Settlement Data Acquisition and Analysis Technique by Personal Computer (Personal Computer를 이용한 침하 안정 관리기법)

  • Accurate prediction of future settlement is essential for the settlement control of soft soil by pre-loading method. To predict future settlement in clayey soft soils, several methods like Asaoka method, Hyperbolic Method and Hoshino method are currently being used. These methods predict the future sett1ement by mathmatical treatment of the measured settlement data on the basis of consolidtion theory and empiricism. But the correlation coefficient between the measured and the predicted settlement was relatively low (0.8~0.9). Also, the prediction of future settlemet for the design load is very difficult. In this article, the measured field settlement data was treated as the the field consolidation test. Hence, condolidation coefficient(Cv) and compression index(Cc) was evaluated from the field settlement data. Cv and Cc values from field data was used to calculate the degree of consolidation and settlement at desired time. By this method, the correlation coefficent between the measured and the predicted settlement was significantly increased(0.97~0.99). Also the settlement by the design load after the improvement of soft soil could be predicted reasonably. This method is quite rational and sound but it requires thousands of calculation steps. Today, by the aid of low priced personal computers above mentioned technique could be used much acre economically and effectively than conventional methods. This article presented the mechanisms and capacities of this method and demonstrated the enhanced correlation coefficient when applied to actual field settlement data.

Software Development of the Traffic Noise Prediction Based on the Frictional Interaction between Pavement Surface and Tire (포장노면과 타이어간의 마찰음 분석을 통한 교통소음예측 소프트웨어 개발)

  • Domestic economic development, industrialization, and urbanization have brought along not only increased highway traffic but also elevated traffic noise levels. Thus, it is necessary to accurately predict the traffic noise levels in order to address the public demand of alleviating the noise levels in urban areas. In this study, the method of evaluating the sound power level of road traffic was investigated in terms of considering the types of road surface and vehicle, based on previous researches. Regarding CPX (Close Proximity Test) and Pass-by test, the measured noise data of Test Road of Korea Highway Corporation were utilized in order to construct the database of sound power levels of various vehicles. Specifically, the 38 noise measurement and analysis in 1/1-octave band frequencies at 12 pre-selected sites were carried out, considering topography and road surface. Finally, the comparison study was conducted between predicted and measured data in terms of traffic noise. The traffic noise prediction was based on the KRON (Korea Road Noise) program, which was developed being equipped wit 3-dimensional GUI. In addition, the traffic noise characteristics were evaluated in terms of vehicle types and pavement surface conditions.

Adaptive Quantization for Transform Domain Wyner-Ziv Residual Coding of Video (변환 영역 Wyner-Ziv 잔차 신호 부호화를 위한 적응적 양자화)

  • Since prediction processes such as motion estimation motion compensation are not at the WZ video encoder but at its decoder, WZ video compression cannot have better performance than that of conventional video encoder. In order to implement the prediction process with low complexity at the encoder, WZ residual coding was proposed. Instead of original WZ frames, WZ residual coding encodes the residual signal between key frames and WZ frames. Although the proposed WZ residual coding has good performance in pixel domain, it does not have any improvements in transform domain compared to transform domain WZ coding. The WZ residual coding in transform domain is difficult to have better performance, because pre-defined quantization matrices in WZ coding are not compatible with WZ residual coding. In this paper, we propose a new quantization method modifying quantization matrix and quantization step size adaptively for transform domain WZ residual coding. Experimental result shows 22% gain in BDBR and 1.2dB gain in BDPSNR.

A Study on the Prediction System of Block Matching Rework Time (블록 정합 재작업 시수 예측 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In order to evaluate the precision degree of the blocks on the dock, the shipyards recently started to use the point cloud approaches using the 3D scanners. However, they hesitate to use it due to the limited time, cost, and elaborative effects for the post-works. Although it is somewhat traditional instead, they have still used the electro-optical wave devices which have a characteristic of having less dense point set (usually 1 point per meter) around the contact section of two blocks. This paper tried to expand the usage of point sets. Our approach can estimate the rework time to weld between the Pre-Erected(PE) Block and Erected(ER) block as well as the precision of block construction. In detail, two algorithms were applied to increase the efficiency of estimation process. The first one is K-mean clustering algorithm which is used to separate only the related contact point set from others not related with welding sections. The second one is the Concave hull algorithm which also separates the inner point of the contact section used for the delayed outfitting and stiffeners section, and constructs the concave outline of contact section as the primary objects to estimate the rework time of welding. The main purpose of this paper is that the rework cost for welding is able to be obtained easily and precisely with the defective point set. The point set on the blocks' outline are challenging to get the approximated mathematical curves, owing to the lots of orthogonal parts and lack of number of point. To solve this problems we compared the Radial based function-Multi-Layer(RBF-ML) and Akima interpolation method. Collecting the proposed methods, the paper suggested the noble point matching method for minimizing the rework time of block-welding on the dock, differently the previous approach which had paid the attention of only the degree of accuracy.

Fire Resistance Performance of High Strength Concrete with 4 Deformation Factors (4변형 인자에 의한 고강도콘크리트의 내화성능 평가)

  • A numerical model considering the internal vaporization and the creep effect, in the form of a analytical program, for tracing the behavior of high strength concrete(HSC) members exposed to fire is presented. The two stages, i.e., spalling procedure and fire resistance time, associated with the thermal, moisture flow, creep and structural analysis, for the prediction of fire resistance behavior are explained. The use of the analytical program for tracing the response of HSC member from the initial pre-loading stage to collapse, due to fire, is demonstrated. Moisture evaporates, when concrete is exposed to fire, not only at concrete surface but also at inside the concrete to adjust the equilibrium and transfer properties of moisture. Finite element method is employed to facilitate the moisture diffusion analysis for any position of member, so that the prediction method of the moisture distribution inside the concrete members at fire is developed. The validity of the numerical model used in this program is established by comparing the predictions from this program with results from others fire resistance tests. The analytical program can be used to predict the fire resistance of HSC members for any value of the significant parameters, such as load, sectional dimensions, member length, and concrete strength.

An Empirical Study on the Economical Competition Factors of Internet Retailers (인터넷 소매상의 경제적 경쟁요인에 관한 실증연구)

  • 고석하 등(2002)은 인터넷 소매상이 상품 품목의 명목 가격과 배송료를 이용해서 고객의 일회 총 구매 비용을 조절한다는 것을 밝혔다. 고석하 등(2002)은 같은 내용의 상품 조합을 인터넷 시장에서 구매하기 위한 비용과 전통 시장에서 구매하기 위한 비용을 비교하였다. 분석 결과, 그 교호작용과 함께, 상품 종류와 일회 구매액/가격의 크기의 두 요소가 인터넷 시장의 전통 시장에 대한 총 구매비용 할인율의 변동의 약 60%내지 80%를 설명할 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다. 한편, 구매액/가격은 인터넷 시장에서의 해당 산포도(전통 시장의 그것에 대비한)에는 거의 영향을 미치지 못하며, 상품의 종류도 산포도에는 할인율에서와 같이 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 인터넷 시장의 가격이나 구매비용 산포도는 상품 특성이나 구매액 크기 이외의 다른 요인에 의해서 주로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 가격 요인 이외의 경제적 경쟁요인에 관한 실증연구로서, 2002년 6월 17일부터 20일까지, 소프트웨어, PC와 주변기기, 휴대폰, 가전제품, CD, 화장품, 그리고 책의 7가지 산업 전문 쇼핑몰과 종합 쇼핑몰을 대상으로, 인터넷 시장에서 수행되고 있는 경제적인 비 가격 경쟁요인에 관한 실증 조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과, 인터넷 시장에서 수행되고 있는 경제적인 비 가격 경쟁요인은 매우 다양하며, 상품별로도 다른 특성을 보이고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 인터넷 소매상의 경제적인 비 가격 경쟁요인은 크게 배송료 면제와 배송료 외 인센티브 제도로 구분된다 본 논문에서는 경제적인 비 가격 경쟁요인의 모든 경우의 수를 고려할 수 있도록, 코드표를 작성하여 정리하고 분석하였다.전체 분석정보의 공유가 필수적으로 발생하게 됨으로, 유전체 정보와 임상정보의 통합은 미래 의료환경에 필수기능이 될 것이다. 3) 각 생명공학 연구소에서 사용하는 첨단 분석 장비와 생명공학 정보시스템의 자동 연계가 필요하다. 현재 국내에는 전국적인 초고속정보망이 가동되어 웹을 기반으로 하는 생명정보의 공유는 기술적으로 문제가 될 수 없으나 임상정보의 유전체연구에 그리고 유전체연구정보의 임상활용은 다양한 문제를 내포하고 있다. 이에 영상을 포함한 환자정보의 유전체연구센터와 병원정보시스템과의 효율적인 연계통합 운영을 위해 국내에서는 초기 도입단계에 있는 국제적인 보건의료정보의 표준인 Health Level 7 (textural information 공유), DICOM (image 및 wave 공유), 관련 ISO표준, WHO의 ICD9/10 (질병분류), LOINC (검사 및 관련용어), SNOMED International (의학용어) 등을 활용하여야 한다.matrix. The Effects of Negative Pressure and Drain Spacing in the Horizontal Method for an Early Settlement of Dredged and Filled Grounds (해안준설매립토의 조기안정을 위한 수평배수공법에서 부압과 배수재 배치간격의 영향)

  • In this paper, the laboratory test results with middle-sired ,soil box test in modeling the in-situ installing of horizontal drains are discussed the estimation of the optimum negative pressure. The test was carried out in the different vacuum pressure conditions together with the measurement for the settlement and volume change of drained water by the installed drains during the consolidation process. After the test, the water content was measured to both directions of lateral distance from the drain and depth of the soil, to find out the distribution of ground improvement and strength enhancement. From the analysis on the distribution of water content, the gradual application of vacuum pressure to higher level by pre-determined stages starting from low vacuum pressure is found to be effective and desirable. In the comparison of the degrees of consolidation with elapsed time, the calculated value by the prediction method based on the Barren's conventional theory showed a good agreement with the measured value. With this, It is positively considered that the applicability of the prediction method based on Barren's theory to the practical design of horizontal drains can be justified such as in the calculation of drain spacing and consolidation period.

Molecular Holographic QSAR Model on the Herbicidal Activities of New Novel 2-(4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy)-N-phenylpropionamide Derivatives and Prediction of Higher Activity Compounds (새로운 2-(4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy)-N-phenyl-propionamide 유도체들의 제초활성에 관한 HQSAR 모델과 높은 활성 화합물의 예측)

  • The herbicidal activities against pre-emergence barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) by a series of new 2-(4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy)-N-phenylpopionamide derivatives as substrate molecule were studied using molecular holographic (H) quantitative structure activity relationships (HQSAR) methodology. From the based on the findings, the higher herbicidal active compounds are predicted by the derived HQSAR model. The best HQSAR model (VI-1) was derived from fragment distinction combination of atoms/bonds in fragment size, $7{\sim}10$bin. The herbicidal activities from atomic contribution maps showed that the activity will be able to increased according to the R-substituents variation of the N-phenyl ring and change of 6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy group. Based on the results, the statistical results of the best HQSAR model (VI-1) exhibited the best pedictability and fitness for the herbicidal activities based on the cross-validated value ($q^2=0.646$) and non cross-validated value ($r^2_{ncv.}=0.917$), respectively. From the graphical analyses of atomic contribution maps, it was revealed that the lowest herbicidal activitics depends upon the 4-(6-chloro-2-benzoxazolyloxy)phenoxy group ($pred.pI_{50}=-3.20$). Particularly, the R=4-fluoro, X=isobutoxy substituent (P2) of (X)-phenoxy-N-(R)-phenylpropionamide derivative is predicted as the highest active compound ($pred.pI_{50}=9.12$).

Evaluation of Operational Options of Wastewater Treatment Using EQPS Models (EQPS 모델을 이용한 하수처리장 운전 평가)

  • EQPS (Effluent Quality Prediction System, Dynamita, France) was applied to analyze the appropriateness of the design of a bioreactor in A sewage treatment plant. A sewage treatment plant was designed by setting the design concentration of the secondary clarifier effluent to total nitrogen and total phosphorus, 10 mg/L and 1.8 mg/L, respectively, in order to comply with the target water quality at the level of the hydrophilic water. The retention time of the 4-stage BNR reactor was 9.6 hours, which was 0.5 for the pre-anoxic tank, 1.0 for the anaerobic tank, 2.9 for the anoxic tank, and 5.2 hours for the aerobic tank. As a result of the modeling of the winter season, the retention time of the anaerobic tank was increased by 0.2 hours in order to satisfy the target water quality of the hydrophilic water level. The default coefficients of the one step nitrification denitrification model proposed by the software manufacturer were used to exclude distortion of the modeling results. Since the process modeling generally presents optimal conditions, the retention time of the 4-stage BNR should be increased to 9.8 hours considering the bioreactor margin. The accurate use of process modeling in the design stage of the sewage treatment plant is a way to ensure the stability of the treatment performance and efficiency after construction of the sewage treatment plant.

Seismic Zonation on Site Responses in Daejeon by Building Geotechnical Information System Based on Spatial GIS Framework (공간 GIS 기반의 지반 정보 시스템 구축을 통한 대전 지역의 부지 응답에 따른 지진재해 구역화)

  • Most of earthquake-induced geotechnical hazards have been caused by the site effects relating to the amplification of ground motion, which is strongly influenced by the local geologic conditions such as soil thickness or bedrock depth and soil stiffness. In this study, an integrated GIS-based information system for geotechnical data, called geotechnical information system (GTIS), was constructed to establish a regional counterplan against earthquake-induced hazards at an urban area of Daejeon, which is represented as a hub of research and development in Korea. To build the GTIS for the area concerned, pre-existing geotechnical data collections were performed across the extended area including the study area and site visits were additionally carried out to acquire surface geo-knowledge data. For practical application of the GTIS used to estimate the site effects at the area concerned, seismic zoning map of the site period was created and presented as regional synthetic strategy for earthquake-induced hazards prediction. In addition, seismic zonation for site classification according to the spatial distribution of the site period was also performed to determine the site amplification coefficients for seismic design and seismic performance evaluation at any site in the study area. Based on this case study on seismic zonations in Daejeon, it was verified that the GIS-based GTIS was very useful for the regional prediction of seismic hazards and also the decision support for seismic hazard mitigation.
