  • Submarine optical fiber cable construction consists of marine survey, PLGR(Pre Lay Grapnel Run), shore-end-work, laying order. PLGR is the work process which removes the oceanic contaminations(ropes, wires, nets etc.) in the route before laying the submarine optical cable. This PLGR is work to ease the cable lay safely in seabed, improve the performance of Plough and ROV((Remotely-Operated Vehicle) laying work, and protect laying equipment. This paper presents the optimization algorithm implementation of KP(Kilometer Post) and XTE(Cross Track Error) to manage marine survey and PLGR work efficiently. In this paper, we composes overall PLGR work, and proposed optimization algorithm of KP and XTE. For the validity evaluation of this paper, KP and XTE decision algorithm are implemented and tested.

  • A general purpose program NUFLEX for the analysis 3-D thermo/fluid flow and pre/post processor in complex geometry has been developed, which consists of a flow solver based on FVM and GUI based pre/post processor. The solver employs a general non-orthogonal grid system with structured grid and solves laminar and turbulent flows with standard/RNG $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. In addition, NUFLEX is incorporated with various physical models, such as interfacial tracking, cavitation, MHD, melting/solidification and spray models. For the purpose of evaluation of the program and testing the applicability, many actual problems are solved and compared with the available data. Comparison of the results with that by STAR-CD or FLUENT program has been also made for the same flow configuration and grid structure to test the validity of NUFLEX.

  • This paper presents the seismic evaluation and prediction of a damaged piloti-type Reinforced Concrete (RC) building before and after post-retrofitting under successive earthquakes. For considering realistic successive earthquakes, the past records measured at the same station were combined. In this study, the damaged RC building due to the first earthquake was retrofitted with a buckling-restrained brace (BRB) before the second earthquake occurred. Nonlinear Time History Analysis (NTHA) was performed under the scaled intensity of the successive ground motions. Based on the extensive structural response data obtained form from the NTHA, the fragility relationships between the ground shaking intensity and the probability of reaching a pre-determined limit state was were derived. In addition, The the fragility curves of the pre-damaged building without and with the BRBs were employed to evaluate the effect of the successive earthquakes and the post-retrofit effect. Through the seismic assessment subjected to the successive records, it was observed that the seismic performance of the pre-damaged building was significantly affected by the severity of the damage from the first earthquake damages and the hysteresis behavior of the retrofit element.

  • In the present study, we investigated ability of recognition of auditory perception with regards to the quality of voice in postlingual CI adults and proposed a training program to improve within subject reliability. A prospective case-control study was conducted in adults with 7 postlingual deaf who received a CI surgery and 10 normal hearing controls. The pre and post test and training program included parameters of consensus auditory-perceptual evaluation of voice(CAPE-V) with pathological voice sample by using Alvin. In results of pre-post test for monitoring improvements of internal reliability for listeners via the training program, there was statistically significant difference in both test and group. There was statistically significant difference in internal reliability between pre-post test in the normal hearing group, the result was no significant in the CI group. The present study found that CI adults showed less ability in awareness of voice quality compared to normal hearing group. Also the training program improved pitch and loudness in CI adults.
