Problem-Based Learning is focused, experiential learning organized around the investigation and resolution of messy, real-world problem. It is both a curriculum organizer and instructional strategy, two complementary processes. The PBL model developed in this study was composed the two components of Problem Design(curriculum organizer) and Problem Implementation(instructional strategy). The basic process of Problem Implementation Model were composed the 8 steps ; 1) the identification of problem, 2) the specification of problem, 3) the exploration and generation for solution, 4) the selecting of best idea, 5) the specific planning of best idea, 6) the implementation and realization, 7) the evaluation, 8) the applying and reflection.

As the demand for distance education increases, it is necessary to present a problem solving path through a learning tracking algorithm in order to support the efficient learning of learners. In this paper, we proposed a problem solving path of various difficulty levels in various subjects by supplementing the existing learning tracking algorithm. Through the data set obtained through the path for solving the learner's problem, the path through the prim's minimum Spanning tree was secured, and the optimal problem solving path through the recursive neural network was suggested through the path data set. As a result of the performance evaluation of the contents proposed in this paper, it was confirmed that more than 52% of the test subjects included the problem solving path suggested in the problem solving process, and the problem solving time was also improved by more than 45%.
In training a classification model using machine learning, the acquisition of training data is a very important stage, because the amount and quality of the training data greatly influence the model performance. However, when the cost of obtaining data is so high that it is difficult to build ideal training data, the number of samples for each class may be acquired very differently, and a serious data-imbalance problem can occur. If such a problem occurs in the training data, all classes are not trained equally, and classes containing relatively few data will have significantly lower recall values. Additionally, the reliability of evaluation indices such as accuracy and precision will be reduced. Therefore, this study sought to overcome the problem of data imbalance in two stages. First, we introduced weighted accuracy and weighted precision as new evaluation indices that can take into account a data-imbalance ratio by modifying conventional measures of accuracy and precision. Next, oversampling was performed to balance weighted precision and recall among classes. We verified the algorithm by applying it to the problem of facies classification. As a result, the imbalance between majority and minority classes was greatly mitigated, and the boundaries between classes could be more clearly identified.

Flexible assembly line (FAL) is a production system that assembles various parts in unidirectional flow line with many constraints and manufacturing flexibilities. In this research we deal with a FAL balancing problem with the objective of minimizing the maximum workload allocated to the stations. However, almost all the existing researches do not appropriately consider various constraints due to the problem complexity. Therefore, this thesis addresses a balancing problem of FAL with many constraints and manufacturing flexibilities, unlike the previous researches. To solve this problem we use a genetic algorithm (GA). To apply GA to FAL, we suggest a genetic representation suitable for FAL balancing and devise evaluation method for individual's fitness and genetic operators specific to the problem, including efficient repair method for preserving solution feasibility. The experimental results are reported.
In this study, we formulate production costing problem with environmental and operational constraints into an optimization problem of LP form. In the process of formulation, auxiliary constraints on which reflect unit loading order are constructed to reduce the size of optimization problem by economic operation rules. As a solution of the optimization problem in LP form, we use Karmarkar's method which performs much faster than simplex method in solving large scale LP problem. The proposed production costing algorithm is applied to IEEE Reliability Test System, and performs production simulation under environmental and operational constraints. Test and computer results are given to show the accuracy and usefulness of the proposed algorithm in the field of power system planning.
Students experience many problem solving activities in school mathematics. These activities have focused on finding the solution whose existence was known, and then again conjecture about existence of solution or posing of problems has been neglected. It needs to put more emphasis on conjecture and problem posing activities in school mathematics. To do this, a model and examples of designing mathematical activities centered on conjecture and problem posing are needed. In this article, we introduce some examples of designing such activities (from the pythagorean theorem, the determination condition of triangle, and existing solved-problems in textbook) and examine suggestions for mathematics education. Our examples can be used as instructional materials for mathematically able students at middle school.
This research implemented grammatical rules for relationship extraction from class diagram candidate. The problem statement is generated by our algorithm to yield class diagram and candidate relationship candidates. The relationships of class diagrams are extracted automatically from the problem statement by using Natural Language Processing (NLP). The extraction used the grammatical rules that obtained from various sources and translated into our algorithm. The performance evaluation of the extraction algorithm used ATM problem statements. The application captures the problem statement and draws automatically the relations of class diagrams using Forced-Directionality Graph algorithm. The performance evaluations show refining methods for class diagram and relationships extraction improve recall score.

In the current school curriculum, an alternative assessment method which focuses more on the problem solving process rather than the final solution is being investigated. The goal is to evaluate students' understanding of the subject. A descriptive evaluation is being suggested as a way of examining the thought process of the students by a structured analysis of the problem solving process. But currently, there are not enough descriptive problems available for teachers to effectively carry out the alternative assessment method in the elementary school mathematics curriculum. In this research, we surveyed 197 elementary school teachers in Seoul to determine the status of descriptive evaluation in elementary school mathematics and to understand the teachers perception about the new assessment method. The goal of the survey was to find an effective implication of the new assessment method in elementary mathematics classes. The research showed that the elementary teachers use this assessment method about 4 to 7 times per month in their classes. They give descriptive problem test anytime they think it is appropriate during the Instruction of the topic. More than 90% of the teachers were using this assessment method to improve students' creativity and mathematical thinking. The teachers in the survey also commented that the teachers' administrative responsibility should be reduced and that the school environment in general should be improved for the new assessment method to be successful. Finally the study also showed that development of more descriptive problems in each grade level is needed to progress the new assessment method.
This study sought to explore the enhancement of the introduction of teaching and learning methods for Problem Based Learning (PBL) and the evaluation factors to evaluate them effectively through an understanding lecture in Cultural Content Planning. It was intended to incorporate a practical zero-volume education methodology of problem-oriented learning and sufficient leading learning to reflect storytelling in the entire process of completing a cultural content with culture, cultural content, and content planning. To this end, the role of teaching methods should be faithful to ensure that teamwork and cooperation can be done organically according to the educational field, practice and situation. Students who take classes were asked to meet demand, reflect it through surveys, apply real-world problems, and acquire the entire course. Learners had to cooperate with each other until planning cultural content and completing the results through classes, and they evaluated themselves and colleagues in teamwork until the last result was completed from creative ideas. The results were shared together and the students were able to investigate the necessary PBL evaluation factors for themselves, and the prior research and survey on the method of PBL evaluation was conducted to derive the factors of understanding of cultural content planning. The derived assessment elements were able to identify priorities between the assessment elements using basic statistics, word cloud analysis, and AHP analysis. The components of the assessment derived were communication skills, basic knowledge, reasoning process, expertise, and evaluation techniques. Through this article, I was able to lead the understanding of cultural content planning to problem-oriented learning classes and encourage students to be familiar and smooth.
Dweller's safety is one of the most important factors for the evaluation of building performance. The process of conventional safety design which is normally performed by the codes and designer's experiences is not enough to check the whole possibilities of unexpected accidents in the built environment. It means that the dwellers might be always exposed by the dangerous situation which should have been removed in the architectural design process. In order to solve this problem, this study intends to introduce a rule-based performance evaluation technology based on BIM(Building Information Modeling). The proposed technology focuses on the real time evaluation of dweller's safety in the ordinary life in the designed building alternatives and uses a commercial BIM tool as a design and evaluation platform.
