  • Recently, surface texturing by atmospheric laser processing has been received lots of attention to improve the tribological performance of various surfaces and this laser texturing of surfaces could be considered in a large extent to improve tribological performance of PVD coated surface. Surface texturing could be performed by various manufacturing techniques such as indentation with hard materials, ion etching, abrasive jet machining, lithography, and Laser Surface Texturing (LST). Out of all these techniques, however it is generally accepted that laser surface texturing (LST) by atmospheric laser processing offers the most promising process as LST is very fast, environmentally-friendly, easy to control the shape and size of the microdimples. In this work various preliminary experimental results from the laser texturing on the PVD-coated steel substrate will be presented. Our results indicated that laser texturing definitely affect the tribological performance of the surfaces and the size as well as pattern type of laser texturing are one of the key factors. From the wear tests against an alumina counterpart ball at room temperature under oil-lubricated condition, laser surface texturing on the CrZrSiN films reduced the friction coefficients by approximately more than 5 times in the case of narrow patterned surfaces.

  • With rapid advances in meat science in recent decades, changes in meat quality during the pre-slaughter phase of muscle growth and the post-slaughter process from muscle to meat have been investigated. Commonly used techniques have evolved from early physicochemical indicators such as meat color, tenderness, water holding capacity, flavor, and pH to various omic tools such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to explore fundamental molecular mechanisms and screen biomarkers related to meat quality and taste characteristics. This review highlights the application of omics and integrated multi-omics in meat quality and taste characteristics studies. It also discusses challenges and future perspectives of multi-omics technology to improve meat quality and taste. Consequently, multi-omics techniques can elucidate the molecular mechanisms responsible for changes of meat quality at transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome levels. In addition, the application of multi-omics technology has great potential for exploring and identifying biomarkers for meat quality and quality control that can make it easier to optimize production processes in the meat industry.

  • CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) car-borne equipment, a part of the communication based train control system, mainly consists of automatic train protection(ATP) functions, automatic train operation(ATO) functions as well as the interface functions with other equipment including CBTC wayside equipment and train control management system etc. The CBTC car-borne software implementing ATP/ATO functions is a real-time embedded software requiring a high level of safety and reliability. To satisfy the requirements of the CBTC car-borne software, the model-based design techniques are applied with SCADE(Safety-Critical Application Development Environment) to the development of the CBTC car-borne software. In this paper, we illustrate the process modeling the car-borne ATP/ATO functions satisfying system requirement specification with system requirement management, modeling and document generation tools etc. supported by SCADE. In addition, the developed models corresponding to the ATP/ATO functions are applied to the train with CBTC car-borne equipment through its corresponding EN-50128 standards-compliant C code generated by the code generator. It is shown from the test result that the ATP/ATO models developed by SCADE work well while the trains are running in driverless operation mode.

  • In this paper, the Flow Control Fin(FCF) optimization has been carried out using computational fluid dynamics(CFD) techniques. This study focused on evaluation for the performance of the FCF attached in the stern part of the ship. The main advantage of FCF is to enhance the resistance performance through the lift generation with a forward force component on the foil section, and the propulsive performance by the uniformity of velocity distribution on the propeller plane. This study intended to evaluate these functions and to find optimized FCF form for minimizing viscous resistance and equalizing wake distribution. Four parameters of FCF are used in the study, which were angle and position of FCF, longitudinal location, transverse location, and span length in the optimization process. KRISO 300K VLCC2(KVLCC2) was chosen for an example ship to demonstrate FCF for optimization. The optimization procedure utilized genetic algorithms (GAs), a gradient-based optimizer for the refinement of the solution, and Non-dominated Sorting GA-II(NSGA-II) for Multiobjective Optimization. The results showed that the optimized FCF could enhance the uniformity of wake distribution at the expense of viscous resistance.

  • In this paper, we introduce a way to generate and control the serial music using stochastical tools. A serialism, which is one of composition techniques in the 20th century modern music, is composed using uniformly distributed notes or durations. To conserve this property, we design the optimization process to generate the random numbers which can be used to compose the serial music. The optimization are designed using chi-square test and auto-correlation test. User can also apply the additional constraint to the objective function for controlling the serial music. Using the our method, we can compose and control the traditional serial music automatically.

  • The new design methodology of a hybrid fuzzy controller by means of the genetic algorithms is presented. In fuzzy controller which has been widely applied and used. in order to construct the best fuzzy rules that include adjustment of fuzzy sets, a highly skilled techniques using trial and error are required. To deal with such a problem, first, a hybrid fuzzy controller(HFC) related to the optimal estimation of control parameters is proposed. The HFC combined a PID controller with a fuzzy controller concurrently produces the better output performance than any other controller from each control output in steady state and transient state. Second, a auto-tuning algorithms is presented to automatically improve the performance of hybrid fuzzy controller, utilizing the simplified reasoning method and genetic algorithms. In addition, to obtain scaling factors and PID Parameters of HFC using GA, three kinds of estimation modes such as basic, contraction, and expansion mode are effectively utilized. The HFCs are applied to the first-order second-order process with time-delay and DC motor Computer simulations are conducted at step input and the performances of systems are evaluated and also discussed from performance indices.

  • This paper describes three modules for development of the Space Frame Integrated Design System(SFIDS). The Control Module is implemented to control the developed system. The Model Generation Module based on PATRAN user interface enables users to generate a complicated finite element model for space frame structures. The Optimum Design Module base on a branch of combinatorial optimization techniques which can realize the optimization of a structure having a large number of members designs optimum members of a space frame after evaluating analysis results. The Control Module and the Model Generation Module Is implemented by PATRAN Command Language(PCL) while C++ language is used in the Optimum Design Module. The core of the system is PATRAN database, in which the Model Generation Module creates information of a finite element model. Then, PATRAN creates Input files needed for the analysis program from the information of the finite element model in the database, and in turn, imports output results of analysis program to the database. Finally, the Optimum Design Module processes member grouping of a space frame based on the output results, and performs optimal member selection of a space frame. This process is repeated until the desired optimum structural members are obtained.

  • For the safty driving of an automobile which is become individual requisites, a new Neural Network algorithm which recognized the load vehicles in real time is proposed. The proposed neural network technique is the real time computation method through the inter-node diffusion. In the network, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of vehicles, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed 1-D LIPN hardware has been composed and various experiments with static and dynamic signals have been implmented.

  • Purpose: This research is to find a solution for educational work on high blood pressure control in public health centers by analyzing their current status. Method: It analyzed data from 133 public health centers that had been doing educational work on high blood pressure, through a questionnaire. Also, it developed recommendations by converging opinions from an expert group made of 25 people with nominal group technique. Result: The educational methods of public health centers did not make any approach to get to the goal of the work. The mass media education and campaign activities for the general public had just temporary and passive propensities. In education for patients, it did not use appropriate methods to present management techniques for diagnosis process of patients, medication management, self monitoring BP, and risk factors. Pocket book for monitoring high blood pressure was not focused on self-recording for self-management. The expert group recommended that educational materials for adults should be developed focusing on treatments and observance of risk factors through daily living, and those for children should be focused on basic understanding about diseases, and life style. Conclusion: Presenting direction and strategy of fundamental education work is needed for public health centers by giving them standard educational guidelines of managing high blood pressure nationally, and it is desirable that fundamental frameworks of educational materials should be developed and distributed by professional groups nationally.
