  • Highly dispersive S-boxes are desirable in cryptosystems as nonlinear confusion sublayers for resisting modern attacks. For a near optimal cryptosystem resistant to modern cryptanalysis, a highly nonlinear and low differential probability (DP) value is required. We propose a method based on a piecewise linear chaotic map (PWLCM) with optimization conditions. Thus, the linear propagation of information in a cryptosystem appearing as a high DP during differential cryptanalysis of an S-box is minimized. While mapping from the chaotic trajectory to integer domain, a randomness test is performed that justifies the nonlinear behavior of the highly dispersive and nonlinear chaotic S-box. The proposed scheme is vetted using well-established cryptographic performance criteria. The proposed S-box meets the cryptographic performance criteria and further minimizes the differential propagation justified by the low DP value. The suitability of the proposed S-box is also tested using an image encryption algorithm. Results show that the proposed S-box as a confusion component entails a high level of security and improves resistance against all known attacks.

  • In this paper, we have designed the Anti-Aircraft Artillery(AAA) model for the surface-to-air virtual engagement. The AAA model for the virtual combat simulation needs to detect the present target and estimate the target flight trajectory to find the aiming point. To find collision point of projectile fired from the artillery with the moving air target, we have presented the estimating technique for artillery aiming point. And we have analyzed the target probability of kill using Calton Hit function. Anti-air threat envelops are presented when the target velocity, position and the arrangement of four AAA are varying. Then we have compared the analyzed result using developed model with AEM model of MSA program.

  • We have calculated the probability of the OH formation and energy deposit of the reaction exothermicity in the newly formed OH, particularly in its vibrational motion, in the gas-surface reaction O(g) + H(ad)/Si → OH(g) + Si on the basis of the collision-induced Eley-Rideal mechanism. The reaction probability of the OH formation increases linearly with initial excitation of the HSi vibration. The translational and vibrational motions share most of the energy when the H-Si vibration is initially in the ground state. But, when the initial excitation increases, the vibrational energy of OH rises accordingly, while the energies shared by other motions vary only slightly. The product vibrational excitation is significant and the population distribution is inverted. Flow of energy between the reaction zone and the solid has been incorporated in trajectory calculations. The amount of energy propagated into the solid is only a few percent of the available energy released in the OH formation.

  • Energy flow and C-$H_{methyl}$ and C-$H_{ring}$ bond dissociations in vibrationally excited toluene in the collision with $N_2$ and $O_2$ have been studied by use of classical trajectory procedures. The energy lost by the vibrationally excited toluene upon collision is not large and it increases slowly with increasing total vibrational energy content between 5,000 and 45,000 $cm^{-1}$. Intermolecular energy transfer occurs via both of V-T and V-V transfers. Both of V-T and V-V transfers increase as the total vibrational energy of toluene increases. When the total energy content $E_T$ of toluene is sufficiently high, either C-H bond can dissociate. The C-$H_{methyl}$ dissociation probability is higher than the C-$H_{ring}$ dissociation probability, and that in the collision with $N_2$ is larger than with $O_2$.

  • The collision-induced reaction of gas-phase atomic hydrogen with hydrogen atoms chemisorbed on a silicon (001)-(2×1) surface is studied by use of the classical trajectory approach. The model is based on reaction zone atoms interacting with a finite number of primary system silicon atoms, which then are coupled to the heat bath, i.e., the bulk solid phase. The potential energy of the Hads‥Hgas interaction is the primary driver of the reaction, and in all reactive collisions, there is an efficient flow of energy from this interaction to the Hads-Si bond. All reactive events occur on a subpicosecond scale, following the Eley-Rideal mechanism. These events occur in a localized region around the adatom site on the surface. The reaction probability shows the maximum near 700K as the gas temperature increases, but it is nearly independent of the surface temperature up to 700 K. Over the surface temperature range of 0-700 K and gas temperature range of 300 to 2500 K, the reaction probability lies at about 0.1. The reaction energy available for the product states is small, and most of this energy is carried away by the desorbing H2 in its translational and vibrational motions. The Langevin equation is used to consider energy exchange between the reaction zone and the bulk solid phase.

  • An SLBM (submarine-launched ballistic missile) seriously threatens the national security due to its stealthiness that makes it difficult to detect in advance. We consider a destroyer deployment optimization problem for effectively detecting an SLBM. An optimization model is based on the two-person zero-sum game in which an adversary determines the firing and arriving places with an appropriate trajectory that provides a low detection probability, and we establish a destroyer deployment plan that guarantees the possibly highest detection probability. The proposed two-person zero-sum game model can be solved with the corresponding linear programming model, and we perform computational studies with a randomly generated area and scenario and show the optimal mixed strategies for both the players in the game.

  • North Korea has various ballistic missiles from short range to long range such as inter continental ballistic missiles. Short range ballistic missiles such as SCUD series are threatening to Korea peninsula. Therefore Korea is constructing various missile defense systems to protect country. Parameters influencing the received power from the target to the radar are transmitting power, antenna gain, carrier frequency, RCS(Radar Cross Section) of target and distance from radar to target. Especially, RCS and distance from target are not radar performance defined parameters but external parameters. Therefore radar deployment position that large RCS can be observed and target to radar distance should be considered in parallel to improve target detection probability. In this paper, RCS pattern of SCUD-B ballistic missile is calculated, received power is analyzed based on radar deployment position during ballistic missile trajectory and methode for optimum radar deployment position to improve target detection probability is suggested.

  • Defense M&S(Modeling & Simulation) requires weapon effectiveness index which indicates Ph(Probability of hit) and Pk(Probability of kill) values on various impact and environmental conditions. The index is usually produced by JMEM(Joint Munition Effectiveness Manual) development process, which calculates Pk based on the impact condition and circular error probable. This approach requires experts to manually adjust the index to consider the environmental factors such as terrain, atmosphere, and obstacles. To reduce expert's involvement, this paper proposes a meta-model based method to produce weapon effectiveness index. The method considers the effects of environmental factors during calculating a munition's trajectory by utilizing high-resolution weapon system models. Based on the result of Monte-Carlo simulation, logistic regression model and Gaussian Process Regression(GPR) model is respectively developed to predict Ph and Pk values of unobserved conditions. The suggested method will help M&S users to produce weapon effectiveness index more efficiently.

  • Various location tracking sensors; such as GPS, INS, radar, and optical equipment; are used for tracking moving targets. In order to effectively track moving targets, it is necessary to develop an effective fusion method for these heterogeneous devices. There have been studies in which the estimated values of each sensors were regarded as different models and fused together, considering the different error characteristics of the sensors for the improvement of tracking performance using heterogeneous multi-sensor. However, the rate of errors for the estimated values of other sensors has increased, in that there has been a sharp increase in sensor errors and the attempts to change the estimated sensor values for the Sensor Probability could not be applied in real time. In this study, the Sensor Probability is obtained by comparing the RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) for the difference between the updated and measured values of the Kalman filter for each sensor. The process of substituting the new combined values for the Kalman filter input values for each sensor is excluded. There are improvements in both the real-time application of estimated sensor values, and the tracking performance for the areas in which the sensor performance has rapidly decreased. The proposed algorithm adds the error characteristic of each sensor as a conditional probability value, and ensures greater accuracy by performing the track fusion with the sensors with the most reliable performance. The trajectory of a UAV is generated in an experiment and a performance analysis is conducted with other fusion algorithms.

  • In this paper, a new 'presumed' Probability Density Function (PDF) approach coupled with a Lagrangian tracking method is proposed for turbulent combustion modeling. The test and the investigation of the model are conducted by comparing the model results with DNS data for a premixed flame subjected in a decaying turbulent field. The newly constructed PDF, which incorporates the instantaneous chemical reaction term, demonstrates consistent improvement over conventional assumed PDF models. It has been found that the time evolution of the mean scalar, the variance and the mean reaction rate are strongly influenced by a parameter deduced by a Lagrangian equation which takes into account explicitly the local reaction rate. Tests have been performed for a moderate Damkohler number, and it is expected the model may cover a broader range of Damkohler number. The comparison with the DNS data demonstrates that the proposed model may be promising and affordable for implementation in a moment-equation solver.
