This study describes the effect of the critical pressure ratio of a control valve on the performance of an air spring system composed of an air spring, auxiliary chamber, control valve and mass in order to suggest a more efficient design for an air spring system. The critical pressure ratio of the control valve is assumed to have a fixed value, but the critical pressure ratio of the control valve is known to have various values between 0.05 and 0.6, and the effect of the variation of the critical pressure ratio on the performance of the air spring system has not yet been reported. The analysis derives nonlinear and linear governing equations of the air spring system, including the critical pressure ratio of the control valve. This simulation study is presented to show that the impedance and transmissibility characteristics of the air spring system change due to variations in the critical pressure ratio of the control valve as well as its sonic conductance. As a result, the critical pressure ratio of the control valve should be maintained as large as possible to improve the vibration isolation characteristics of the air spring system.
Pilot operated control valve for $CO_2$ refrigerant is a valve that can perform various functions according to the user's intention by replacing pilot units, widely used for flow rate, pressure, and temperature control of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. In addition, $CO_2$ refrigerant, that requires high pressure and low critical temperature, can be installed and used in all positions of the refrigeration system, regardless of high or low pressure. In this paper, response characteristics are modeled and analyzed based on behavior of the main piston of the pilot-operated control valve. Although various factors influence operation of the main piston, this paper analyzes the effect of equilibrium pressure depending on valve installation position and application, and inlet and outlet orifice size of the load pressure feedback chamber to determine feedback characteristics of the main piston. As a result, it was possible to quantitatively analyze the effect of change in equilibrium and load pressure feedback chamber flow path size on the change in main piston dynamic and static characteristics.

By way of driving a 2-way on/off solenoid hydraulic valve with a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, control of the pressure in a certain volume is frequently used in various applications. However, the pressure built-up according to the duty ratio and carrier frequency of the PWM signal is not so well understood. In order to clarify the characteristics of 2-way valve hydraulic pressure control systems, in this paper two formula fur the mean and ripple of the load pressure were derived through theoretical analysis. And the accuracy of the derived formula were verified by comparison with the experimental test result. Generally 2-way valve systems are constructed as a bleed-off circuit, while 3-way valves are used as a control element in a meter-in circuit pressure control system. In a bleed-off circuit, the system supply pressure from a hydraulic power pack does not remain constant, but changes according to their external load. In turn, the relief valve in the hydraulic power pack reacts accordingly showing complicated dynamic behavior, which makes an analytical study difficult. In order to resolve the problem, simple but accurate empirical dynamic models fer a bleed-off system were used in the course of formula derivation. As the result, selection criteria for two major control parameters of the driving signal is established and the basic strategy to suppress the unnecessary pressure fluctuation can be provided for a hydraulic pressure control system using a 2-way on/off solenoid valve.

Making the best use of the features of the electro-rheological(ER) valve, a two-port pressure control valve using ER fluids is proposed and manufactured. The ER-Valve characteristics are evaluated by changing the intensity of the electric field and the number of electrode. In addition, the performance of the plate type ER-Valve is investigated by change the particle concentration of the ER fluid. As only with electrical signal change to the ER-Valve in which ER fluid flowing, ER fluid flow is controlled, so development of simple ER-Valves have been tried. The ER-Valves and pressure drop check method are considered to be applied to the fluid power control system. Using the minかnぉd pressure control valve, a one-link manipulator with FHA in robot system is driven. As a result, it is experimentally confirmed that the pressure control valve using ER fluids is applicable to use in driving actuator. If it applies characteristics of the ER fluids, it will be able to apply in the control system fir the ER Valve which occurs from industrial controller(PLC).

This paper proposes a novel type of pressure control mechanism which can apply to vehicle ABS (anti-lock braking system) utilizing the piezoactuator based valve system associated with the pressure modulator. As a first step, a flapper-nozzle of a pneumatic valve system is devised by integrating the piezoacuator to the flexible beam structure. The dynamic modeling of the valve system is then undertaken and subsequently the governing equation of pressure control is derived considering the pressure modulator. A sliding mode controller is designed in order to achieve accurate pressure tracking control in the presence of actuator uncertainty as well as input pressure variation. It is shown through computer simulation that an accurate pressure tracking for sinusoidal motion whose magnitude is 40 bar is achieved by utilizing the proposed pressure control mechanism.

Meter-in, meter-out and bleed-off circuits are widely utilized in order to adjust the speed of a hydraulic actuator by using a flow control valve and in order to regulate the pressure of a hydraulic volume by using a simple on-off valve. In these circuits, a relief valve serves either to maintain constant system pressure or to protect the system from over-pressure loading. The relief valve of a bleed-off circuit is the second case frequently undergoing on-off action during operation. It makes the analysis of the pressure control characteristics of the circuit highly difficult. In this paper, steady-state flow rate, pressure, heat loss and efficiency of the three circuits are reexamined and basic experiments far obtaining the characteristics of a pump and relief valve are conducted. Finally, simple empirical first-order dynamic models of decreasing and increasing pressure were separately proposed and verified by comparison with experiment. As the result, the basis for the theoretical analysis of the pressure control characteristics of a bleed-off circuit using a simple on-off valve is established.
This paper proposes a new type of piezoactuator-driven valve system. The piezoceramic actuator bonded to both sides of a flexible beam surface makes a movement required to control the pressure at the flapper-nozzle of a pneumatic system. After establishing a dynamic model, an appropriate size of the valve system is designed and manufactured. Subsequently, a sliding mode controller which is known to be robust to uncertainties such as disturbance is formulated in order to achieve accurate regulating and tracking control of the desired pressure. The controller is experimentally realized and control performances for various pressure trajectories are presented in time domain. The control bandwidth of the valve system which directly represents the fastness is also evaluated in the frequency domain.

The semi-active recoil system provides automatic hydraulic pressure and recoil length by an exteral impulse compared with the conventional recoil system. We developed the proto type of recoil system and validated the performance through simulation and experiment. The main issue of the system is how to adjust pressure and length simultaneously. The system consists of external pressure control valve and flow control valve outside of cylinder. The pressure control valve control the cylinder pressure and recoil length. The controlled system enhances the control performance.
The control-ability of vehicle active suspension is strongly affected by the performance of pressure control valve especially in the view of dynamic response and energy consumption. Important design parameters in the valve are selected and the effect of variation of those is analized experimentally to enhance the performance of pressure control valve used in Active Suspension.
The proportional pressure control valve that was used to relief valve has different dynamic characteristics on each case. Because this valve has different assembling or processing error and environmental condition. However, a customer who used the relief valve wants to have a steadily performance even if the dynamic characteristics of valve was changed. For this reason, the manufacturer try to make the robust controller that has simple structure. This paper concerns about the design of robust controller that didn't affected by plant parameter's changing. The control strategy is a model reference control that conducted by on line identification problem, gradient method and Lyapunov equation. This adaptvie control law's validity that this paper deal with was confirmed by an results of step response test or hysteresis test.
