  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength between metal core fabricated by 3D printing and dental porcelain. Thirty metal cores were fabricated(cast 15ea, 3D printing 15ea). The porcelain for each group was builded to the metal core. Sample was loaded to shear force(crosshead speed 1mm/min) in a universal material testing machine. The fracture samples were analyzed failure aspect. The means were statistical analyzed using by Mann-whitney test(${\alpha}=0.05$). The period of experimental(metal cores fabrication, dental porcelain build up, data analysis, statistical analysis, failure aspect analysis and others) for this study took six months. The $mean{\pm}SDs$ of shear bond strength was $50.14{\pm}1.60MPa$ for the cast group, and $54.36{\pm}3.18MPa$ for the 3D printing group(p=0.035). The failure aspect showed mixed failure. As a results, metal cores fabricated by 3D printing method were clinically acceptable range.

  • The structure of the femur bone was analyzed. Moreover, the mechanical strength of the bone was determined by considering two parameters, namely, the outer wall thickness and inner filling density to realize the 3D printing of a cortical bone and spongy bone by using a fused deposition modeling type 3D printer and ABS material. A basic experiment was conducted to evaluate the variation trend in the mechanical strength of the test specimens with the change in the parameters. Based on the results, the parameters corresponding to the highest mechanical strength were selected and applied to the artificial bone, and the mechanical strength of the artificial bones was examined under a load. Moreover, we proposed an approximation method for the 3D printing parameters to enable the comparison of the actual bones and artificial bones in terms of the strength and weight.

  • In this paper, the effects of different 3D printing parameters including laminated angle and annealing temperature, were observed for their effects on tensile testing. In 3D printing, a filament is heated quickly, extruded, and then cooled rapidly. Because plastic is a poor heat conductor, it heats and cools unevenly causing the rapid heating and cooling to create internal stress within the printed part. Therefore, internal stress can be removed using annealing and to increase tensile strength and strain. During air cooling at annealing temperature $140^{\circ}C$, the strain of laminated angle $45^{\circ}$ specimens tended to increase by 46% while the tensile stress tended to increase by 7.4%. During oven cooling at annealing temperature $140^{\circ}C$, the strain of laminated angle $45^{\circ}$ specimens tended to increase by 34% while the tensile stress tended to increase by 22.2%. In this study, we found "3D printing with annealing" eliminates internal stress and increases the strength and stiffness of a printed piece. On the microstructural level, annealing reforms the crystalline structures to even out the areas of high and low stress, which created fewer weak areas. These results are very useful for making 3D printed products with a mechanical strength that is suitable for applications.

  • Recently, Study of 3D freeform fabrication method was working in the various applications. For example, in the powder base, it's laminated using a binding method or laser sintering method. However, these methods are not suitable in the office environments because it dust with powder that is bad for health. In this paper, we introduce a method of 3D freeform fabrication using a curing of photo-polymer resin and construct a system has multi printing head. A photo-polymer curing method has simply fabrication process and high strength of manufacturing part. However, this method has a problem on the multi print-head system. Because multi-printing system has a other printing method compare with a single printing system. Therefore, we experiment a single head 3D printing and proposed a 3D printing method using a multi-piezo head.

  • Additive manufacturing (AM), so called 3D Printing is a new manufacturing process and is getting attraction from many industries. There are several methods of 3D printing. Among them fused deposition modeling (FDM) type is most widely used by reason of cheap maintenance, easy operation and variety of polymeric materials. Articles manufactured by 3D printing have weak deposition strength compared with conventionally manufactured products. Deposition strength of FDM type 3D printed article is highly dependent of deposition temperature. Subsequently the nozzle temperature in the FDM type 3D printing is very important and it is controlled by heat source in the 3D printer. Nozzle is connected with heat block and barrel, and heat block contains heat source. Nozzle becomes hot through heat conduction from heat source. Nozzle temperature has been predicted for various thermal boundary conditions by computer simulation and compared with experimental measurement. Nozzle temperature highly depends upon thermal conductivities of heat block and nozzle. Simulation results are good agreement with experiment.

  • Digitization and automation technologies have rapidly maximized productivity and efficiency in all industries over the past few decades. Construction automation technology has either stagnated over the same period or has not kept pace with overall economic productivity. According to the research studies up to now, the output of concrete structures using coarse aggregates (8mm or more) is very limited due to the limitations of equipment and materials. In this study, information on the development process of 3DCP equipment that can print concrete structures with the printing width (100 mm or more) and printing thickness (30 mm or more) using a 3DCP material mixed with coarse aggregate (8 mm or more) is provided. To verify the performance of the developed 3DCP equipment, experimental data are provided on output variables, the number of layers, and the inter-layer printing time interval. The evaluation and verification data of various mechanical properties (compressive and splitting tensile strength) of printed materials using coarse aggregates are provided.

  • The development of advanced 3D printing technologies has opened up new opportunities for customized digital designs in the construction industry. Using nano- and micro-scale additives is expected to improve the performance of cement-based materials in 3D printing. TiO2 particles have been widely used as reinforcing additives in cement-based materials. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the application of cement-based materials containing multi-size TiO2 particles in binder jet 3D printing and the effect of different-size TiO2 particles on the performance of printed samples. TiO2 particles exhibit an excellent filling effect, which increases the density of the printed samples and promotes hydration, thereby improving the compressive strength of the samples. In addition, larger TiO2 particles exert more pronounced filling and photocatalytic effects on the resulting samples.

  • The number of use cases in machinery, aviation, and other industries that manufacture precise parts is increasing, and the construction industry is also increasingly using 3D printing technology. Although various materials for 3D printing are currently being developed and utilized, 3D printing manufacturing has a problem that the mechanical properties of the product may change when compared with conventional manufacturing methods such as injection and molding. This paper verifies the effect of the printing orientation on the mechanical properties of the product in the manufacture of PA12 material and providing basic data on the practical use of the materials as building subsidiary materials and structural materials. The results of the experiment showed that the product printed in the orientation of 0° showed the lowest overall strength and elongation rate, and the product printed in the orientation of 45° showed the highest figure. Overall, tensile strength and yield strength increased between 0° and 45°, and tended to decrease somewhat at 45° to 90°.

  • Purpose: In this study, we added two kinds of photoinitiators (CQ and TPO) to prepare two kinds of denture base resins (Bis-GMA series and UDMA series) for three-dimensional (3D) printing to compare and analyze their mechanical and biological properties and to find the optimal composition. Methods: Control specimens were made using the mold made of polyvinyl siloxane of the same size. Light curing was performed twice for 20 seconds on both the upper and lower surfaces with LED (light emitting diode) light-curing unit (n=10). Experimental 3D printing dental resins were prepared, to which two photoinitiators were added. Digital light processing type 3D printer (EMBER, Autodesk, CA, USA) was used for 3D printing. The specimen size was 64 mm×10 mm×3.3 mm according to ISO 20795-1. The final specimens were tested for flexural strength and flexural modulus, and MTT test was performed. Furthermore, one-way analysis of variance was performed, and the post-test was analyzed by Duncan's test at α=0.05. Results: The flexural strength of both Bis-GMA+CQ (97.12±6.47 MPa) and UDMA+TPO (97.40±3.75 MPa) was significantly higher (p<0.05) in the experimental group. The flexural modulus in the experimental group of UDMA+TPO (2.56±0.06 GPa) was the highest (p<0.05). MTT test revealed that all the experimental groups showed more than 70% cell activity. Conclusion: The composition of UDMA+TPO showed excellent results in flexural strength, flexural modulus, and biocompatibility.
