  • With the development of sensor, wireless mobile communication, embedded system and cloud computing, the technologies of Internet of Things have been widely used in real word. Connecting wireless sensor networks with traditional communication networks or Internet, IoT gateway plays an important role in IoT applications. It facilitates the integration of wireless sensor networks and mobile communication networks or Internet. The IoT gateway is a key component in IoT application systems. But It has lot of security issues. We analyzed the issues of security and privacy.

  • Because a sensor node must operate on a tiny battery, the goal to eliminate energy inefficiencies leads the current researchers excavating for new techniques to advocate. As sensor networks edge closer towards wide spread deployment, security issues become a central concern. So far much research has focused on making sensor networks feasible and useful, and has not concentrated much on security issues especially computationally inexpensive techniques. In this paper we introduce a simple scheme relying on one-way hash-functions that greatly enhances location privacy by changing traceable identifiers on every read getting by with only a single, unreliable message exchange. Thereby the scheme is safe from many threats like eavesdropping, message interception, spoofing, and replay attacks.

Private Blockchain-Based Secure Access Control for Smart Home Systems

  • Smart home systems provide a safe, comfortable, and convenient living environment for users, whereby users enjoy featured home services supported by the data collected and generated by smart devices in smart home systems. However, existing smart devices lack sufficient protection in terms of data security and privacy, and challenging security and privacy issues inevitably emerge when using these data. This article aims to address these challenging issues by proposing a private blockchain-based access control (PBAC) scheme. PBAC involves employing a private blockchain to provide an unforgeable and auditable foundation for smart home systems, that can thwart illegal data access, and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of access records. A detailed security analysis shows that PBAC could preserve data security against various attacks. In addition, we conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation to demonstrate that PBAC is feasible and efficient.

스마트폰 위치기반 어플리케이션의 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인: 프라이버시 계산 모형의 적용 (Factors Influencing the Adoption of Location-Based Smartphone Applications: An Application of the Privacy Calculus Model)

  • Smartphone and its applications (i.e. apps) are increasingly penetrating consumer markets. According to a recent report from Korea Communications Commission, nearly 50% of mobile subscribers in South Korea are smartphone users that accounts for over 25 million people. In particular, the importance of smartphone has risen as a geospatially-aware device that provides various location-based services (LBS) equipped with GPS capability. The popular LBS include map and navigation, traffic and transportation updates, shopping and coupon services, and location-sensitive social network services. Overall, the emerging location-based smartphone apps (LBA) offer significant value by providing greater connectivity, personalization, and information and entertainment in a location-specific context. Conversely, the rapid growth of LBA and their benefits have been accompanied by concerns over the collection and dissemination of individual users' personal information through ongoing tracking of their location, identity, preferences, and social behaviors. The majority of LBA users tend to agree and consent to the LBA provider's terms and privacy policy on use of location data to get the immediate services. This tendency further increases the potential risks of unprotected exposure of personal information and serious invasion and breaches of individual privacy. To address the complex issues surrounding LBA particularly from the user's behavioral perspective, this study applied the privacy calculus model (PCM) to explore the factors that influence the adoption of LBA. According to PCM, consumers are engaged in a dynamic adjustment process in which privacy risks are weighted against benefits of information disclosure. Consistent with the principal notion of PCM, we investigated how individual users make a risk-benefit assessment under which personalized service and locatability act as benefit-side factors and information privacy risks act as a risk-side factor accompanying LBA adoption. In addition, we consider the moderating role of trust on the service providers in the prohibiting effects of privacy risks on user intention to adopt LBA. Further we include perceived ease of use and usefulness as additional constructs to examine whether the technology acceptance model (TAM) can be applied in the context of LBA adoption. The research model with ten (10) hypotheses was tested using data gathered from 98 respondents through a quasi-experimental survey method. During the survey, each participant was asked to navigate the website where the experimental simulation of a LBA allows the participant to purchase time-and-location sensitive discounted tickets for nearby stores. Structural equations modeling using partial least square validated the instrument and the proposed model. The results showed that six (6) out of ten (10) hypotheses were supported. On the subject of the core PCM, H2 (locatability ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA) and H3 (privacy risks ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA) were supported, while H1 (personalization ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA) was not supported. Further, we could not any interaction effects (personalization X privacy risks, H4 & locatability X privacy risks, H5) on the intention to use LBA. In terms of privacy risks and trust, as mentioned above we found the significant negative influence from privacy risks on intention to use (H3), but positive influence from trust, which supported H6 (trust ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA). The moderating effect of trust on the negative relationship between privacy risks and intention to use LBA was tested and confirmed by supporting H7 (privacy risks X trust ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA). The two hypotheses regarding to the TAM, including H8 (perceived ease of use ${\rightarrow}$ perceived usefulness) and H9 (perceived ease of use ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA) were supported; however, H10 (perceived effectiveness ${\rightarrow}$ intention to use LBA) was not supported. Results of this study offer the following key findings and implications. First the application of PCM was found to be a good analysis framework in the context of LBA adoption. Many of the hypotheses in the model were confirmed and the high value of $R^2$ (i.,e., 51%) indicated a good fit of the model. In particular, locatability and privacy risks are found to be the appropriate PCM-based antecedent variables. Second, the existence of moderating effect of trust on service provider suggests that the same marginal change in the level of privacy risks may differentially influence the intention to use LBA. That is, while the privacy risks increasingly become important social issues and will negatively influence the intention to use LBA, it is critical for LBA providers to build consumer trust and confidence to successfully mitigate this negative impact. Lastly, we could not find sufficient evidence that the intention to use LBA is influenced by perceived usefulness, which has been very well supported in most previous TAM research. This may suggest that more future research should examine the validity of applying TAM and further extend or modify it in the context of LBA or other similar smartphone apps.

  • 최근 금융과 IT가 결합된 핀테크에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 현재 핀테크 서비스는 확산 초기 단계에 있으며, 사용 확산을 위한 이슈로서 정보 보안 이슈가 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 핀테크 서비스 실 사용자들이 인지하는 정보프라이버시 염려를 중심으로 사용 저항 정도를 분석하고, 이들에 영향을 주는 요인들로 사회적 영향 정도와 모바일 인터넷 활용 능력을 분석하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 사용자의 조절초점성향과 정보프라이버시 염려의 상호작용이 사용자 저항에 미치는 효과를 검증하였다. 이를 통해, 핀테크 서비스에 대한 저항 감소 및 사용 확산을 위한 전략적 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구는 정보추구의 과도성으로 인해 자행되는 프라이버시 침해를 살펴보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 최근 5년간 미디어에서 볼 수 있었던 프라이버시 침해 사례를 종류별로 분석, 이 중 지나친 정보추구행동의 결과로 나타나는 침해 사례들을 분석하였다. 정보추구의 동기, 주체, 성격이라는 세 가지 기준, 다섯 가지 유형에 기반, 과도한 정보추구로 인해 발생하는 프라이버시 침해를 사례별로 소개했다. 환경변화에 따른 바람직한 정보추구 자세와 프라이버시 침해 방지를 위한 정보이용에 대한 몇 가지 고민과 제언으로 마무리하였다.

  • 프라이버시는 개인의 사생활이나 사적인 일이 타인에게 공개되지 않을 권리를 뜻한다. 바이오정보는 그 사람 자체에 대한 가장 사적인 개인정보로 기술이 발전함에 따라 개인 식별뿐만 아니라 개인에 대한 분석 및 판단까지도 가능하다. 개인정보보호법은 글로벌 프라이버시 원칙들을 기반으로 하여 만들어 졌으나 바이오정보보호를 위한 법제는 아직 제정되어 있지 않으며, 가이드라인으로 규정되어 있다. 이에 바이오정보를 일반 개인정보보다 더욱 민감한 정보로서 보호해야 할 시점에 이르러 바이오정보 보호를 위한 국제적인 프라이버시 논의들을 살펴보고 최근 개정된 바이오정보 보호 가이드라인을 개선할 수 있는 프라이버시 원칙들과 바이오정보의 활용을 위한 조치 사항을 제안하고자 한다.

The Ethics of AI in Online Marketing: Examining the Impacts on Consumer privacyand Decision-making

  • Online marketing is a rapidly growing industry that heavily depends on digital technologies and data analysis to effectively reach and engage consumers. For that, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a crucial tool for online marketers, enabling marketers to analyze extensive consumer data and automate decision-making processes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ethical implications of using AI in online marketing, focusing on its impact on consumer privacy and decision-making. AI has created new possibilities for personalized marketing but raises concerns about the collection and use of consumer data, transparency and accountability of decision-making, and the impact on consumer autonomy and privacy. In this study, we reviewed the relevant literature and case studies to assess the potential risks and make recommendations for improving consumer protection. The findings provide insights into ethical considerations and offer a roadmap for balancing the advantages of AI in online marketing with the protection of consumer rights. Companies should consider these ethical issues when implementing AI in their marketing strategies. In this study, we explored the concerns and provided insights into the challenges posed by AI in online marketing, such as the collection and use of consumer data, transparency, and accountability of decision-making, and the impact on consumer autonomy and privacy.

범죄 대응을 위한 경찰 영상장비의 활용과 법 동향 (Application of Police Video Equipment for Fighting Crime and Legal Trends)

  • 경찰이 범죄예방과 수사를 위해 영상장비를 활용하고 있는 것은 비단 최근의 일만은 아니다. 과거 캠코더나 열화상 카메라와 같은 새로운 영상장비들이 개발되어 사용되면서부터 꾸준히 범죄에 대응하기 위한 수단으로 사용되어 왔다. 하지만 최근 들어 지능형 CCTV나 드론의 영상장비, 개량된 열화상 카메라 등과 같이 관련 기술들이 더욱 진화하고, 해당 영상 장비들을 범죄대응 목적으로 사용할 수 있는 근거 법령들이 뒷받침 되면서 그 활용범위가 보다 넓어지고 있다. 그에 따라 범죄예방 목적 뿐 아니라 범죄수사, 형사소송절차에도 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 영상장비의 활용이 많아짐에 따라 다양한 문제점들도 제기되고 있다. 최근 범죄대응 영상장비의 활용과 관련된 문헌들을 살펴보면 근거규정 미비, 개인정보 침해 위험성, 사생활 자유침해, 그리고 영상장비의 보안침해에 대해 꾸준히 문제점들을 제시하고 있다. 앞으로 영상장비는 보다 다양한 모습으로 범죄대응을 위해서 사용될 것이고, 그 기술 또한 더욱 발전할 것이다. 하지만 지금 시점에서 제기되고 있는 문제점을 해결하지 않는다면 앞으로 더욱 큰 문제들이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 입법자들과 정부는 제기되는 문제점들을 면밀히 검토하여 영상장비들이 시민의 인권을 침해하지 않으면서 시민의 안전을 위해 활용될 수 있도록 노력해야 할 것이다.

Information Sharing on Blogosphere: An Impact of Trust and Online Privacy Concerns

  • Blog have become very popular with Internet users as one of the latest forms of online communication as well as knowledge sharing tools. However, blogs generate growing concerns regarding information privacy issues. This study, based on social exchange theory, presents results about bloggers' information sharing behavior. The 157 surveys are collected from a large university in the eastern U.S. The survey results indicate that trust which has four second order factors: economy based trust, trust in reciprocity, trust in other bloggers and trust in social interaction positively affects bloggers' information sharing behavior. However, online information privacy concerns have a negative impact on the relationship between trust and bloggers' information sharing behavior.
