The aim of this study was to investigate the actual conditions underlying frequency of eating breakfast and nutritional attitudes in elementary school students in Chungnam area. Students had the highest ratio for eating breakfast everyday and spent 10-20 minutes eating breakfast. Students went to bed at 10-11 PM and woke up at 7-7:30 AM in the morning on average. The biggest reason for skipping breakfast was insufficient time in the morning. Additionally, favorite breakfast menu of subjects was a Korean style meal. The number of elementary students that recognized necessity of nutritional education was highest among subjects. Favorite educational method of subjects was education by teachers. Additionally, number of female students that recognized effect of breakfast on health status was significantly higher than boy students. Ratio of eating breakfast everyday was dependent on BMI value. Most subjects preferred video learning materials as the main nutritional education method. Overweight subjects showed the highest ratio for eating with loss of willpower compared to other students when they skipped the breakfast. Female subjects ate a greater variety of foods compared to male students, and showed better nutritional attitudes towards a desirable dietary life than male subjects. To prevent undesirable food habits and improve intake of various nutrients, systematic nutrition education is required to regulate breakfast of elementary students.

The ordinary children ate less midnight-meals than those of multi-cultural children (p<0.05). Furthermore, the ordinary children ate kimchi more frequently than the multi-cultural children. It was significantly different (p<0.05) on the items of 'eating-out types' dietary habits between two groups. Education of mothers correlated with the ordinary children's eating habits more than multi-cultural families. In the investigation of the food preference to Korean foods, 'beef and radish soup', 'pumpkin porridge', and 'wheat flakes noodles' were more preferred by children of ordinary families than by those of multi-cultural families (p<0.05). To conclude, nutritional education for their parents should be done and maintained to keep a right eating habit of children of multi-cultural families even at home.

This study was performed to analyze the preferences and actual use patterns of university students (96 males and 187 females) for bakeries in the Gyeongju area of Korea. A total of 283 questionnaires were used for the examination and statistical analyses were completed using SPSS Win (14.0) by descriptive analysis and $x^2$-tests. The most favored bakery products were prepared items such as sandwiches and toast. Most of the respondents (92.9%) typically used bread for snacks, and the main places of purchase were well-known bakery shops (38.5%) in which females preferred well-known shops more than males. In addition, the respondents liked milk (79.9%) and jam (39.7%) as the beverage and food, respectively, to eat with bread. When choosing bread, the main selection point was taste (80.2%) and the cost per person per visit was usually 1,000~5,000 won (63.3%). The consumption frequency rate revealed that 49.1% of the students consumed bread as a snack, while 24.8% consumed bread with other foods 1~2 times a week. In the case of purchasing bread as a snack, females had more purchases than males (p<0.05). Students who lived in their own home (p<0.001) with a commute time to school greater than 30 minutes (p<0.001) had the highest number of bread purchases as a snack. The most important point for bread purchase was hygiene (4.60). Overall, for the development of bakeries in the Gyeongju area it seems imperative to address the bakery shop environment, including such aspects as hygiene, price, and new bread product development for students.
Survey data from 654 adults (225 males, 429 females) were analyzed based on frequency, percentage, chi-square test, one-way ANOVA; and Duncan's multiple range test. The main results were based on the preference for chungkukjang_(CKJ) products using a 5-point Likert scale. According to the survey, traditional CKJ products received the highest score_(3.64) according to personal preference among all tested products. The responses to eight questions about CKJ products were also measured using a 5-point Likert scale. The question_ as to whether or not "CKJ has anticancer function" received the highest score_(4.24) while the "CKJ is good for hangover" scored the lowest. Regarding the preference for CKJ products, "good for health" (55.3%) and "unpleasant smell" (72.9%) were the most popular answers, Regarding the intention to eat CKJ food products, CKJ tofu was most often selected. Among the 11 items, CKJ tofu, CKJ steak, CKJ hamburger, CKJ ice cream; and CKJ vegetable salad were highly preferred foods. The percentage of respondents that expected "increasing" prospects for CKJ consumption was 55.2%, most likely because 76.9% of the respondents selected "healthy food". This study was performed to investigate the effect of dietary intakes and nutritional status for fatty liver male patients with fatty livers. General characteristics, nutritional knowledge, and dietary intakes were obtained from fatty liver male patients aged 20-60yr living in Seoul and Kyunggi province by individual interview and blood samples. The Results were as follows : the mean age of the subjects was 39yrs. Old and over half the subjects were overweight. Although nutritional knowledge, recognition, and accuracy scores were good, these did not affect the subject's health. The average alcohol intake of subjects was 79.8g/day and the drinking duration was 5-40yrs(average : 17yrs). The subjects drank alcohol over 4tiles/week and preferred Soju. Most side dishes taken with alcohol drinking by the subjects were foods from animal sources. Half of the subjects also drank alcohol the next day for breakfast as a hangover-chaser. The reasons for drinking were due to social relationships and by habit. Vitamin D and folate were lower than the RDA for Koreans, and other nutrient amounts were higher than the RDA. The amounts of aspartate amino-transferase(AST), Alanine amino-transferase(ALT), ${\gamma}$-glutamyl transpeptidase(${\gamma}$-GTP), Triglyceride(TG) for the subjects were higher. In conclusion, fatty liver patients drank excessively and frequently. It seems that heavy alcohol drinking is more prone to overweight or obese people and contributes to fatty livers. Therefore, the subjects need to be taken effectively educated about alcohol-induced liver damage and the importance of a balanced diet for on healthy liver.
This study was undertaken to examine the dietary adaptation in Korea, and utilization of university foodservice (UF), according to the nationality of foreign students. The survey was conducted from April to June in 2017, and included 604 subjects studying in a university in Busan. The questionnaire was designed to examine the adaptability to Korean food and the consumption of UF. The nationalities included students from China (63.4%), Vietnam (13.2%), Central Asia (8.9%), Southeast Asia (5.0%), and others (9.4%). Vietnamese and Southeast Asians showed higher adaptation to Korean food than Chinese or Central Asians. The degree of contribution of UF to diet was highest amongst the Chinese, followed by Vietnamese. The main reason for not consuming UF for the Chinese and Southeast Asians was 'lack of menu variety', and for Central Asians was 'no menu that can be eaten, including due to religious reasons'. In order to improve UF, all groups asked for increased 'variety of menu', and Vietnamese and Southeast Asians also asked for 'decrease in price'. In meat, fish, and vegetable menus, there were significant differences in the types and recipes of foods preferred, as per the nationality. These results indicate that different approaches by considering the national characteristics are required, to help international students adapt to Korean food, and to increase their consumption of UF.
