  • This study discusses on the historico-genetic instruction on fraction. The textbooks of the current curriculum include the variety of contexts of fraction to be intended to connect with the conception of ratio in the grade 6. However mary elementary students have understanding limited to whole-part relation only. This study propose a method on the basis of the process of measurement by an absolute unit. The idea is related to The genesis of fraction in Egypt.

  • We performed the cross-cultural adaptation process directed at the translation into Korean of the Pain Visual Analogue Scale, the Self-Report of Improvement and the Beacke Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Adults. This project will help ensure that the Korean versions of these measures retain their meaning and measurement properties when applied to the Korean language and culture. This will help reduce measurement error in the RCT. This research should be of value to other researchers who wish to study older adults with rheumatological conditions.

  • Improvement of measuring accuracy is an essential part of quality control manufacturing process. The OMM is less than the CMM in measure accuracy but the OMM system is more efficient, easier to use than other measurement system. About 40~70% of the machine tool errors are induced by the thermal errors. Therefore, a key requirement for improving the measuring accuracy is to reduce the geometric and thermal errors. Thermal errors are measured by a ball bar system and predicted by the thermal error modeling. Furthermore, using the pre-defined thermal error map approach compensates the geometric accuracy of the OMM. Appropriate experiments are performed using ball-bar system, temperature measuring devices and touch-type probe. Compensated results are compared with those obtained using CMM to verify the proposed methods.

  • Generally, die polishing is a lime consuming process, resulting in 30∼50% of the whole die manufacturing time. However, die polishing has not been automated yet, since it needs a great deal of experience and skill. This paper describes a new development of automated system for die polishing and focuses on the successful achievements of the element techniques to realize from hand skill to automation, as followings: (1) The 5 axes polishing system by the aid of robot with 2 degrees of freedom, is developed for the application of curved surface die. (2) The CAM system realizes a 5 axes tool path control for polishing and measuring. (3) The conductive elastic tool is able to meet curved surfaces of die and gives a high efficient and quality polishing characteristics. (4) The surface roughness measurement device with noncontact laser is developed and has a high reliability without surface damage.

  • Image registration is an essential process to analyze the time series of satellite images for the purpose of image fusion and change detection. The Mutual Information (MI) is commonly used as similarity measure for image registration because of its robustness to noise. Due to the radiometric differences, it is not easy to apply MI to multi-temporal satellite images using directly the pixel intensity. Image features for MI are more abundantly obtained by employing a Gabor filter which varies adaptively with the filter characteristics such as filter size, frequency and orientation for each pixel. In this paper we employed Bidirectional Gabor Filter Energy (BGFE) defined by Gabor filter features and applied the BGFE to similarity measure calculation as an image feature for MI. The experiment results show that the proposed method is more robust than the conventional MI method combined with intensity or gradient magnitude.

  • Gravitational centers of precise spinning components must coincide with the rotational centers of those to reduce noise and vibration and to extend those lift as well. Therefore quality control should be performed in the manufacturing process, in which the unbalance moments are accurately measured. In this paper 3-point weighing method is adopted to measure the unbalance moment of small-sized precision spinning elements using electronic scales with 0.1 mg resolution. Firstly methods to eliminate the fixture error and to reduce the effects of frictional force that is known as side effect, are proposed. A measuring system is developed and various experiments are performed to verify the proposed approach. The measured and calculated values are analysed in statistical methods, and this provides the errors of the measuring system. The results show that the proposed theory and test procedures gives reliable unbalance moments and gravitational centers.

  • In the present study, an evaluation technology for heating channel layout was investigated in SMC molding system design. Conventional design rules of cooling channel in injection molding process were applied to the present work. Finite element thermal analysis with ANSYSTM was performed to evaluate the temperature distribution of mold surface. SMC mold was manufactured to test the effect of a proposed heating channel layout system on the temperature distribution of mold surface and infrared camera was applied to a measurement of temperature. It was shown that infrared camera application was possible in a measurement of temperature distribution on mold surface.

  • The ophthalmic lens manufacturing processes need to extract the aspherical surface equation from the unknown surface since its real profile can be adjusted by the process variables to make the ideal curve without the optical aberration. This paper presents a procedure to get the aspherical surface equation of an aspherical ophthalmic lens. Aspherical form generally consists of the Schulz formula to describe its profile. Therefore, the base curvature, conic constant, and high-order polynomial coefficient should be set to the original design equation. To find an estimated aspherical profile, firstly lens profile is measured by a contact profiler, which has a sub-micrometer measurement resolution. A mathematical tool is based on the minimization of the error function to get the estimated aspherical surface equation from the scanned aspherical profile. Error minimization step uses the Nelder-Mead simplex (direct search) method. The result of the refractive power measurement is compared with the curvature distribution on the estimated aspherical surface equation

  • Qualitative elevation of products is very important Part. A business racking us brains to find for qualitative elevation of products. Recently, measurement accuracy of a non-contact 3D scanner has been rapidly improving. As a result, the number application cases of non-contact 3D scanners are increasing. A non-contact 3D scanner is capable of measuring a curved surface rapidly and has high resolution. It is more affordable and potable than the CMMs, It is therefore expected to be applied more frequently in more diverse industries. Automating the measuring process using a non-contact 3D scanner and developing a technology, which allows a user to measure easily, will eventually improve the quality of products. As their inspection and analysis processes improve.

  • The CMP monitoring system was newly developed by the aid of friction force measurement, resulting from installation of piezoelectric quartz sensor on R&D polisher. The correlation between friction and CMP results was investigated in terms of tribological aspects by using the monitoring system. Various friction signals were monitored and analyzed by the change of experimental conditions such as pressure, velocity, pad and slurry. First of all, the lubrication regimes were classified with Sommerfeld Number through measuring coefficient of friction in ILD CMP. And then, the removal mechanism of abrasives could be understood through the correlation with removal rate and coefficient of friction. Especially, the amount of material removal per unit sliding distance is directly proportional to the friction force. The uniformity of CMP performances was also deteriorated as coefficient of friction increased.
