  • In this study, strength and durability are investigated using structural and vibration analyses on models 1 and 2 of a press in common use. Model 1 has a structure in which a punch is applied from the upper part to the lower part; however, model 2 a structure in which a punch is applied from the lower part to the upper part. Maximum displacements of models 1 and 2 are 0.018184 mm and 0.025498 mm, respectively. Maximum equivalent stresses of models 1 and 2 are 14.144 MPa and 18.58 MPa respectively. Maximum displacements are shown for the punches of both models; model 1 has less deformation than model 2. Model 1 has more durability than model 2, as determined by an investigation of the structural strength. Using natural frequency analysis, model 1 was found to have maximum deformation in the upper part of punch. Mode1 2 has its maximum deformation in the column part of the body and the upper part of the fixed pin. Using harmonic stress analysis, the maximum deformations were found on the punch part and column part of the body in the cases of models 1 and 2, respectively. As the maximum total deformation and equivalent stress in the case of model 2 are shown to become 40 times those values of model 1, the vibration durability of model 2 can be seen to be weaker than that of model 1.

  • In the semiconductor industry the memory and chip were developed to high density memory and high performance chip, so circuit design was also high integrated and the test bed was needed to be thin and fine pitch socket. LGA(Land Grid Array) IC socket with thin wall thickness was designed to satisfy this requirement. The LGA IC socket plastic part was manufacture by injection molding process, it was needed accuracy, stiffness and suit resin with high flowability. After injection molding process the side gates were needed to remove for further assembly process. ln this study, the cold press cutting process was applied to remove the gates. For design of punch and die, the cold press cutting analysis was implemented by$DEFORM-2D^{TM}$ ln consideration of the simulation results, an adequate punch and die was designed and made for the cutting unit. In order to verify the performance of cutting process, the roughness of cutting section of the part was measured and was satisfied in requirement.

  • It is necessary for development of drawing product with press to have suitable material selection & all process design and the problem during press process has been cleared from judgement of experience & trial and error. Recently we can estimate press process result from computer aided design & FEM. But we can get more reliable result when we can put more precise process variants during FEM. In case of using a drawbead that is used for the material inflow, it is considered for us to put material property, other analysis condition & friction figure when material is passing through the drawbead for better FEM. From our study, we have drawn an analogy bead connection depth, friction figure & drawing and restraining load according to kinds of lubrication from experiment & FEM for the drawbead. We applied above result to the drawing experiment & FEM and confirmed the validity. We could notice the relation between friction figure & drawing load and the friction figure variation according to kinds of lubrication. It is expected to draw more precise analogy that can be used for real process due to more precise process variants application to FEM.

  • In this paper, a fault diagnosis method is proposed to detect and classifies faults that occur in press process line. An oil level automatic monitoring method is also presented to detect oil level. The FFT(fast fourier transform) frequency analysis and ART2 NN(adaptive resonance theory 2 neural network) with uneven vigilance parameters are used to achieve fault diagnosis in proposing method, and GUI(graphical user interface) program for fault diagnosis and oil level automatic monitoring using LabVIEW is produced and fault diagnosis was done. The experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis method of induction motors and oil level automatic monitor system.

  • The public mostly get the information regarding real estate policy not from the press release of the government but from news articles. This type of information, though, might be delivered in a different frame depending on inclination of media or press. The media runs the articles within its own frame, so that it often conveys either expectation or concern depending on its inclination. This study analyzed the articles regarding 'Agreement to revise three major real estate regulations to perk up property market' and examined how the real estate policy imprinted in them depending on the disposition of the press. The results showed that the conservative press ran articles within a positive frame expressing favorable expectation. On the other hand, progressive press mostly kept neutral or unfavorable tone on the same regulations within the negative frame. Therefore, it was confirmed that there exist different frames within articles depending on their disposition.

  • The papermaking process for a reconstituted tobacco sheet (RECON) has been preferred more because of the various merits such as a wide range of Recon products with better quality. The screw press is one of the very important process in RECON making process which divides the mixed raw materials into the soluble material and the insoluble material and could greatly affect the productivity and product quality. In this study, the characteristics of the screw press process in a Recon making mill were evaluated for two different RECON products. Three different efficiency index were proposed for the more detailed analysis of the screw press process. The result showed that the difference in the raw material might result in the difference in the efficiency and the properties of the extracts and the filter cake, especially in the HWS. The washing technique which applied in this experiment showed the amount of residual HWS in the fiber portion were not much changed by the each steps of the screw press.

  • This research introduces a new and improved design for a pneumatic cylinder driven roll feeder wherein each of the principal rotating feeder parts is configured so as to have feeding accuracy and to be low manufacturing cost. The feed pitch accuracy of the proposed roll feeder was evaluated by measuring lengths of cut offs of the strip stock with a shear attached to an air press. The air press was designed, manufactured, and mounted on the same table of the proposed roll feeder such that the strip stock maintained horizontal plane until the strip stock entered into the shear. The proposed roll feeder and the air press were designed to be operated automatically by a PLC employed controller. The feed pitch accuracy of the proposed roll feeder was analyzed by setting the pitch as 10, 12.5, and 15mm. At each predetermined feed pitch, the proposed roll feeder was tested 300 times as one test set and replicated three times. The average lengths of the cut offs of the strip stock ranged from 9.98 to 10.13mm, from 12.42 to 12.57mm, and from 14.96 to 15.06mm at the predetermined 10, 12.5, and 15mm feed pitch, respectively, among the total of 900 samples of each feed pitch. Main cause of variation of the length of the cut off of the strip stock fed by the proposed roll feeder was considered to be fluctuation of the air press during recompressing period of the air compressor to pressurize the air in the air tank. The largest difference between the maximum and the minimum length of the cut off was appeared while the air compressor recompressing the air. The air compressor used for this study restricted the air delivered to the proposed roll feeder while it was still running. Thus, this air delivery restriction problem should be improved by stabilizing the air press while the proposed roll feeder is running.

  • There are limited research questioning the relationship between the disabled community and media, particularly in Malaysia. The lack of awareness and common assumption of specialty towards the disabled community have caused a small amount of local disability researches that question the relationship between the disabled community and the media. This research aims to find out the types of representation of disability in the Malaysian mainstream media, particularly press. Interview with visual disabled personnel and content analysis from news coverage of mainstream press are deployed in the study. The findings indicated the invalidity of disability culture as the misrepresentation of disabled community in Malaysia is not as severe as depicted by scholars because the news coverage focusing on them is getting more positive. Besides that, disabled people are not defensive towards the terms used to refer them as long as media practitioners do not over amplify their disability. The application of charity approach is still common in news coverage to portray the disabled community as victim, and therefore they are partially marginalized due to the misrepresentation in Malaysian mainstream press.
