Steam reforming of LPG was investigated over spc-Ni/MgAl catalyst in a temperature range of $600{\sim}850^{\circ}C$, feed molar ratio of $H_2O/C=1.0{\sim}3.0$, space velocity of $10,000{\sim}90,000h^{-1}$ and at atmospheric pressure. spc-Ni/MgAl catalyst was prepared by a co-precipitation method, whereas Ni/MgO and $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalysts were prepared by an incipient wetness method. The characteristics of catalysts were analyzed by N2 Physisorption, CO chemisorption, XRD, TOF-SIMS, SEM and TEM techniques. The Ni/MgO and $Ni/Al_2O_3$ catalysts were deactivated by the formation of carbon. However, the spc-Ni/MgAl catalyst showed higher conversion and $H_2$ selectivity than the other catalysts, even though carbon was formed on the surface of the catalyst during the reaction under the tested reaction conditions.

The objective of this study is to efficiently recover phosphorus contained in sewage sludge by a struvite-forming method. The performances were evaluated under various operating conditions(elution with the kind of acid, Mg-compound and temperature) in order to reach the optimum conditions of struvite-forming. As a result, as an elution solution, the elution efficiency of $H_2SO_4$ was 2.65 times higher than that of HCl. Also, the precipitation efficiency of struvite was the highest (97.4%) in case of using $MgCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ as Mg-compounds at $25^{\circ}C$. However, the side reaction by Fe, Al and Zn appeared in process of phosphorus recovery. To solve some problems caused by side reacton, large quantities of co-precipitation materials produced by side reaction were removed by precipitating phosphorus compounds in pH 7. Consequently, the recovery efficiency of phosphorus by a struviteforming method was 82.99%, and purity of the recovered struvite product was high.

The spinel $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized using 0.2 $M-FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_{2}O$ and 0.5 M-NaOH by oxidation in air and the spinel $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders were synthesized at 480 $^{\circ}C$ for 12 h in air by a sol-gel method using manganese acetate and lithium hydroxide as starting materials. The synthesized $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders were mixed at portion of 5, 10, 15 and 20 wt% of $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders using a ball-mill. The mixed catalysts were dried at room temperature for 24 hrs. The mixed catalysts were reduced by hydrogen gas at 350 $^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The carbon dioxide decomposition rates of the mixed catalysts were 90% in all the mixed catalysts but the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide was increased with adding $LiMn_{2}O_{4}$ powders to $Fe_{3}O_{4}$ powders.

The fired Precursor (Y,Gd,Eu)(OH)$CO_3$.$H_2O$$900^{\circ}C$ was used to synthesize the red phosphor $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu for plasma display panel. Rounded and ~l $\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter phosphor $(Y,Gd)_2O_3$: Eu can be obtained by the reaction of aformentioned powder with a small amount addition of flux at $1350^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Emission spectra of these phosphors were measured under excitation wavelength at 254 nm and 147 nm and the optimum concentrations of activator ion were determined at around 15 mo1e % and 10 mole % under these conditions, respectively. $BaCO_3$flux had the best property in emission intensity among the prepared $BaCO_3AlF_3$and $Li_3PO_4$phosphors. The properties of optimized sample were improved in terms of relative luminance and color coordinate comparing with commercial phosphor such as $Y_2O_3$: Eu.

To investigate the effects of Mg addition at different aging times and temperatures, Cu/MgO/Al2O3 catalysts were synthesized for the low-temperature water gas shift (LT-WGS) reaction. The co-precipitation method was employed to prepare the catalysts with a fixed Cu amount of 30 mol% and varied amounts of Mg/Al. Synthesized catalysts were characterized using XRD, BET, and H2-TPR analysis. Among the prepared catalysts, the highest CO conversion was achieved by the Cu/MgO/Al2O3 catalyst (30/40/30 mol%) with a 60 ℃ aging temperature and a 24 h aging time under a CO2-rich feed gas. Due to it having the lowest reduction temperature and a good dispersion of CuO, the catalyst exhibited around 65% CO conversion with a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 14,089 h-1 at 300 ℃. However, it has been noted that aging temperatures greater or less than 60 ℃ and aging times longer than 24 h had an adverse impact, resulting in a lower surface area and a higher reduction temperature bulk-CuO phase, leading to lower catalytic activity. The main findings of this study confirmed that one of the main factors determining catalytic activity is the ease of reducibility in the absence of bulk-like CuO species. Finally, the long-term test revealed that the catalytic activity and stability remained constant under a high concentration of CO2 in the feed gas for 19 h with an average CO conversion of 61.83%.
The $SO_2$ reduction using CO and $H_2$ over Sn-Zr based catalysts was performed in this study. Sn-Zr based catalysts with Sn/Zr molar ratio (0/1, 1/4, 1/1, 2/1, 3/1, 1/0) were prepared by the precipitation and co-precipitation method. The effect of the temperature on the reaction characteristics of the $SO_2$ reduction with a reducing agent such as $H_2$ and CO was investigated under the conditions of space velocity of $10,000ml/g_{-cat.}h$, $([CO(or\;H_2)]/[SO_2])$ of 2.0. As a result, the activity of Sn-Zr based catalysts were higher than $SnO_2$ and $ZrO_2$. The reactivity for the $SO_2$ reduction with CO was higher than that with $H_2$, and sulfur yield in the $SO_2$ reduction by $H_2$ was higher than that by CO. The reactivity for the $SO_2$ reduction with $H_2$ was increased with the reaction temperature regardless of Sn-Zr based catalyst with a Sn/Zr molar ratio. $SnO_2-ZrO_2$ (Sn/Zr=1/4) had highest activity at $550^{\circ}C$, in the $SO_2$ reduction with $H_2$ and $SO_2$ conversion of 94.4% and sulfur yield of 66.4% were obtained at $550^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, in the $SO_2$ reduction by CO, the reactivity was decreased with the increase over $325^{\circ}C$. At the optimal temperature of $325^{\circ}C$, $SO_2$ conversion and sulfur yield were about 100% and 99.5%, respectively, in the $SO_2$ reduction over $SnO_2-ZrO_2$ (Sn/Zr=3/1). Also, the $SO_2$ reduction using syngas with $CO/H_2$ ratio over $SnO_2-ZrO_2$ (Sn/Zr=2/1) was performed in order to investigate the application possibility of the simulated coal gas as the reductant in DSRP. As a result, the reactivity of the $SO_2$ reduction using syngas with $CO/H_2$ ratio was increased with increasing the CO content of syngas. Therefore, it could be known that DSRP using the simulated coal gas over Sn-Zr based catalyst is possible to be realized in IGCC system

Si-substituted biphasic calcium phosphates (Si-BCP) were prepared by co-precipitation method. X-ray diffraction and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure of Si-BCP powders. The Si-BCP powders with various Ca/(P+Si) molar ratio were carried out on structural change of hydroxyapatite (HAp) and ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate ($\ss$-TCP). The in-vitro bioactivity of the Si-BCP powders was determined by immersing the powders in SBF solution, after that observing the chemical composition and morphology change by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscopy.

The xAl-yCe oxide catalysts with different mol ratios of Al/(Al+Ce) were prepared by a co-precipitation method and Pt supported on xAl-yCe oxide catalysts were synthesized by an incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption, and $H_2$/CO-temperature programmed reduction ($H_2$/CO-TPR) to correlate with catalytic activities in co oxidation. Among the catalysts studied here, Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest activity in dry and wet reaction conditions and the catalytic activity showed a typical volcano-shape curve with respect to Al/(Al+Ce) mol ratio. When the presence of 5% water vapor in the feed, the temperature of $T_{50%}$ was shifted ca. $30^{\circ}C$ to lower temperature region than that in dry condition. From CO-TPR, the desorption peak of $CO_2$ on Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest value and well correlated the catalytic performance. It indicates that the Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst has a large amount of active sites which can be adsorbed by co and easy to supplies the needed oxygen. In addition, the amount of pentacoordinated $Al^{3+}$ sites obtained through $^{27}Al$ NMR analysis is well correlated the catalytic performance.
For the homogeneous dispersion of $ZrO_2$ particles in $Al_2O_3/ZrO_2$ceramics, Zr-precusors were mixed with oxide $Al_2O_3$powders by chemical routes such as partial precipitation or partial polymerization of Zr-nitrate solutions. In case of the mechanical mixing of ultrafine $Al_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$ oxide powders, relatively homogeneous dispersion was difficult to achieve so that the particle size and distributions of $ZrO_2$ were relatively inhomogeneous after sintering at high temperature. But when the Zr-Y-hydroxide were co-precipitated to ultrafine $Al_2O_3$ oxide powders followed by calcinations, homogeneous dispersion of nano-sized $ZrO_2$ particles in $Al_2O_3/ZrO_2$ composite ceramics were obtained. But because of the coalescence of dispersed $ZrO_2$ particles, dispersed $ZrO_2$ was grown up to more than 0.2${mu}m$ (200 nm) when sintered at the temperature of higher than $1500^{\circ}C$ But when the sintering temperature was kept to lower than $1400^{\circ}C$ by using nano-sized $\alpha-alumina$, the particle size of dispersed $ZrO_2$ could be sustained below 0.1 ${\mu}m$. But the coalescence of dispersed $ZrO_2$ between $Al_2O_3$ particles could not be avoided so that the mechanical properties were not enhanced contrary to the expectations. So Zr-polyester precursors were precipitated and coated to the surface of ultrafine $\alpha-alumina$ powders by the polymerization of Ethylene Glycol with Citric Acid and Zirconium Nitrate. By this dispersion much more uniform dispersion of $ZrO_2$ was achieved at $1450\~1600^{\circ}C$ of sintering temperature ranges. And due to especially discrete dispersion of $ZrO_2$ between $Al_2O_3$ particles, their mechanical strength was more enhanced than mechanical mixing or hydroxide precipitation methods.

[ $MnO_2$ ]catalysts were prepared by precipitation method using potassium manganate and manganese acetate. The effect of calcination temperatures of $MnO_2$ catalysts for CO oxidation has been studied and their physicochemical properties were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption, temperature programmed reduction of $H_2$ ($H_2-TPR$), and temperature programmed desorption of CO (CO-TPD) techniques. $MnO_2$ calcined at $300^{\circ}C$ catalyst has a large surface area $181m^2/g$ having a narrow pore size distribution at 9 nm. The results of XRD and $H_2-TPR$ showed that the catalysts calcined at different temperatures showed mixed oxidation states of Mn such as $Mn^{4+}$ and $Mn^{3+}$. CO-TPD showed that the quantity of $CO_2$ desorbed was decreased with increasing the calcination temperatures. The catalytic activity over the catalyst calcined at $300^{\circ}C$ exhibited the highest conversion reaching to 100% at $200^{\circ}C$. $H_2O$ vapor showed an inhibiting effect on the efficiency of the catalyst because of co-adsorption with CO on the active sites of manganese oxide catalysts and the initial catalytic activity of CO oxidation could be regenerated by removing $H_2O$ vapor in the reactants.
