Liquid Injection Nozzle(LIN) tube and Calandria tube(CT) in pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) are .ross-aligned horizontally. These neighboring tubes can contact each other due to the sag of the calandria tube resulting from the irradiation creep and thermal creep, and fuel load, etc. In order to judge the contact which might be the safety concern, the remote field eddy current (RFEC) technology is applied for the gap measurement in this paper. LIN can be detected by inserting the RFEC probe into pressure tube (PT) at the crossing point directly. To obtain the optimal conditions of the RFEC inspection, the sensitivity, penetration and noise signals are considered simultaneously. The optimal frequency and coil spacing are 1kHz and 200mm respectively. Possible noises during LIN signal acquisition are caused by lift-off, PT thickness variation, and gap variation between PT and CT. The simulated noise signals were investigated by the Volume Integral Method(VIM). Signal analysis on the voltage plane describes the amplitude and shape of LIN and possible defects at several frequencies. All the RFEC measurements in the laboratory were done in variance with the CT/LIN gap and showed the relationship between the LIN gap and the signal parameters by analyzing the voltage plane signals.
Lentinus giganteus, one of edible and medicinal mushroom belongs to Pleurotaceae of Agaricales, has been known to contain some inhibitive substances on Sarcoma 180 and curative effect on high blood pressure. Neutral saline soluble (0.9% NaCl), hot water soluble and methanol soluble substances (hereinafter referred to Fr. NaCl, Fr. HW and Fr. MeOH, respectively) were extracted from fruiting body of the mushroom. In vitro cytotoxicity tests, crude polysaccharides were not cytotoxic against cancer cell lines such as Sarcoma 180 and HepG2 at the concentration of $10{\sim}2,000\;{\mu}g/ml$, but crude polysaccharides from Fr. NaCl was toxic to NIH3T3 at the concentration of $10{\sim}2,000\;{\mu}g/ml$. Intraperitoneal injection with crude polysaccharides showed life prolongation effect of $14.3{\sim}67.5%$ in mice previously inoculated with Sarcoma 180, respectively. Fr. NaCl exhibited the immuno-potentiating activity of B lymphocyte by increasing the alkaline phosphatase activity by $1.53{\sim}1.68$ folds compared with control at the concentration of $50{\sim}200\;{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The numbers of peritoneal exudate cells and circulating leukocytes were increased by 7.7 and 1.6 folds by injecting Fr. NaCl and Fr. MeOH into the mice at the concentration of 50 mg/ml body weight, respectively.
Best-estimate thermal-hydraulic codes, CATHARE2 V1.2 and RELAP5/MOD3, hate been assessed against the BETHSY 6.2 tc six-inch cold leg break loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) test. Main objective is to analyze the overall capabilities of the two codes on physical phenomena of concern during the small break LOCA i.e. two-phase critical flow, depressurization, core water level de-pression, loop seal clearing, liquid holdup, etc. The calculation results show that the too codes predict well both in the occurrences and trends of major two-phase flow phenomena observed. Especially, the CATHARE2 calculations show better agreements with the experimental data. However, the two codes, in common, show some deviations in the predictions of loop seal clearing, collapsed core water level after the loop seal clearing, and accumulator injection behaviors. The discrepancies found from the comprision with the experimental data are larger in the RELAP5 results than in the CATHARE2. To analyze the deviations of the two code predictions in detail, several sensitivity calculations have been performed. In addition to the change of two-phase discharge coefficients for the break junction, fine nodalization and some corrections of the interphase drag term are made. For CATHARE2, the change of interphase drag force improves the mass distribution in the primary side. And the prediction of SG pressure is improved by the modification of boundary conditions. For RELAP5, any single input change doesn't improve the whole result and it is found that the interphase drag model has still large uncertainties.

A transient, three-dimensional, two-phase flow analysis code, CUPID, has been developed in KAERI. In this work, we performed a preliminary analysis using the CUPID code to investigate the thermal-hydraulic behavior of the moderator in the Calandria vessel of a CANDU reactor. At first, we validated the CUPID code using the three experiments that were performed at Stern Laboratories Inc. To avoid the complexity to generate computational mesh around the Calandria tube bundles, a porous media approach was applied for the region. The pressure drop in the porous media zone was modeled by an empirical correlation. The results of the calculations showed that the CUPID code can predict the mixed flow pattern of forced and natural convection inside the Calandria vessel very well. Thereafter, the analysis was extended to a two-phase flow condition. Also, the local maximum temperature in the Calandria vessel was plotted as a function of the injection flow rate, which may be utilized to predict the local subcooling margin.
As it has become difficult to secure new water resources through dam construction due to the critical social public opinions on dam construction from 10 years ago, it is necessary to review the existing water resources through the review of existing dams. Accordingly, access methods, such as planning, construction and management, were carried out using technologies already accumulated in relation to the repair and reinforcement of the dam. As a result of the repair and reinforcement, permeation grouting has been performed in many dams, but the establishment of the technology is insufficient so far, and the published paper at home and abroad is extremely rare. In this thesis, low-pressure penetration and grouting reinforcement technologies for the YC dam are analyzed in detail. As a result, penetration grouting has shown that it can be effectively applied to the improvement in the constallability of the core fill-like a YC dam. In addition, the technical details of the experience-proven penetration grouting are given in relation to the injection criteria. It is deemed that the specific analysis data of the Fill Dam penetration grouting technology through this study can be used as useful data for strengthening the repair of Fill Dam and reservoir.
The hemodynamic changes in septic patients produced by inhalational anesthetics are sufficient to threaten the anesthesiologists. The effect of hydroxocobalamin, a vitamin $B_{12a}$, on contractile responses to phenylephrine during administration of inhalational anesthetics were evaluated in aortic ring preparations obtained from LPS-treated rats. The sepsis was developed by intraperitoneal injection of LPS (1.5 mg/kg for l8h) and confirmed by iNOS expression using RT-PCR. Statistical significances (P<0.05) were analyzed by Student's t-test or paired t-test according to data characteristics. The blood pressure, but not heart rate, was decreased in LPS-treated rats as compared to control rats. The contractile response to phenylephrine were dose-dependently increased from the doses of $10^{-8}\;M$ to that of $10^{-5}$ and were attenuated in LPS-treated rings. Both halothane and enflurane, at the doses of 1 MAC, decreased the contractile responses to phenylephrine while isoflurane did not significantly affect the contractile responses. Hydroxocobalamin ($10^{-5}$ M) significantly potentiated the contractile responses in the LPS-treated aortic ring preparations during administration of each inhalational anesthetic or not. From these results, it is suggested that hydroxocobalamin may improve the hemodynamics of septic patients during inhalational anesthesia. Abbreviations: LPS, lipopolysaccharide; RT-PCR, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction; MAC, minimum alveolar concentration; iNOS, inducible nitric oxide synthase; GAPDH, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase
An automated on-line portable preconcentration-short column gas chromatograph was developed, which used preconcentrator using adsorption tube with Tenax-GR and Curie-point heating. The developed system operated with 3 steps of processing, preconcentration, thermal desorption, and analysis and cleaning, and could continued operating within 1~2 min cycle. The recoveries of preconcentrator for toluene was ranged between $94.7{\pm}6.6%$ and $103.8{\pm}3.1%$ with less than 7% of RSD. For benzene, toluene and xylene(BTX) standard gas test, IDL was 41, 49, $472ng/m^3$ benzene, toluene and o-xylene, respectively. The BTX mixture was analyzed within 30 sec with baseline separation by the system equipped with 4 m long capillary column. The deficiency of separation power caused by short column was solved by the control of sample injection volume and inlet/outlet pressure ratio. The automated portable preconcentration-short column gas chromatograph system was found to be useful for the continuous air monitoring of BTX at ppb levels in ambient air.
A multicolumn system consisted of two valve(10-port and 6-port valve)-three column (28% DC 200, SP 1700 and Chromosorb 102 column) was developed. Nine natural gas components composed of $N_2$, $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $C_2H_6$, $C_3H_8$, $i-C_4H_{10}$, $n-C_4H_{10}$, $i-C_5H_{12}$ 및 $n-C_5H_{12}$ completed all the baseline separation within 18 minutes. The accuracy and the precision of this system was tested. The retention times and the peak areas were determined with a repeatability between 0.02 and 0.16%, and less than 1%, respectively. Calibration curves for natural-gas components were plotted by the partial pressure injection method of pure gases, and good linear relationships for each component were presented. By using these calibration curves the accuracy of the multicolumn system compaired with that of the single column system for a certified standard gas of natural gas. As a result, relative error in the single and the multicolumn system was less than 0.5% and 0.04%, respectively. The result of application of this system in the analysis of importing LNG composition showed that the heating values calculated by the multicolum system were estimated lower compared with those calculated by the single column system and consequently, the importing price of LNG was able to be cut down.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how ozone-dissolution-tank structure affects micro-ozone-bubble distribution, energy consumption and water treatment efficiency. The partition walls inside the ozone-dissolution-tank generate pressure changes, shear forces, and swirling flows, which change the size of the bubble diameter. The size of the bubble diameter differs by 10.5% depending on the partition walls. Changes in ozone-bubble diameter are related to energy consumption. As the ozone-bubble becomes smaller, the bubble generation energy increases, but the ozone production energy decreases as the dissolution efficiency increases. Therefore, an ozone-dissolution-tank should be determined by means of an optimal condition producing a micro-ozone-bubble with a minimum sum of bubble generation energy and ozone production energy. The energy consumed to inject the same amount of ozone into the effluent differs by 2.5% depending on the partition walls. However, considering the water treatment efficiency, the conditions for selecting the ozone-dissolution-tank are variable. This is because the free radicals that increase as the ozone-bubble gets smaller are very efficient for water treatment. Even at the same ozone injection concentration, the water treatment efficiency differs by 10.4% according to the partition walls. Therefore, we have studied ozone-dissolution-tank structure which produces reasonable ozone-bubble considering water treatment efficiency and energy efficiency.
Air pollutants in a subway are complexly caused by outdoor factors such as ventilating opening and indoor factors such as the movement of passengers on the subway. According to recent research results, most of the air pollutants generated in subway tunnels and stations are caused by indoor variables such as train movement. To control air pollutants such as particulate matter (PM), a prevention facility such as the electrostatic precipitator (EP) or bag filter collector was required in a subway station. In particular, the PM removed by the EP must be kept clean continuously to manage PM effectively. Therefore, a nano-bubbling washing system was developed in this study to clean a contaminated collecting plate in an EP at the main subway tunnel in Seoul. Removal efficiency compared with normal water and nano-bubbling water was likewise studied. As a result, the washing efficiency of collective PM increased in accordance with the increasing of injection pressure, with nano bubbling washing being 130.8% higher than tap water. According to increase in washing times, the maximum washing efficiency was 143.1% higher than tap water, but suitable washing times were less than 3 times. According to the results of the washing efficiency by variation of residence time, it was confirmed that the maximum residence time of nano-bubble water was maintained within 5 minutes.
