In this paper, two pre-filtering techniques are presented for accurately estimating the impact location of a loose part. The reason why a pre-filterng technique Is necessary in a Loose Part Monitoring System is that the effects of background noise on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) can be reduced considerably resulting in improved estimation accuracy. The first method is to take d moving average operation in the time domain. The second one is to adopt band-pass filters designed in the frequency domain such as a Butterworth filter, Chebyshev filter I & II and an Elliptic Filter. To show the effectiveness, the impact test data (signals) from the YGN3 power plant are first preprocessed and then used to estimate the loose pan impact position. Resultantly. we observed that SNR is much improved and the average estimation error is below 7.5%.

The purpose of this study was to suggest a case study and anlaysis of the visual impact in dam construction through visual impact assessment method in Dong-sang river. The results can be summarized as follows; 1) For the evaluation of the visual impact of dam construction, five steps such as field analysis of visual status, finding visual sensitivity area and visual control point, making visual simulation material and evaluation, and visual impact analysis and assessment were suggested as desirable. 2) In the case study, the visual impact of dam construction was evaluated to be simple, unique, modern, static, cool and unfamiliar. 3) There was a few difference between the pre-construction and post-construction in statistical test. Especially, The dam in Man-Jee area was evaluated to be artificial, unique and destroyed in statistical difference, and then we design dam structure with visual friendliness. 4) In conclusion, there was high correlation between pre-construction landscape and post-construction landscape through semantic differential scale method using eleven adjectives. Therefore, we state that there is no visual impact for the dam construction for the moment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the library tour program on pre-librarians' perception as librarians, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in library tour are surveyed before and after library tour program. The results revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to have the educational effects that establish the per-librarians' attitudes toward positive librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the educational effects of library tour program to pre-librarians.
PURPOSES : This study aimed to analyze the impact the operation of pre-signals at 4-leg signalized intersections and present primary environmental factors of roads that need to be considered in the installation of pre-signals. METHODS : Shift of proportions safety effectiveness evaluation method which assesses shifts in proportions of target collision types to determine safety effectiveness was applied to analyze traffic crash by types. Also, Empirical Bayes before/after safety effectiveness evaluation method was adapted to analyze the impact pre-signal installation. Negative binomial regression was conducted to determine SPF(safety performance function). RESULTS : Pre-signals are effective in reducing the number of head on, right angle and sideswipe collisions and both the total number of personal injury crashes and severe crashes. Also, it is deemed that each factor used as an independent variable for the SPF model has strong correlation with the total number of personal injury crashes and severe crashes, and impacts general traffic crashes as a whole. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests the following should be considered in pre-signal installation on intersections. 1) U-turns allowed in the front and rear 2) A high number of roads that connect to the intersection 3) Many right-turn traffic flows 4) Crosswalks installed in the front and rear 5) Insufficient left-turn lanes compared to left-turn traffic flows or no left-turn-only lane.

The traffic accident is the prerequisite of the traffic accident reconstruction. In this study, the traffic accident (forward collision) and traffic accident reconstruction (inverse collision) simulations are conducted to improve the quality and accuracy of the traffic accident reconstruction. The vehicle and tire models are used to simulate the trajectories for the post-impact motion of the vehicles after collision. The impact dynamic model applicable to the forward and inverse collision simulations is also provided. The accuracy of impact analysis for the vehicular collision depends on the accuracy of the coefficients of restitution and friction. The neural network is used to estimate these coefficients. The forward and inverse collision simulations for the multi-collisions are conducted. The new method fur the accident reconstruction is proposed to calculate the pre-impact velocities of the vehicles without using the trial and error process which requires the repeated calculations of the initial velocities until the forward collision simulation satisfies with the accident evidences. This method estimates the pre-impact velocities of the vehicles by analyzing the trajectories of the vehicles. The vehicle slides on a road surface not only under the skidding during an emergency braking but also under the steering. A vehicle over steering or cornering with excessive speed loses the traction and leaves tile yaw marks on the road surface. The new critical speed formula based on the vehicle dynamics is proposed to analyze the yaw marks and shows smaller errors than ones of the existing critical speed formula.

An inviscid axisymmetric model capable of predicting droplet bouncing and the detailed pre-impact motion, influenced by the ambient pressure, has been developed using boundary element method (BEM). Because most droplet impact simulations of previous studies assumed that a droplet was already in contact with the impacting substrate at the simulation start, the previous simulations could not accurately describe the effect of the gas compressed between a failing droplet and the impacting substrate. To properly account for the surrounding gas effect, an effect is made to release a droplet from a certain height. High gas pressures are computationally observed in the region between the droplet and the impact surface at instances just prior to impact. The current simulation shows that the droplet retains its spherical shape when the surface tension energy is dominant over the dissipative energy. When increasing the Weber number, the droplet surface structure is highly deformed due to the appearance of the capillary waves and, consequently, a pyramidal surface structure is formed; this phenomenon was verified with our experiment. Parametric studies using our model include the pre-impact behavior which varies as a function of the Weber number and the surrounding gas pressure.

This paper shows the possibility to have a accurate record and analysis of all data of pre/post-environmental impact assessment. For the experimental test, a surveying was carried with aerial photos by non-metric camera of remote controlled model airplene, aeial camera, LANDSAT data. The three approaches are briefly described. Finally, author suggest an environmental impact assessment method using aerial photogrammetric method. This will lead to more accurate and effective method in the environmental impact assessment.

Crash test data from different impact modes and threshold speeds were used to assess the effects of impact conditions on air bag electronic single point sensing (ESPS) activation requirements. The requirements are expressed in terms of the desired sensor activation time based on unbelted driver dummy kinematics. A crash discriminator pre-displacement is introduced to crash recognition algorithm to the ESPS. The new crash recognition algorithm named Velocity Energy Pre-displacement(VEPD) method is developed and the ESPS algorithm based on the VEPD technique is used to assess the ESPS system performance. It is shown that VEPD method correlates very well with desired sensor activation time and meets the activation requirement.
Compared to ambient vibration testing, impact testing has the merit to extract not only structural modal parameters but also structural flexibility. Therefore, structural deflections under any static load can be predicted from the identified results of the impact test data. In this article, a signal processing procedure for structural flexibility identification is first presented. Especially, practical issues in applying the proposed procedure for structural flexibility identification are investigated, which include sensitivity analyses of three pre-defined parameters required in the data pre-processing stage to investigate how they affect the accuracy of the identified structural flexibility. Finally, multiple-reference impact test data of a three-span reinforced concrete T-beam bridge are simulated by the FE analysis, and they are used as a benchmark structure to investigate the practical issues in the proposed signal processing procedure for structural flexibility identification.
This study investigates the impact of tweets on box office revenue. Specifically, the study focuses on the times when tweets were written by examining the impact of pre- and post-consumption tweets on box office revenue; an examination that is based on Expectation Confirmation Theory. The study also investigates the impact of intention tweets versus subjective tweets and the impact of negative tweets on box office revenue. Targeting 120 movies released in the US between February and August 2012, this study collected tweet information on a daily basis from two weeks before the opening until the closing and box office revenue information. The results indicate that the disconfirmation that occurs in relation to the total number of pre-consumption tweets for a movie has a negative impact on box office revenue. This premise suggests that the formation of higher expectations of a movie does not always result in positive results in situations where tweets on perceived movie quality after watching spread rapidly. This study also reveals that intention tweets have stronger effects on box office revenue than subjective tweets.
