  • In recent years, hydrologists have been interested in the radial spectrum and its estimation in two dimensional storm field to construct simulation model of the rainfall. This paper deals with the problem of transformation from the spectrum or isotropic covariance function to two dimensional random field. The extended turning band method for the generation of random field is applied to the problem using the line generation method of one dimensional stochastic process by G.Matheron. Examples of this generation is chosen in the random components of the multidimensional rainfall model suggested by Bras and are given with a comparison between theoretical and sample statistics. In this numerical experiments it is observed that first and second order statistics can be conserved. Also the example of moving storm simulation through Bras model is presented with the appropriate parameters and sample size.

  • This paper proposes a modeling and controller design method of Flywheel Energy Storage System(FESS) for solving the unstable operation problem in hybrid generation system with wind turbine and diesel generator applied in island area. FESS is considered as a permanent magnetic synchronous machine connected to flywheel because of its efficiency. The controller of FESS is composed of AC/DC/AC back-to-back converter. The AC/DC converter is designed to charge/discharge according to the frequency variation and the DC/AC converter to operate to keep the DC bus voltage constant. The proposed modeling and controller design method of FESS was applied to hybrid generation system with wind turbine and diesel generator. The unstable operation problem owing to wind variations was solved through simulation results.

  • So far, most of research on automated test data generation(ATDG) deals with programs without pointers. Recently, few works hove been done on ATDG in the presence of pointers, but they ore path-oriented techniques which require the specification of on entire program path to be tested or a program to be executed. This paper presents a new technique for generating test data even without specifying a program path completely. The presented technique is a static technique which transforms the test data generation problem into a SAT(SATisfiability) problem and makes advantage of SAT solvers for ATDG. For the ends, we transform a program under test into Alloy which is the first-order relational logic and then produce test data via Alloy analyzer.

  • This paper presents an approach to solve the long-term generation expansion planning problem of the restructured electricity industry using an agent-based environment. The proposed model simulates the generation investment decisions taken by a particular agent (i.e. a generating company) in a market environment taking into account its competitors’ strategic investment. The investment decision of a particular company is modeled taking into account that such company has imperfect foresight on the future system development hence electricity prices. The delay in the construction of new plants is also explicitly modeled, in order to compute accurately the yearly revenues of each agent. On top of a conventional energy market, several capacity incentive mechanisms including capacity payment and capacity market are simulated, so as to assess their impact on the investment promotion for generation expansion. Results provide insight on the investment cycles as well as dynamic system behavior of long-term generation expansion planning in a competitive electricity industry.

  • The logical analysis of data(LAD) is an effective Boolean-logic based data mining tool. A critical step in analyzing data by LAD is the pattern generation stage where useful knowledge and hidden structural information in data is discovered in the form of patterns. A conventional method for pattern generation in LAD is based on term enumeration that renders the generation of higher degree patterns practically impossible. In this paper, we present a new optimization-based pattern generation methodology and propose two mathematical programming medels, a mixed 0-1 integer and linear programming(MILP) formulation and a well-studied set covering problem(SCP) formulation for the generation of optimal and heuristic patterns, respectively. With benchmark datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our models by automatically generating with much ease patterns of high complexity that cannot be generated with the conventional approach.

  • This paper tackles the problem of generating shared secret keys based on the physical characteristics of the wireless channel. We propose intelligent quantization mechanisms for key generation, achieving high secret bits generation rate. Moreover, some practical issues affecting the performance of the key generation mechanism are deeply investigated. Mainly, we investigate the effects of delay and mobility on the performance and we enhance the key generation mechanism accordingly. As a result, this paper presents a framework towards robust key generation from multipath wireless channels.

  • In this study, we propose a solution procedure to solve travelling salesman problem(TSP) with special cost function, route dependent travelling salesman problem(RDTSP). First, we develop an integer programming model to describe the problem. In the model, a variable means a possible route. And, the number of variables in this model are extremely large. So, we develop a LP relaxation problem of the IP model and solve the relaxation problem by a column generation technique. The relaxation problem does not guarantee the optimal solution. If we get an integer solution in the ralaxation problem, then the solution is an optimal one. But, if not, we cannot get an optimal solution. So, we approach a branch and price technique. The overall solution procedure can be applied a printed circuit board(PCB) assembly process.

  • Korean government established the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2015. After revising in 2019, the government updated an enhanced target at the end of last year. When the NDC is addressed, the emission targets of each sector, such as power generation, industry, and buildings, are also set. This paper analyzes the emission target of each sector by applying a claims problem or bankruptcy problem developed from cooperative game theory. The five allocation rules from a claims problem are introduced and the properties of each rule are considered axiomatically. This study applies the five rules on allocating carbon emission by sector under the NDC target and compares the results with the announced government target. For the power generation sector, the government target is set lower than the emissions allocated by the five rules. On the other hand, the government target for the industry sector is higher than the results of the five rules. In other sectors, the government's targets are similar to the results of the rule that allocates emissions in proportion to each claim.

  • This paper proposes Swap algorithm for solving Dynamic Economic Dispatch (DED) problem. The proposed algorithm initially balances total load demand $P_d$ with total generation ${\Sigma}P_i$ by deactivating a generator with the highest unit generation cost $C_i^{max}/P_i^{max}$. It then swaps generation level $P_i=P_i{\pm}{\Delta}$, (${\Delta}$=1.0, 0.1, 0.01, 0.001) for $P_i=P_i-{\Delta}$, $P_j=P_j+{\Delta}$ provided that $_{max}[F(P_i)-F(P_i-{\Delta})]$ > $_{min}[F(P_j+{\Delta})-F(P_j)]$, $i{\neq}j$. This new algorithm is applied and tested to the experimental data of Dynamic Economic Dispatch problem, demonstrating a considerable reduction in the prevalent heuristic algorithm's optimal generation cost and in the maximization of economic profit.
