Digital photographs of 16 pork chops were taken and modified images to give 16 treatments: two levels of each of fat cover, color, marbling and drip. Consumers(n = 1,014) were randomly selected and a questionnaire asking for socio-demographic information was completed. Each consumer was asked to select preferred type from 16 treatments and this selection was repeated eight times. There were significant differences in pork selection among age, sex and occupation groups only except income levels. Pork preference choices were different in meat color, fat cover and drip depending on age group. Student consumers aging from 18 to 24 years preferred pork chop having darker color, thinner fat cover and more drip when compared to the other groups(p < 0.05). Male preferred pork having darker and more drip than female(p < 0.05). Marital status had a effect on the preference in meat color and drip. The consumers had different choice in color, fat cover and drip depending on occupation(p < 0.05). This results can provide a fundamental information for industries or processors to develop or produce pork that satisfy each target consumer group in the future.
Purpose - With the rapid economic development, great changes have happened in the Chinese beer market. The scale of imported beer is increasing. However, the sales of native Chinese beer decrease in recent years. It is because more Chinese customers prefer beer with unique attributes than those with lower prices. In order to take an advantage in this market, practitioners should develop new products to satisfy Chinese customers. Scholars have also focused on beer characteristics to estimate consumers' behavior for improving the development of beer industry. However, most studies are theoretically centered on marketing strategy management or general understanding of the market. It is not enough for us to explain customers' consumption patterns. Some empirical research did attempt to find out beer attributes that may influence their choice behavior. However, they failed to verify what can increase customers' utility through a new product. More importantly, few evidences can be found in the literature. Therefore this study explores the major characteristics of imported beer which may associate with customers' preferences. Research design, data, and methodology - With the results of literature review and focus group interview, we found out four main imported beer attributes and the levels of each factor. A pre-test is constructed to check the problems in the questionnaire protocol. With the results of pre-test, the revised questionnaire is processed among customers who have purchased and had imported beer in China regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong and so on. The choice-based conjoint analysis is applied to analyze the useful data of 205. Results - Results indicate that choice-based conjoint analysis is the effective method to estimate customers' choice behavior. Results also indicate that country of origin, price, taste, and package affect customers' preference and the importances of imported beer attributes are significantly different. Conclusions - Country of origin, price, taste, and package are important for customers to make an imported beer choice decision. Marketers should consider these determinants and their importance to develop new products. Moreover, choice-based conjoint analysis should be the useful method for practitioners to develop a new product of imported beer for sustainable business in the competitive industry.
This paper explores the way and the extent to which drivers' route choice was influenced by uncertain information. In particular, this paper investigates the effect of qualitative information on route choice when drivers face a choice with different degrees of uncertain information. The SP survey was conducted and route choice legit models were estimated. We also applied Prospect Theory to the analysis of drivers' decision making under uncertain information. The main findings are firstly, drivers tend to prefer a route with information than(to) one without information. This indicated that providing charge information encouraged drivers to choose the routes for which information is provided in preference to those for which it is not provided. Secondly, drivers also prefer a route with a certain and precise information over one with uncertain and imprecise information. Thirdly, when the information is given as a range, the size of the range of the information influenced route choice slightly and as the range of the charge increases, the route becomes slightly less unattractive. Fourthly, when the information is given as a range, drivers' route choices are influenced more by the median value of the ranges than by the size of the overall ranges of the information. Application of Prospect Theory to the results explains the way drivers may be interpreting the choice situation and how they make a route choice in response to uncertain information. The results of this paper implicate that drivers' decision making under uncertainty seem to be very complicated and flexible, depending on the way drivers interpret the choice situation. Therefore, it is recommended to apply wider related theories to the analysis of the drivers' behaviour.
The effect of NeemAzal-T/S was tested by leaf disk method on fecundity, egg mortality, and preference of twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae and its predator mite, Amblyseius womersleyi in the laboratory. Mortalities of T. urticae and A. womersleyi adults were 97.7% and 20.0%, in 100ppm treatment at 72 h after application, respectively. The mean number of eggs laid per T. urticae female adult were 0.0 and 18.5, and those of A. womersleyi were 1.6 and 2.9 at 100 ppm and 0 ppm concentrations, respectively. Hatchability of T. urticae eggs treated with 50 and 100 ppm were 52.8%, and 2.5%, respectively, and those of A. womersleyi eggs were 100% and 91.3%, respectively. Choice and no-choice tests revealed that T. urticae female preferred to alight and oviposit on untreated bean leaf disk with 13.8 to 18.2 eggs per female. In contrast, A. womersleyi female preferred on treated or untreated bean leaf equally. There was no significant differences in the number of consumption of T. urticae eggs by A. womersleyi on treated and untreated bean leaves, except 200 ppm. These results indicate that NeemAzal-TIS is highly toxic to T. urticae, and is less toxic to A. womersleyi. It may be concluded with these results that NeemAzal-T/S could be incorporated into integrated T. urticae management system.
The main problem of consumer behavior is choice since the outcome of me of a choice can only be known in the future, consumers are forced to deal with the risks of und\certainty. So, perception of risk is pivotal aspect of consumer behavior. This study was designed to investigate the relationships between purchasing behavior of textile and perceived risk. Data were obtained from 276 housewives. ANOVA, x2-test were employed to analyse the data. The result were : 1. general features of textile purchase behavior are as follows. Blend wools and pure wool products are prefered. Fall is the major season in purchasing textile. Wholesalers, department stores and agent stores are prefered. Purchasing decision making process independent upon not only textile itself but the practice value of the textile. Purchasing textile, married young women depend on outward shape of the textile, middle and old aged groups depend on the economic value of the textile and the credibility of the stores. 2. Perception of risk is relatively high in the preference of store, color/design, and psycological uncertainty. But the perceived risks is relatively low in brand, price and social credibility. 3. There is significant relationship between the recognition rate of risk and the sensitiveness of the consumer. In addition, there are strong relationship between the risk rate and the preference of shop, brand, and price. On the other hand, there are no significant relationship between the color, design, and sociopsyco-logical risk and demographic variables. 4. The perceived risk of consumer would be a key stone to grasp the consumer behavior. The product company needs to provide full information which could reduce the perceived risk of consumer. there attitude would help for the mutual interests. In the future research, we need to develop the precise methods for finding variables on the perceived risk during the process of making purchase intention.
The purposes of this study are to assess pig farmers' preference for highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) vaccine, and estimate the cost and benefit of PRRS vaccination in Vietnam. This study employed an integrated epidemiological and economic analysis which combined susceptible-infectious-recovered (SIR) model, choice experiment (CE) and cost-benefit analysis (CBA) together. The result of SIR model showed the basic reproduction number ($R_0$) of PRRS transmission in this study is 1.3, consequently, the optimal vaccination percentage is 26%. The results of CE in this study indicate that Vietnam pig farmers are showing a high preference for the PRRS vaccine. However, their mean willingness to pay is lower than the potential cost of PRRS vaccine. It can be considered to be one of the reasons that the PRRS vaccination ratio is still low in Vietnam. The results of CBA specified from the whole society's point of view (Social perspective), the benefits of PRRS vaccination are 2.3 to 4.5 times larger than the costs. To support policy making for increasing the PRRS vaccination proportion, this study indicates two ways to increase the vaccination proportion: i) decrease vaccine price by providing a subsidy, ii) provide compensation of culling only for PRRS vaccinated pigs.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an increase in self - determination experience on the behavior of young children with autism spectrum disorder by telepresence robot. As for research method, the study used AB design, two selected children engaged in activities with a telepresence robot in free play time in the morning. The activities were conducted in 19 sessions, twice a week, 15 to 40 minutes each. To investigate the effect of the activity on the child's behavior was observed using the behaviors of free play time and work time in the afternoon. All the process was recorded by a camera and then analyzed by frequency recording. The results of the study are as follows. First, the participation of young children with autism spectrum disorder in free play time increased. Second, choice-making or preference behavior of young children with autistic spectrum disorder were increased. This study suggests that increasing the self-determination experience of young children with autism spectrum disorders using telepresence robots increases their participation and increases their choice-making or preference behavior.
The purpose of this study is to elicit preference for drug listing decision criteria and to estimate the ICER threshold in South Korea using the discrete choice experiment (DCE) method. To collect the data, a DCE survey was administered to a subject sample either educated in the principle concepts of pharmacoeconomics or were decision makers within that field. Subjects chose between alternative drug profiles differing in four attributes: ICER, uncertainty, budget impact and severity of disease. The orthogonal and balanced designs were determined through computer algorithm to take the optimal set of drug profiles. The survey employed 15 hypothetical choice sets. A random effect probit model was used to analyze the relative importance of attributes and the probabilities of a recommendation response. Parameter estimates from the models indicated that three attributes (ICER, Impact, Severity of disease) influenced respondents' choice significantly(p${\pm}$0.001). In addition, each parameter displayed an expected sign. The Lower the ICER, the higher the probability of choosing that alternative. Respondents also preferred low levels of uncertainty and smaller impact on health service budget. They were also more likely to choose drugs for serious diseases rather than mild or moderate ones. Uncertainty however is not statistically significant. The ICER threshold, at which the probability of a recommendation was 0.5, was 29,000,000 KW/QALY in expert group and 46,500,000 KW/QALY in industry group. We also found that those in our sample were willing to accept high ICER to get medication for severe diseases. This study demonstrates that the cost-effectiveness, budget impact and severity of disease are the main reimbursement decision criteria in South Korea, and that DCE can be a useful tool in analyzing the decision making process where a variety of factors are considered and prioritized.

With the aim of promoting the use of metropolitan railways, the present research developed a mode choice model for evaluating its competitiveness against passenger cars. A case study was carried out with Gyeongeui and Joongang line, and the area of interest was the direct operating railway between Ilsan and Guri station where the two lines intersect. The mode choice model was a disaggregate behavior model which used Stated Preference (SP) survey data, and the plot of competition was between private passenger cars and express trains. As a result, the mode choice model was established, and this model was used to analyze characteristics of passengers' time value and elasticity. It was shown that reducing travel time is more efficient than reducing travel cost when it comes to operating express trains in metropolitan railways. Therefore, policies designed for activating the use of metropolitan railways should expand direct operating service of individual lines and run more express trains in order to minimize transfer and in-vehicle time.
Objectives : This study was aimed at exploring career-related characteristics of premedical students in Korean Medicine college and those relationships with career development readiness and vocational value. Methods : A total of 140 premedical students participated in the survey. The questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics and career-related characteristics such as motive for career choice, specialty preference after college graduation, and school life adaptation. Also they responded in the web-survey of career development readiness inventory and vocational value inventory developed by Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training. Eight items of motive for career choice were collected from the pilot study from 70 premedical students. Results : 'Job stability' was the top motive for career choice(25.5%). The average college life adaptation score was relatively low(13.7) : higher in male(14.3) and the early career decision group(14.2) than female (12.9) and late decision group(12.9), which was statistically significant(p=0.019 and p=0.036, respectively) in the subgroup analyses. The result of career development readiness inventory showed that 'self-knowledge' (79.3) and 'confidence on career decision' (78.6) were the two highest, which is similar to the result of the vocational value inventory ('fulfilling abilities' and 'self-improvement'). More characteristics were also described. Conclusions : The results showed that Korean Medicine premedical students have high vocational identity. This study suggested that more specified studies for identifying career-related characteristics for Korean Medical students should be conducted in order to design systematic and professional medical education programs.
