흥인지문의 진동특성 및 상반성 분석 (Investigation on Vibration Characteristics and Structural Reciprocity of Heunginjimun)

  • Heunginjimun designated as a Treasure No.1 is a two-story wooden structure with 5 bay and 2 bay in its front and side views, respectively. This paper presents an investigation on vibration characteristics of Heunginjimun through both ambient vibration and impact hammer tests. Ambient vibration test was performed to identify the natural frequency of Heunginjimun from the spectrum analysis of time history. Impact hammer test was undertaken to find the frequency of Heunginjimun which is affected by the surrounding traffics and to verify the reciprocal principle for the wooden structural system. Ambient vibration test results of Heunginjimun showed that the natural frequencies in two principal axes 1.5 Hz and 1.1 Hz, respectively. It was confirmed from impact hammer tests for a ground that the frequency of 4.2 Hz is caused by the traffics surrounding Heunginjimun. It was also observed that from the impact hammer test results between two locations in Heunginjimun that the transfer functions measured from two corresponding locations coincided well with each other. This result shows that the wooden structural system is globally linear, and the reciprocal principle is established.

  • p-Phenylenediamine dihydrobromide 와 p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride는 isomorphous임을 밝혔다. p-Phenylenediamine dihydrobromide는 三斜軸晶系(三斜晶系)에 屬하며 cell dimension 은 $a=4.52{\pm}0.02,\;b=6.13{\pm}0.02,\;c=8.88{\pm}0.03{\AA},\;{\alpha}=111{\pm}1^{\circ},\;{\beta}=97{\pm}1^{\circ},\;{\gamma}=101{\pm}1^{\circ}$ 이며 單位細胞(單位格子)속에 들어있는 化學單位數는 1이다. 이 物質의 結晶構造가 3結晶軸에 따라 投影한 電子密度에 依하여 決定되었으며 二次元的인 Fourier synthesis에 依하여 精密化하였다.

  • An effective dexterous motion control method of redundant robot manipulators based on neural optimization network is proposed to satisfy multi-criteria such as singularity avoidance, minimizing energy consumption, and avoiding physical limits of actuator, while performing a given task. The method employs a neural optimization network with parallel processing capability, where only a simple geometric analysis for resolved motion of each joint is required instead of computing of the Jacobian and its pseudo inverse matrix. For dexterous motion, a joint geometric manipulability measure(JGMM) is proposed. JGMM evaluates a contribution of each joint differential motion in enlarging the length of the shortest axis among principal axes of the manipulability ellipsoid volume approximately obtained by a geometric analysis. Redundant robot manipulators is then controlled by neural optimization networks in such a way that 1) linear combination of the resolved motion by each joint differential motion should be equal to the desired velocity, 2) physical limits of joints are not violated, and 3) weighted sum of the square of each differential joint motion is minimized where weightings are adjusted by JGMM. To show the validity of the proposed method, several numerical examples are illustrated.

Influence of ground motion selection methods on seismic directionality effects

  • This study investigates the impact of the earthquake incident angle on the structural demand and the influence of ground motion selection and scaling methods on seismic directionality effects. The structural demand produced by Non-Linear Time-History Analyses (NLTHA) varies with the seismic input incidence angle. The seismic directionality effects are evaluated by subjecting four three-dimensional reinforced concrete structures to different scaled and un-scaled records oriented along nine incidence angles, whose values range between 0 and 180 degrees, with an increment of 22.5 degrees. The results show that NLTHAs performed applying the ground motion records along the principal axes underestimate the structural demand prediction, especially when plan-irregular structures are analyzed. The ground motion records generate the highest demand when applied along the lowest strength structural direction and a high energy content of the records increases the structural demand corresponding to this direction. The seismic directionality impact on structural demand is particularly important for irregular buildings subjected to un-scaled accelerograms. However, the orientation effects are much lower if spectrum-compatible combinations of scaled records are used. In both cases, irregular structures should be analyzed first with pushover analyses in order to identify the weaker structural directions and then with NLTHAs for different incidence angles.

Response modification factor and seismic fragility assessment of skewed multi-span continuous concrete girder bridges

  • Skewed bridges, being irregular structures with complicated dynamic behavior, are more susceptible to earthquake damage. Reliable seismic-resistant design of skewed bridges can be achieved by accurate determination of nonlinear seismic demands. However, the effect of geometric characteristics on the response modification factor (R-factor) is not accounted for in bridge design practices. This study attempts to investigate the effects of changes in the number of spans, skew angle and bearing stiffness on R-factor values and to assess the seismic fragility of skewed bridges. Results indicated that changes in the skew angle had no significant effect on R-factor values which were in consonance with code-prescribed R values. Also, unlike the increase in the number of spans that resulted in a decrease in the R-factor, the increase in bearing stiffness led to higher R-factor values. Findings of the fragility analysis implied that although the increase in the number of spans, as well as the increase in the skew angle, led to a higher failure probability, greater values of bearing stiffness reduced the collapse probability. For practicing design engineers, it is recommended that maximum demands on substructure elements to be calculated when the excitation angle is applied along the principal axes of skewed bridges.

컬러이미지 검색을 위한 히스토그램 평활화 기반 고유 병발 특징에 관한 연구 (Histogram Equalized Eigen Co-occurrence Features for Color Image Classification)

  • An eigen color co-occurrence approach is proposed that exploits the correlation between color channels to identify the degree of image similarity. This method is based on traditional co-occurrence matrix method and histogram equalization. On the purpose of feature extraction, eigen color co-occurrence matrices are computed for extracting the statistical relationships embedded in color images by applying Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on a set of color co-occurrence matrices, which are computed on the histogram equalized images. That eigen space is created with a set of orthogonal axes to gain the essential structures of color co-occurrence matrices, which is used to identify the degree of similarity to classify an input image to be tested for various purposes. In this paper RGB, Gaussian color space are compared with grayscale image in terms of PCA eigen features embedded in histogram equalized co-occurrence features. The experimental results are presented.

A novel method for solving structural problems: Elastoplastic analysis of a pressurized thick heterogeneous sphere

  • If the governing differential equation arising from engineering problems is treated as an analytic, continuous and derivable function, it can be expanded by one point as a series of finite numbers. For the function to be zero for each value of its domain, the coefficients of each term of the same power must be zero. This results in a recursive relationship which, after applying the natural conditions or the boundary conditions, makes it possible to obtain the values of the derivatives of the function with acceptable accuracy. The elastoplastic analysis of an inhomogeneous thick sphere of metallic materials with linear variation of the modulus of elasticity, yield stress and Poisson's ratio as a function of radius subjected to internal pressure is presented. The Beltrami-Michell equation is established by combining equilibrium, compatibility and constitutive equations. Assuming axisymmetric conditions, the spherical coordinate parameters can be used as principal stress axes. Since there is no analytical solution, the natural boundary conditions are applied and the governing equations are solved using a proposed new method. The maximum effective stress of the von Mises yield criterion occurs at the inner surface; therefore, the negative sign of the linear yield stress gradation parameter should be considered to calculate the optimal yield pressure. The numerical examples are performed and the plots of the numerical results are presented. The validation of the numerical results is observed by modeling the elastoplastic heterogeneous thick sphere as a pressurized multilayer composite reservoir in Abaqus software. The subroutine USDFLD was additionally written to model the continuous gradation of the material.

생태형태학적(生態形態學的) 특성(特性) 분석(分析)에 의한 활엽수종(闊葉樹種)의 극성상지수(極盛相指數) 추정(推定) (The Estimation of Climax Index for Broadleaved Tree Species by Analysis of Ecomorphological Properties)

  • 천연활엽수림(天然闊葉樹林) 군집(群集)에서 수종(樹種)의 천이계열(遷移系列)상의 위치를 해석(解析)하기 위하여 84개 활엽수(闊葉樹) 교목(喬木) 및 관목(灌木) 수종들의 생태형태학적(生態形態學的) 특성 분석을 바탕으로 극성상지수(極盛相指數)를 추정(推定)하였다. 생태형태학적(生態形態學的) 특성은 천이(遷移) 단계와 관계있다고 판단한 19가지를 선정하였으며, 각 수종별로 특성마다 극성상으로 갈수록 증가하는 2-4단계의 표준화된 점수를 부여하고 총점에 대한 합계점수의 백분율로써 극성상지수(極盛相指數)로 삼았다. 연구 대상 수종 중에서 서어나무의 지수(指數)가 83.3으로 최고치를 기록하였고 사시나무의 지수(指數)가 18.8로써 최저치로 추정되었으며, 전체 지수(指數)의 평균(平均)은 54.2로 산출되었다. 70이상의 지수(指數)값을 나타낸 수종은 9개, 40이상 70미만의 지수(指數)값을 나타낸 수종은 58개, 그리고 40미만의 지수(指數)값을 나타낸 수종은 17개로 집계(集計)되어, 천이(遷移) 중반단계의 삼림이 갖는 다양한 자원(資源) 혹은 생태적(生態的) 지위(地位)(niche)를 이용하는 수종(樹種)의 수가 압도적으로 많음을 알 수 있다. 주성분분석(主成分分析)을 통하여 각 수종이 광선흡수(光線吸收), 번식(繁殖), 그리고 목재(木材) 성질(性質) 등의 요인(要因)에 따르는 위치를 3차원(次元) 좌표(座標)상에 ordination하였고, cluster분석(分析)을 통하여 유사(類似)한 특징을 가진 4가지 수종군(樹種群)을 분류(分類)하였다. 과(科)별로 극성상지수(極盛相指數) 범위를 파악한 결과, 자작나무과(科)와 단풍나무과(科)에 속하는 수종들의 지수(指數) 범위가 넓었고, 버드나무과의 수종들은 선구수종의 전형적인 특성을 나타내었으나, 특별히 극성상(極盛相) 생활형(生活形)의 수종군(樹種群)을 갖는 과(科)는 없었다.

${\gamma}$-선에 조사된 황산칼륨 단결정의 상자성 결함에 관한 전자스핀공명 연구 (ESR Study of Paramagnetic Defects of the ${\gamma}$-irradiated Potassium Sulfate Single Crystal)

  • 황산칼륨($K_2SO_4$) 포화용액으로부터 증발법으로 $K_2SO_4$ 단결정을 최적조건에서 생성시킨다. 이 단결정은 약 $12{\times}10^6$ 렌트켄의 ${\gamma}$-선에 조사시키면 그 결정내에 상자성 중심 또는 상자성 결합을 형성한다. 이 상자성 중심들의 전자스핀공명(ESR) 스펙트라를 상온에서 X-띠 전자스핀 공명 분광분석기로 얻는다. 상자성종들의 ESR 피이크들은 무등방성을 보이지만 $SO_3-$기만은 g = 2.0036인 가우스형 등방성 피이크이었다. 무등방성피이크들의 각도 의존성을 나타내기 위하여 서로 직교하는 a, b, c 결정축으로 단결정을 회전시키면서 여러 각도에서 ESR 스펙트라를 기록하였다. 무등방성 피이크들과 등방성 피이크의 선위치관계로부터 g값들을 계산하고 각 상자성 중심에 대응하는 g-값의 9매트릭스 원소들을 대각화 시켜 주 g-값과 방향여현을 얻는다. 이들 특성 주 g-값과 방향여현을 사용하여 모든 상자성 결합구조를 확인하였다.

조선누층군 풍촌석회암 방해석 쌍정에서 유추된 고응력장 (Paleostress Inferred from Calcite Twins in the Pungchon Limestone, Joseon Supergroup)

  • 본 연구는 방해석 내 쌍정을 이용하여 조선누층군 풍촌석회암층의 고응력장을 규명하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 조선누층군 두위봉형의 풍촌석회암에서 6개의 시료를 채취하여 방해석 c-축의 방향 및 경사, e 쌍정면의 방향 및 경사, 쌍정의 평균 두께 및 갯수, 방해석 입자의 크기 등을 측정하였다. 측정된 자료들은 Calcite Strain Gauge 프로그램에 입력되어 쌍정의 변형률, 평균 두께, 치밀도 및 고응력장의 상대적 크기 및 방향 등을 계산하였다. 쌍정의 변형률은 1.09~15.36%, 평균 두께는 0.53~3.72 ㎛, 치밀도는 21.0~53.1 twin/mm의 범위를 보인다. 쌍정의 변형률, 치밀도 및 두께에 의한 변성온도 계산결과 대부분의 시료에서 170~200℃ 이하를 보여, 풍촌층의 상부층인 직운산층의 변성온도에 비교할 때 최대 심도의 절반 이상 상승한 후에 쌍정이 생성된 것으로 판단된다. 응력장의 방향은 5개의 시료에서 2방향을 보이는 반면, 단지 1개의 시료에서만 한 방향을 보여 대부분의 시료에서 압축응력이 2번 이상 작용하였음을 보여준다. 압축응력은 WNW-ESE~ENE-WSW의 방향성이 가장 우세하고 NW-SE와 NE-SW의 방향성도 보인다. 본 연구에서 측정된 고응력장과 연구지역 인근에서 지질구조나 다른 방법에 의하여 규명된 고응력장과 비교할 때 E-W 방향의 고응력장은 트라이아스기 말에서 쥬라기 초에 발생한 송림조산운동에 가장 큰 압축응력이 작용하였고 쥬라기에 발생한 대보조산운동과 불국사 변동에 의해서도 쌍정이 생성된 것으로 판단된다.
