선체의 충돌 에너지 흡수 정도와 내판의 파단 여부를 효과적으로 판단하는 기준은 아직 연구 대상으로 남아 있다. 본 연구에서는 실제선박의 충돌강도 해석을 하기 위해서 상용해석코드인 LS-DYNA3D를 사용하고 다양한 시나리오에 따라 동적 해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 46K의 Chemical/Product Carrier를 해석 대상 선박으로 정하여 하중 조건과 충돌 속도를 달리하여도 Energy-Indentation, Force-Indentation에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과 및 정의는 충돌 사고에서의 매커니즘과 충돌 강도 평가에 유익한 정보를 제공하게 될 것이라 판단된다.

Prediction of Ship Manoeuvrability in Initial Design Stage Using CFD Based Calculation

  • Better prediction of a ship's manouevrabilty in initial design stage is becoming more, important as IMO manoeuvring criteria has been activated in the year of 2004. In the present study, in order to obtain more exact and reliable results for ship manoeuvrability in the initial design stage, numerical simulation is carried out by use of RANS equation based calculation of hydrodynamic forces exerted upon the ship hull. Other forces such as rudder force and propeller force are estimated by one of the empirical models recommended by MMG Group. Calculated hydrodynamic force coefficients are compared with those obtained by empirical models. Standard manoeuvring simulations such as turning circle and zig-zag are also carried out for a medium size Product Carrier and the results are compared with those of pure empirical models and manoeuvring sea trial. Generally good qualitative agreement is obtained in hydrodynamic forces due to steady oblique motion and steady turning motion between the results of CFD calculation and those of MMG model, which is based on empirical formulas. The results of standard manoeuvring simulation also show good agreement with sea trial results.

반탄화를 통한 음식물쓰레기의 연료화에서 온도에 대한 영향 비교 (Effect of temperature on torrefaction of food waste to produce solid fuel)

  • 본 연구에서는 음식물쓰레기를 반탄화 하여 생성된 생성물의 특성 및 온도에 대한 영향을 비교하여 연료화 가능성을 파악하고자 하였다. 반응온도를 $180^{\circ}C{\sim}270^{\circ}C$ 조절하고 열전달방식을 질소가스 열전달방식과 열매체유 열전달방식으로 나누어 실험한 결과 생성물의 생산 수율과 수분함량은 온도가 높아짐에 따라 감소하였고 특히 $240^{\circ}C$이상에서는 수분감소 뿐만 아니라 열적변화도 확인 할 수 있었다. 반응온도가 낮을수록 열매체유 열전달방식이 수분감소에 더 좋은 열전달 효율을 보였지만 온도가 높아질수록 그 차이는 미미한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 발열량의 경우 초기 660 Kcal/kg 에서 질소가스 열전달방식 6,400 Kcal/kg 간접방식 6,890 Kcal/kg 으로 상승 되었고, 원소분석결과 반응온도가 상승할수록 반탄화 생성물의 탄소원소의 함량증가와 산소원소 함량 감소를 확인 하였으며 석탄밴드 분석결과 저급석탄에 가까운 H/C와 O/C의 범위를 나타내었다. 음식물쓰레기를 반탄화를 통하여 연료개질이 가능하다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 반응온도가 높아질수록 저급석탄에 더 가까워짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

의미론적 제품 데이터 모델 기반 초기 선체 구조 CAD 시스템 개발 (On the Development of an initial Hull Structural CAD System based on the Semantic Product Data Model)

  • In the initial stages of ship design, designers represent geometry, arrangement, and dimension of hull structures with 2D geometric primitives such as points, lines, arcs, and drawing symbols. However, these design information(‘2D geometric primitives’) defined in the drawing sheet require more intelligent translation processes by the designers in the next design stages. Thus, the loss of design semantics could be occurred and following design processes could be delayed. In the initial design stages, it is not easy to adopt commercial 3D CAD systems, which have been developed f3r being used in detail and production design stages, because the 3D CAD systems require detailed input for geometry definition. In this study, a semantic product model data structure was proposed, and an initial structural CAD system was developed based on the proposed data structure. Contents(‘product model data and design knowledges’) of the proposed data structure are filled with minimal input of the designers, and then 3D solid model and production material information can be automatically generated as occasion demands. Finally, the applicability of the proposed semantic product model data structure and the developed initial structural CAD system was verified through application to deadweight 300,000ton VLCC(Very Large Crude oil Carrier) product modeling procedure.

Purification and Characterization of Myristoyl-Acyl Carrier Protein Thioesterase from Iris tectorum

  • The myristoyl-acyl carrier protein (ACP) specific thioesterase from Iris tectorum was purified to a considerable homogeneity and characterized. The enzyme was eluted with a considerable stability by double-gradients using Triton X-100 and low ionic KCl or Na-phosphate through DEAE-52, Octyl-Sepharose, Q-Sepharose, and hydroxyapatite chromatoraphy. SDS-PAGE analysis showed a single band of 39 kDa. The native molecular weight was estimated to be 82 kDa by Sephacryl S-200 chromatography, indicating that the enzyme was a dimer. The thioesterase showed a chain-length specificity to myristoyl-ACP in preference to other-ACPs. The enzyme activity decreased by 1.0 mM myristate to about 27% of the original activity, whereas the remaining activity with decanoate was about 90%. The purified thioesterase was inhibited by myristoyl-CoA more than by myristate, suggesting that the myristoyl-AGP thiolesterase might be controlled by myristic acid and/or a subsequent product myristoyl-CoA. In addition, some biochemical characteristics of the enzyme were described.

A New Formulation System for Slow Releasing of Phosphorous Acid in Soil for Controlling Phytophthora Diseases

  • Phosphorous acid is known to effectively control various Oomycetes diseases. The phosphoric acid moves upward and downward through the xylem and phloem in plants. The sustainable forms of the slow releasing chemical in rhizosphere would be ideal to be up-taken by plants. Therefore, we developed a new system for phosphorous acid formulation using a carrier coated with polysaccharides. When the product was applied in rhizosphere, the adequate amount of phosphorous acid was consistently released up to 4 weeks in rhizosphere soils. While soil drenching with phosphorous acid at 1,000 ${\mu}g/ml$ and metalaxyl at 150 ${\mu}g/ml$ were not effective to control pepper Phytophthora blight for 4 weeks, direct application of our formulation product around basal stem of pepper plants resulted in excellent disease control effect against Phytophthora blight over 4 weeks. The application of 4 g of our product per plant was optimum to control the disease, and 8 g product/plant did not cause phytotoxicity. Based on the results, we conclude that the applications of the formulation product once or twice during cropping season can control Phytophthora diseases on various crops.

프런트 엔드 모듈 캐리어 어퍼 부재의 면품질 개선을 위한 금형설계 변경 (Design Modification of the Stamping Die for the Improvement of Surface Quality of the Front End Module Carrier Upper Member)

  • Design modification of the stamping die for the upper member of a front end module carrier is carried out in order to improve the surface quality of the final product. The small inferiority induced by wrinkling near the wall of the upper member has been inspected after the draw-forming process. The finite element analysis is pursued with the whole geometry in order to consider the complicated shape. The simulation shows that the excess metal is developed by the irregular contact of the blank the tool and it remains after the final stroke. This paper proposes two guidelines for the modification. One is to add the draw-bead near the critical region in order to increase the draw-in force. The other is to modify the tool shape such as the forming shape at the wall in order to absorb the excess metal before the final stroke. Simulation results show that the proposed guidelines both guarantee the improved surface quality.

인더스트리얼 캐리어를 위한 통합 선대관리 지원시스템 (Integrated Fleet Management Support System for Industrial Carrier)

  • This paper aims at developing an integrated fleet management support system for industrial carriers who usually control the vessels of their own or on a time charter to minimize the cost of shipping their cargoes. The work is mainly concerned with the operational management problem of the fleet owned by a major oil company, a typical industrial carrier. The optimal fleet management problem for the major oil company can be divided into two phase problem. The front end corresponds to the production operation problem of the transportation of crude oil, the refinery operation, and the distribution of product oil to comply with the demand of the market. The back end is to tackle the fleet scheduling problem to meet the seaborne transportation demand derived from the front end. Relevant optimization models for each phase are proposed and described briefly. Then a user-friendly integrated fleet management support system is built based on the proposed optimization models for both ends under Windows environment. A case study reflecting the practices of fleet management problem for the major oil company is carried out by using the system.
