To utilize effectively fish skin wasted from fish processing, a yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared by alkaline extraction method and the physico-chemical properties were examined. Conditions for the suitable extraction and decolorization for gelatin preparation from yellowfin sole skin are as follows: the skin is limed with 1.5% calcium hydroxide solution at $5^{\circ}C$ for 5 days, washed throughly with tap water, extracted with 6 volumes of water ($pH5.0{\sim}7.0$) to dehydrated skin for 3 hours at $50^{\circ}C$, and then bleached with 3% activated carbon. Though yellowfin sole skin gelatin was prepared under above condition, the physico-chemical property values such the melting point and gelling point of that were lower than those of pork skin gelatin. Therefore, the purified yellowfin sole skin gelatin requires a suitable modification operation for more a good quality gelatin manufacture.

Femto-second laser ablation with the various feed velocities of the Invar alloy and the micro surface milling for the processing condition were studied. We used a regenerative amplified Ti:sapphire laser with a 1kHz repetition rate, 184fs pulse duration time and 785nm wavelength. Femto-second laser pulse was irradiated on the Invar alloy with the air blowing at the condition of various laser peak powers and feed velocities. An ablation characteristic according to feed velocity of the Invar alloy was appeared as the non-linear type at different zone of energy fluence. The micro surface milling of the Invar alloy using a mapping method was investigated. The optimal condition of micro surface milling was laser peak power of 22.8mW, feed velocity of 1 mm/s, beam gap of $1{\mu}m$. With the optimal processing condition, the fine rectangular shape without burr and thermal damage was achieved. Using the femto-second laser system, it demonstrates excellent tool for micro surface milling of the Invar alloy without heat effects and poor edge.

The priming task was used in order to provide an experimental evidence on whether the processing unit of Korean syllable is antibody or not. Four types of experimental conditions were made: antibody overlap condition (e.g., sumjil -> sungjik), rime overlap condition (e.g.,: hungchik -> sungjik), onset and coda overlap condition (e.g.,: saengjeok -> sungjik), and no overlap condition (e.g.,: chanmeol -> sungjik). In addition, we manipulated the letter type by type and type in order to investigate on whether different degrees of priming are there for the priming task. The result showed that only type showed significant inhibitory effects. This implicates that certain Korean word would be represented and processed by the antibody unit, and further studies are needed to know the whole pattern of Korean word recognition.
Railway point machines act as actuators that provide different routes to trains by driving switchblades from the current position to the opposite one. Since point failure caused by the aging effect can significantly affect railway operations with potentially disastrous consequences, replacement detection of point machine at an appropriate time is critical. In this paper, we propose a replacement condition detection method of point machine in railway condition monitoring systems using electrical current signals, after analyzing and relabeling domestic in-field replacement data by means of OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) operations in the multidimensional data cube into "does-not-need-to-be replaced" and "needs-to-be-replaced" data. The system enables extracting suitable feature vectors from the incoming electrical current signals by DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) with reduced feature dimensions using PCA(Principal Components Analysis), and employs SVM(Support Vector Machine) for the real-time replacement detection of point machine. Experimental results with in-field replacement data including points anomalies show that the system could detect the replacement conditions of railway point machines with accuracy exceeding 98%.
Hot deformation behavior of a carbon steel (A350 LF2) was characterized by compression tests in the temperature range of $800-1250^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $0.001-10s^{-1}$, The microstructural evolution during hot compression was investigated and deformation mechanisms were analyzed by constructing a deformation processing map. Processing maps were generated using the combination of dynamic material model (DMM) and flow instability theories based on the flow stability criteria and Ziegler's instability criterion. In order to evaluate the reliability of the map, the mirostructural characteristics of the hot compressed specimens were correlated with test conditions in the stable and unstable regime. The combined microstructural and processing map of A350 LF2 was applied to predict an optimum condition and unstable regions for hot forming.
Solvent extraction experiments for separation of impurities from Ni-rich solution were carried out for manufacturing of high purity Ni compounds from acid leaching solution of spent Ni-Cd secondary battery. Artificial and leaching solutions were used as aqueous phases and PC88A saponified by sodium in kerosene were used as organic phase. The extraction order is Zn>Mn>Co>Ni and extraction percentage of metal ions was increased with increase of the concentration of extractant, initial pH of aqueous phase and ratio of O/A. The separation of cobalt, zinc and manganese from nickel was effectively accomplished at the condition of extraction stage=l, O/A=1 and initial pH 5.0 with 1.0 $mol/dm^3$ PC88A saponified to $50\%$ with NaOH.
Purpose: To compare the film density of Insight dental X-ray film (Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, NY, USA) with that of Ektaspeed Plus film (Eastman Kodak) under manual and automatic processing conditions. Materials and Methods : Insight and Ektaspeed Plus films were exposed at three different exposure conditions with an aluminum step wedge on the films under the three different exposure times. The exposed films were processed by both manual and automatic ways. The Base plus fog density and the optical density made by exposing step wedge were calculated using a digital densitometer (model 07-443, Victoreen Inc, Cleveland, Ohio, USA). The optical densities of the Insight and Ektaspeed film versus thickness of alumimun wedge at the same exposure time were plotted on the graphs. Statistical analyses were applied for comparing the optical densities of the two films. Results: The film density of both Insight films and Ektaspeed Plus films under automatic processing condition was significantly higher over the manual processing. The film density of Insight films was significantly higher than that of Ektaspeed Plus films on both automatic and manual processing conditions. Conclusion: The radiation exposure time can be reduced when using Insight over Ektaspeed Plus film. To take the full advantage of reducing exposure time, Insight film should be processed automatically.
In the current study, fundamental deep drawing characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy sheets were investigated to establish the effect of processing conditions on large size square deep drawn cups. To accomplish this study, FE-simulations (Abaqus) were performed to determine optimum blank size, friction coefficient, the gap between punch and die, etc. The simulated processing parameters were verified experimentally. Based on the FE-simulation results, deep drawing was performed with various blank holding loads and sample sizes. In order to improve the formability of Ti-6Al-4V sheet, various lubricant methods were evaluated. Tensile tests and thickness measurements were conducted on the formed sheets. Processing parameters including blank holding force, lubricants, and optimum blank size, were selected to achieve improved drawing quality. With the optimum processing condition, a $200mm{\times}200mm$ cup was deep drawn successfully.
We have demonstrated that solution-based fabrication of NiO films as HTL can be used for the construction of IOSCs. Type of solvent of NiO-solution, and annealing procedure of the active layers were optimized for obtaining a PCE of 3% of IOSC. The photovoltaic performance of NiO-based device is comparable to that of the same type of solar cell using PEDT:PSS instead of NiO. These solution-based processes can be a promising method for a mass production OSCs under ambient condition.
With the help of advanced image acquisition and processing technology, the vision-based measurement methods have been broadly applied to implement the structural monitoring and condition identification of civil engineering structures. Many noncontact approaches enabled by different digital image processing algorithms are developed to overcome the problems in conventional structural dynamic displacement measurement. This paper presents three kinds of image processing algorithms for structural dynamic displacement measurement, i.e., the grayscale pattern matching (GPM) algorithm, the color pattern matching (CPM) algorithm, and the mean shift tracking (MST) algorithm. A vision-based system programmed with the three image processing algorithms is developed for multi-point structural dynamic displacement measurement. The dynamic displacement time histories of multiple vision points are simultaneously measured by the vision-based system and the magnetostrictive displacement sensor (MDS) during the laboratory shaking table tests of a three-story steel frame model. The comparative analysis results indicate that the developed vision-based system exhibits excellent performance in structural dynamic displacement measurement by use of the three different image processing algorithms. The field application experiments are also carried out on an arch bridge for the measurement of displacement influence lines during the loading tests to validate the effectiveness of the vision-based system.
