Information systems development entails planning, analysis, design and construction phases. The analysis phase identifying user requirements is the most important of these phases. Since unidentified defects in the early phase causes increased work and costs as development proceeds, the quality of analysis results affects the quality of the resultant system. Major tasks in the analysis phase are data modeling and process modeling. Research on building a knowledge-based system for data modeling have been conducted much, however, not sufficiently for process modeling. As a system environment with high user interaction increases, research on process modeling methods and knowledge- based systems considering such environment are required. In this research, a process modeling framework for information systems with high user interaction is suggested and a knowledge-based system for supporting the suggested framework is implemented. A proposed model consists of the following tasks: event analysis, process analysis, and event/process interaction analysis. Event analysis identifies business events and their responses. Process analysis break down the processes of an enterprise into progressively increasing details. Decomposition begins at the function level and ends when the elementary process level is reached. Event/process interaction analysis verifies the results of process analysis and event analysis. A knowledge-based system for supporting a proposed process modeling framework is implemented in a web-based environment.
Objective: The aim of this study is to configure a taxonomy of uninterpretable Interactions. Background: Following the spread of the Internet, smart devices have increasingly covered our lives. Human beings are now living in an era of tremendous information explosion. We live with numerous interactive targets nowadays, and there are many ways to interact with these targets. Being an interaction designer in this era, we need to clearly understand the existing methods of the interaction. While Bill Moggridge posed interaction design as a new discipline in 1984, it still has not formed a structured framework. Method: This study categorizes uninterpretable interactions through case studies, and configures the taxonomy of uninterpretable interactions based on Object-Oriented View of interaction. To explore the use value and impact of the taxonomy of uninterpretable interactions, this study conducted an experiment and analyzed related results. Results: The framework gives a positive impact on the design process, and interaction designers can clarify and broaden the scope of their ideas. Conclusion: A study on the Taxonomy of Uninterpretable Interactions was the part that did not gain a lot of attention in the existing interaction process. The study made the part more clear. And the study also helps interaction designers expand their roles in the development process of products or services. Application: The taxonomy framework of uninterpretable interactions might help interaction designers design uninterpretable interactions more clearly, and it can also be applied to design interpretable interactions.
Molecular dynamics study of thermal NIL (Nano Imprint Lithography) process is performed to examine stamp-resist interactions. A layered structure consists of Ni stamp, poly-(methylmethacrylate) thin film resist and Si substrate was constructed for isothermal ensemble simulations. Imposing confined periodicity to the layered unit-cell, sequential movement of stamp followed by NVT simulation was implemented in accordance with the real NIL process. Both vdW and electrostatic potentials were considered in all non-bond interactions and resultant interaction energy between stamp and PMMA resist was monitored during stamping and releasing procedures. As a result, the stamp-resist interaction energy shows repulsive and adhesive characteristics in indentation and release respectively and irregular atomic concentration near the patterned layer were observed. Also, the spring back and rearrangement of PMMA molecules were analyzed in releasing process.
The purpose of this study wasto understand Theraplay interaction and to find out how Theraplay works to bring about change in withdrawn children. In exploring the meaning of Theraplay interaction, I used a phenomenology, which looked reflectively into a child's experience. Examining the situation, I found that the child had changed by "touch" with a therapist, which had been done throughout thewhole process of therapy. The child had changed from "child with horny body" to "playful child." Furthermore, I realized the four meanings (of what?) through research: "encounter", "reconstruction", "responsibility", and "immersion." Those four meaningscould have made the subject of interaction go beyond and look for its own existence. In addition, those four meanings melt together in the phenomena of interaction. There were always those four meanings throughout Theraplay interaction. This study has presented different consequences, compared to Theraplay research that is based on effectiveness, and examined the process of change that includes position tendency.
We have frequently encountered the rapid changes that prevalent opinion of the social community is toppled by a new and opposite opinion against the pre-exiting one. To understand this interesting process, mean-field model with infinite-interaction range has been mostly considered in previous studies S. A. Marvel et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 118702 (2012). However, the mean-field interaction range is lack of reality in the sense that any individual cannot interact with all of the others in the community. Based on it, in the present work, we consider a simple model of opinion consensus so-called basic model on the low-dimensional lattices (d = 1, 2) with finite interaction range. The model consists of four types of subpopulations with different opinions: A, B, AB, and the zealot of A denoted by $A_c$, following the basic model shown in the work by S. A. Marvel et al.. Comparing with their work, we consider the finite range of the interaction, and particularly reconstruct the lattice structure by adding new links when the two individuals have the distance < ${\sigma}$. We explore how the interaction range ${\sigma}$ affects the opinion consensus process on the reconstructed lattice structure. We find that the critical fraction of population for $A_c$ required for the opinion consensus on A shows different behaviors in the small and large interaction ranges. Especially, the critical fraction for $A_c$ increases with the size of ${\sigma}$ in the region of small interaction range, which is counter-intuitive: When the interaction range is increased, not only the number of nodes affected by $A_c$ but also that affected by B grows, which is believed to cause the increasing behavior of the critical fraction for $A_c$. We also present the difference of dynamic process to the opinion consensus between the regions of small and large interaction ranges.
A time-dependent folding process was used to determine whether or not protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) plays an important role in the maturation of nascent lactoferrin polypeptides. Interaction between lactoferrin and PDI was analyzed according to the co-immunoprecipitation of the two proteins. The results indicate that lactoferrin folding requires a significant interaction with PDI and its binding is relatively brief compared to other nascent polypeptides. The amount of lactoferrin interacting with PDI increases up to half a minute and sharply decreases beyond this time point. During the refolding process that follows reduction by DTT, lactoferrin polypeptides heavily interact with PDI and the interaction period was extended compared to the normal folding process. In terms of the temperature effect on PDI-lactoferrin interaction, PDI binds to lactoferrin polypeptides longer at a lower temperature (here, $25^{\circ}C$) than $37^{\circ}C$. The lactoferrin-PDI interaction was also studied in vitro. According to the in vitro experiment data, PDI was still functional in cell lysates assisting lactoferrin folding into the mature form. PDI interacts with lactoferrin polypeptides for an extended period during the folding in vitro. During the refolding process in vitro, intermolecular aggregates and refolding oligomers matured into a functional form after PDI binds to the lactoferrin. These results suggest that PDI provides a prolonged chaperoning activity in the refolding processes and that there appears to be a greater requirement for PDI chaperone activity in the refolding of lactoferrin polypeptides.
These days we come across many wicked problems whose solutions are beyond individuals intellectual ability. These problems can be resolved through collaborative group interaction. We developed an internet-based asynchronous group interaction support system, after looking into the collaborative problem solving process and the IBIS (Issue-Based Information System) argumentation model. It has the following characteristics ; 1) it is developed based on the modified IBIS model which is a model for group interaction to resolve wicked problems ; 2) it supports both processes of seeking and comparing solutions, while most similar systems do not have a feature to support the latter process ; 3) different structures can be defined dynamically according to the purpose of group interaction, so that it could be used for collaborative problem solving in a specific domain. To show the usability of the system, we carried out an experiment, whose result is shown at the end.
An entity-based integrated design model can be used to organize and represent information and activities involved in design. The model involves a number of product and process entities. Product entities describe design information, and process entities describe design activities. The relationships among entities Includes organizational, interaction, and sequence relationships. The paper focuses interaction relationships among design information. The interaction relationships can be represented as constraints. Types of constraints includes demand constraints, dependency constraints, and interaction constraints. The paper describes dependency and Interaction constraints. The concepts of representing and processing dependency and interaction constraints in an entity-based integrated design model are presented.
