  • The process design of forward Extrusion and Upsetting of Axi-symmetric part has been studied in this paper. During the cold forging product; auto transmission Solenoid Valve part, the defects such as folding and under-fill can be appeared by the improperly controlled metal flow. In this study, to reduce the folding and under-fill the design of experiments has been used to find out the significant design variables in the design of forging process. This paper deals with an Process Planning with which designer can determine operation sequences even after only a little experience in Process Planning of Multi-Former products by multi-stage former working. The approach is based on knowledge-based rules, and a process knowledge-base consisting of design rules is built. Based on the systematic procedure of process sequence design, the forming operation of cold forged auto transmission Solenoid Valve part is analyzed by the commercial Finite Element program, DEFORM/2D.

So this Paper suggests Index/XML Sequence Relation information system for product abstraction and classification, the system of design product Sequence Relation abstraction which can store, reuse design patterns in the meta modeling database with pattern Relation information. This is Index/XML Sequence Relation system which can easily change various relation information of product for product abstraction and classification. This system designed to extract and classify design pattern efficiently and then functional indexing, sequence base indexing for standard pattern, code indexing to change pattern into code and grouping by Index-ID code, and its role information can apply by structural extraction and design pattern indexing process. and it has managed various products, class item, diagram, forms, components and design pattern.

  • This paper deals with an automated computer-aided process planning and die design system by which designer can determine operation sequences even if they have a little experience in process planning and die design for axisymmetric products. An attempt is made to link programs incorporating a number of expert design rules with the process variables obtained by commercial FEM softwares, DEFORM and ANSYS, to form a useful package. They can provide a flexible process based on either the reduction in the number of forming sequences by combining the possible two processes in sequence, or the reduction of deviation of the distribution on the level of the required forming loads by controlling the forming ratios. Especially in die design module an optimal design technique and horizontal split die were investigated for determining appropriate dimensions of components of multi-former die set. It is constructed that the proposed method can be beneficial for improving the tool life of die set at practice.

  • Design is an iterative, generative, and multidisciplinary process by its nature. Iteration is frequent in most of the engineering design and development projects including construction. Design iterations cause rework, and extra efforts are required to get the optimal sequence and to manage the projects. Contrary to simple design, isolation of the generative iterations in complex design systems is very difficult, but reduction in overall iterations is possible. Design depends upon the information flow within domain and also among various design disciplines and organizations. Therefore, it is suggested that managers should be aware about the crucial iterations causing rework and optimal sequence as well. In this way, managers can handle design parameters related to such iterations proactively. Numbers of techniques are available to reduce iterations for various kinds of engineering designs. In this paper, parameter based Design Structure Matrix (DSM) is chosen. To create this DSM, a survey was performed and then partitioned using a model. This paper provides an easy approach to those companies involved in or intend to be involved in "design and build projects."

  • Caliber design in bar and rod rolling depends on the designer's experience, which in general is acquired through costly trial-and-error process. As a prerequisite for developing a scientific approach to caliber design, we present a finite element model to simulate 3-D deformation of bars and rods occurring in multi-pass sequence. The results are compared with measurements obtained from POSCO for to assess the solution accuracy. The comparison shows that the simulation results agree well experiments.

  • A computer-aided process design system for axisymmetric deep drawing products has been developed. An approach to the system is based on the knowledge based system. The hypothesized process outline of the deep drawing operations is generated in the geometrical design module of the system. In this paper, the module has been expanded. The rules of process design sechems for complex cup drawings are formulated from handbooks, experimental results and empirical knowhow of the field experts. The input to the system is final sheet-metal objects geometry and the output from the system is process sequence with intermediate objects geometries and process parameters, such as drawing load, blank holding force, clearance and cup-drawing coefficient.

  • The concept of homogeneous space which was made in during the modern architecture was criticize for making our circumstances uniformly. The difference of place disappeared. The concept of place, however, has been watching in Contemporary Architecture. A basis for the concept of place is 'movement in space'through the sense of the body. Thus, architectural methods for experiencing place are composing the sequence through the continuous time. It is important that the composition of sequences in place makes the spatial experiences with harmonies of architecture and environments in exterior space for people who enter the building. Tadao Ando makes place in terms of experiencing body. Compositions of sequence in his works are expressed very well at the approaching stages in the process of exterior space. This stud is to survey the compositions of approaching sequence in Tadao Ando's Works.

  • This paper deals with optimal stacking sequence design of laminate composite structures. The stacking sequence optimisation of laminate composites is formulated as a combinatorial problem and is solved using Simulated Annealing (SA), an algorithm devised based on inspiration of physical process of annealing of solids. The combinatorial constraints are handled using a correction strategy. The SA algorithm is strengthened by embedding Tabu search in order to prevent recycling of recently visited solutions and the resulting algorithm is referred to as tabu embedded simulated Annealing (TSA) algorithm. Computational performance of the proposed TSA algorithm is enhanced through cache-fetch implementation. Numerical experiments have been conducted by considering rectangular composite panels and composite cylindrical shell with different ply numbers and orientations. Numerical studies indicate that the TSA algorithm is quite effective in providing practical designs for lay-up sequence optimisation of laminate composites. The effect of various neighbourhood search algorithms on the convergence characteristics of TSA algorithm is investigated. The sensitiveness of the proposed optimisation algorithm for various parameter settings in simulated annealing is explored through parametric studies. Later, the TSA algorithm is employed for multi-criteria optimisation of hybrid composite cylinders for simultaneously optimising cost as well as weight with constraint on buckling load. The two objectives are initially considered individually and later collectively to solve as a multi-criteria optimisation problem. Finally, the computational efficiency of the TSA based stacking sequence optimisation algorithm has been compared with the genetic algorithm and found to be superior in performance.
