  • In this paper, we propose an OFDM system with a pre-equalizer which pre-distorting a transmission signal to compensate for the degradation of the system by the intersymbol interference and multi-path fading at the high-speed multimedia communications. We model an OFDM system by using C language, a simulation was performed. As a result, there was a performance of BER is about 7dB at $10^{-3}$, improved to $10^{-4}$ on the MMSE property also $10^{-3}$.

  • This study is about implementing wireless transferring system in pre-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR). Also, this study includes monitoring based feedback between patient and hospital to increase the survival rate of emergency patient by developing the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pre-hospital. It minimizes the loss of flow rate or gastric inflation through the space between the airway and the esophagus, which enables the inspiration-expiration rate to be measured more precisely. Due to these reasons this study applied ET insertion based respiratory sensor to measure flow rate. The main indices of artificial ventilation are justified from minute respiration(V), end-tidal $CO_2(E_TCO_2)$, and tracheal pressure($P_{tr}$). The simulation is performed to verify the bandwidth and delay time of transport network for in-hospital monitoring even as transporting images and voice information simultaneously. The total bandwidth is 815 kbps, and WLAN (IEEE 802.11x) is used as communication protocol. The network load is under 1.5% and the transmit delay time is measured under 0.3 seconds.

  • Purpose: For a single time-point hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (MRSI) of animal models, scan-time window after injecting substrates is critical in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of downstream metabolites. Pre-scans of time-resolved magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can be performed to determine the scan-time window. In this study, based on two-site exchange model, protocol-specific simulation approaches were developed for $^{13}C$ MRSI and the optimal scan-time window was determined to maximize the SNR of downstream metabolites. Materials and Methods: The arterial input function and conversion rate constant from injected substrates (pyruvate) to downstream metabolite (lactate) were precalibrated, based on pre-scans of time-resolved MRS. MRSI was simulated using two-site exchange model with considerations of scan parameters of MRSI. Optimal scan-time window for mapping lactate was chosen from simulated lactate intensity maps. The performance was validated by multiple in vivo experiments of BALB/C nude mice with MDA-MB-231 breast tumor cells. As a comparison, MRSI were performed with other scan-time windows simply chosen from the lactate signal intensities of pre-scan time-resolved MRS. Results: The optimal scan timing for our animal models was determined by simulation, and was found to be 15 s after injection of the pyruvate. Compared to the simple approach, we observed that the lactate peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) was increased by 230%. Conclusion: Optimal scan timing to measure downstream metabolites using hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ MRSI can be determined by the proposed protocol-specific simulation approaches.

  • Pre-emphasizing the speech compensates for falloff at high frequencies. The most common form of pre-emphasis is y(n)=s(n)-A${\cdot}$s(n-1), where A typically lies between 0.9 and 1.0 in voiced signal. And, this value reflects the degree of pre-emphasis and equals R(1)/R(0) in conventional method. This paper proposes a new flattening method to compensate the weaked high frequency components that occur by vocal cord characteristic. We used QMF(Quardrature Mirror Filter) to minimize the output signal distortion. After using the QMF to compensate high frequency components, flattening process is followed by R(1)/R(0) at each frame. Experimental results show that the proposed method flattened the weaked high frequency components effectively than auto correlation method. Therefore, the flattening algorithm will apply in speech signal processing like speech recognition, speech analysis and synthesis.

  • This paper describes realized APC and pre-equalizer circuit, and their operation principle and test results. In analog optical transmitter, constant lasing power control, free of signal clipping and linearity are important considerations. We examined pre-equalizer and APC(Automatic Power Control) circuit to improve the analog optical transmitter performance.

  • The mating type a of yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant with hmla2-102 and sir3-8ts was changed to type alpha by changing the growth temperature from 25C to 35C. A temperature-sensitive expression vector system was constructed using mating factor alpha1 (Mfalpha1) gene encoding alpha factor which is expressed in the type alpha cells. Vectors with different copy numbers were constructed by joining the promoter and pre or prepro-secretion single sequence of Mfalpha1 to promoterless PHO5' gene as a reporter gene.

  • In this paper, Coordinated Semi-Actuated Signal Control algorithm was developed and evaluated. According to the analysis of simulation, the coordinated semi-actuated signal control led to reduced vehicle delay as the difference of traffic volume between major and minor streets was getting bigger. But when there was relatively high traffic volume, or the equivalent amount of traffic volume on major and minor streets, optimized pre-timed signal control was verified to lower delay times compared to coordinated semi-actuated signal control; however, it might increase pedestrian delay. Therefore, the coordinated semi-actuated signal control should be implemented at intersections where traffic volume is relatively low.

  • In-vehicle route guidance information(RGI) systems have been developed with the advancement of the information and communication technologies. However, the RGI is provided by a pre-determined option, drivers occasionally pass the target intersection owing to non- or late- recognizing it. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the position of driver's tum signal operation and intersection recognition approaching at the target intersection which is difficult to identify as a preliminary research on developing the additional RGI connecting with the tum signal control. The field experiment was conducted to measure distances of the turn signal operation and intersection recognition from the target intersection according to driving lanes and landmarks at adjacent intersection. And, glance behavior to the car navigation display was evaluated by using an eye camera. The results indicate that drivers operate the turn signal after confirming a landmark in the case of the intersection with it. However, most case of driving, drivers operate the tum signal at 40 to 50m before coming to the target. To provide the additional RGI, when drivers do not operate the tum signal approaching at the target intersection based on the results, is expected to improve the traffic safety and the comfort for drivers.

  • A particular optical receiver has its own optical receiver modes (ORMs) determined by its optical and electrical filters. Superposing the ORM waveforms at the transmitter, we can generate a new type of optical signals, called ORM signals. After optical detection, they produce pre-specified voltage waveforms accurately, which is advantageous for digital signal processing. Assuming a Gaussian optical receiver, where the optical and electrical filters are Gaussian, we illustrate various phase-shift keying ORM signals using two ORMs by changing their relative phase. We also illustrate multi-level ORM signal patterns using two or more ORMs.

  • This research presents the parallel control scheme of PID servo-driver for shaping of the curved glass. The designed system consists of a PC, main controller and 11 servo-drivers. Each elements are connected by using RS-232C and 8-bit bus communication. In order to guarantee the stability and the control performance, we use the LM629, a precision PID motion controller, and LMD18200, a H-bridge on the servo-drivers. PC calculates position values of 11 DC motors by using the pre-determined curvature value and offers the user interface environment operator.
