  • An attitude GPS receiver with 3 antennas obtains 3-dimensional attitude using GPS carrier phase measurement INS obtains the 3 dimensional navigation solution for IMU consisting of accelerometers and gyro. Ground-alignment process for the low -cost INS cannot be performed well due to the large sensor noise. Using the standard GPS receiver, however, continuous in-flight alignment for the INS becomes possible, and consequently, the errors in IMU sensors and navigation solution can be compensated. Especially with attitude measurement from the attitude GPS receiver, the compensation of errors in gyroscope and attitude would be done respite of the vehicle´s dynamics and their error covariance would be reduced. • Slipping during various kinds of movement often leads to potentially dangerous incidents of falling. The purpose of this paper was to review some of the research performed in the field including such topics as rating scales for balance, kinematics and kinetics of slipping, adaptation to slippery conditions, postural and balance control, and protective movement during falling. Controlling slipping and fall injuries requires a multifaceted approach. Environmental conditions (state of floor surface, tidiness, lighting, etc), work task (walking, carrying, pushing, lifting, etc), and human behavior (anticipation of hazards, adaptation to risks, risk taking, etc) must be accounted for in the assessment of slip and fall-related risks. Future directions of research must deal with modeling of basic tribophysical, biomechanical, and postural control process involved in slipping and falling.

  • Spot welding is frequently used for industrial purpose, such as automobile and aerospace industries and household appliances due to its high performance. In these day, robotization and systemization of welding process made it possible to produce more precise or smaller electric parts. And when it comes to welding of steel sheet, the size of nugget must be getting smaller. Therefore, welding conditions are limited to avoid defects, such as deformation, damage, weakening of joining area. In this research, the measurement of the nugget size by the nondestructive inspection has been conducted. As a result, the right estimation of the nugget size and void defects, the detection of corona bond near joining area, the selection of the optimum ultrasonic mode, and set up for ultrasonic inspection are studied. From the trustworthy solutions of nugget size estimated by results of measurement, the optimum inspection conditions depending upon the width of welding parts are determined as well.

  • High speed cutting is a machining process which cuts materials with the fast movement and rotation of a spindle in a machine tool. High speed cutting leaves a plastically deformed layer on the machined surface. This deformed layer affects in various forms to the surface roughness of machined parts such as the dimensional instability, the micro crack. The surface roughness is called surface integrity which is very important in precision cutting. This paper aims to study on the machined surfaces characteristics of aluminum alloy and brass by AFM(Atomic force microscope) measurement. The objective is contribution to ultra- precision cutting by exhibit foundation data of surface roughness and tool wear when parts are cutting with diamond tool at the factory.

  • This experiment has been carried out to measure the process of droplet formation between water phase fluid$(PVA\;3\%)$ and organic phase fluid(oil), Internal and External flow fields measured by a Dynamic Micro-PIV method Water-in-oil(W/O) droplets successfully generated at a cross junction and Y junction. Internal and external flow fields were measured when the droplet grew up, stretched and separated.

  • As a carrier of malaria and sneak of blood, mosquitoes are regarded as an unpleasant insect. However, there are novel phenomena that happen inside a mosquito. Among them, we focused on the blood sucking function of a female mosquito. The main objective of this study was to investigate the mosquito's pumping mechanism in order to resolve the problem encountered when we inject or transport biologic fluids into a micro-chip. To analyze the pumping mechanism, we visualized the blood sucking process inside a female mosquito. Flow characteristics of blood flow in a proboscis were investigated experimentally using a micro-PIV velocity field measurement technique. The anatomical variation of head, thorax, abdomen which work as pumps and valves, was visualized using the syncrotron X-ray micro-imaging technique.

  • The Accuracy of a free-form artifact is affected by machine tool errors, machining process errors, environmental causes and other uncertainty. This paper deals with methodological approach about machine tool errors that are defined the relationship between CMM and OMM inspections of the free-form artifact. In order to analyze the measurement data, Reverse engineering was used. In other words, Surface of Free-Form Artifact is generated by NURBS surface approximation method. Finally, Volumetric error map is made to compare surface of CMM data with that of OMM data.

  • In this paper, a computer automated system has been developed for measuring the focal length of camera lens using the MTF(Modurar Transfer Function) based on the signal processing around a line CCD and autocollimator. An optical Path for the focal length measurement system has been designed around thelight sourec, collimator, camera, mirror and the line CCD. The eyepiece of the collimator is replaced byline CCD, and the mirror is moved along the focal axis by a PC driven step motor. An efficient method has been designed for finding the optimum MTF value for the focal length based on the least squares approach. The developed system is fullycomputer automated: signal transmission to and from the camera, MTF evaluation based on the line CCD, step motor contorl, etc. The developed system has been applied to a practical camera manufacturing process and demonstrated its performance

  • This paper describes a ultrasonic method for direct measurement of tool wear in turning operations. An integrated single ultrasonic transducer operating at a frequency of 10MHz is placed in contact with the insert tip. The change in amount of the reflected energy form the nose and flanks of the tool can be related to the level of tool wear and thr mechanical integrity of the tool. As a results, a correlation exists between the untrasonic measurement and tool wear and that it is tool dependent.

  • When laser interference method is used to measure stress intensity factor with experiment, crack molded from teflon crack molding method is better than the crack manufactured through fatigue test. It is known that center distance between two indentations which is best for detecting the laser interference fringe order is about 80.mu.m with photodetector used in this research. Errors with measurement of stress intensity factor through laser interference are between 2% and 11%, therefore, experimental process and method developed in this research can be used with obtaining the more precision experimental data for stress intensity factors.
