The subjects in this study were 129 dental hygiene seniors at a college located in the city of J. The selected students had been engaged in a 16-week clinical practice. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. The dental hygiene students investigated got a mean of 3.34 out of possible five points on professional self-concept. As for the subfactors of professional self-concept, they got 3.75, 3.38 and 2.87 respectively on communication, professional work handling and satisfaction level. 2. They got a mean of 3.29 out of possible five points on satisfaction level with clinical practice. As to the subfactors of the satisfaction level, they gave 3.60, 3.50, 3.46, 3.04 and 2.83 to environments for practice, the content of practice, supervision, the length of practice and evaluation respectively. 3. In regard to the relationship of general characteristics to professional self-concept, satisfaction level with the major and social perception of dental hygienist made significant differences to professional self-concept. 4. As for connections between the general characteristics and satisfaction level with clinical practice, satisfaction with clinical practice was significantly different according to satisfaction with the major, satisfaction with the amount of practice and satisfaction with social perception of dental hygienist. 5. There was a significantly positive correlation between professional self-concept and satisfaction level with clinical practice(r=.383, p=.001). In conclusion, how much dental hygienists who are trained to be a dental hygienist are gratified with clinical practice is one of integral factors to affect their development of professional self-concept. Therefore prolonged research efforts should be directed into determining in which way clinical practice should be implemented to develop the professional self-concept of would-be dental hygienists and how to raise their satisfaction with clinical practice.
Purpose: This study investigated the relationships between mothers' knowledge and practice level of cough etiquette and their children's practice level of cough etiquette as perceived by their mothers. Methods: This study was a descriptive correlational study. The data were collected from 160 mothers with preschoolers attending daycare centers and kindergartens in Gwangju, South Korea using self-reported questionnaires. Results: The correct answer rate for cough etiquette knowledge in mothers was 86.0%, mothers' average practice score was 33.65±4.14, and their children's average practice score was 28.39±4.85 out of 48. The correlation between mothers' cough etiquette knowledge and practice level was not statistically significant. However, mothers' cough etiquette practice was positively correlated with children's cough etiquette level as perceived by mothers (r=.35, p<.001). Conclusion: The development of a systematic cough etiquette education program and measurements for both mothers and children according to their developmental stages is important to effectively prevent respiratory infections.
The study was done to improve the job training course for Community Health Practioners (CHPs) by evaluating the level of help that the training provided to the CHPs in carrying out their work and to analyze the management activities of the CHPs in order to develop a more effective CHP training program. The methodologies used in the study were a questionnaire survey. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS Windows. The study results are as follows. 1. The total average level of help from the job training(Theory. Practice and Field Practice) for carrying out the CHP work was found to be $3.04\pm.53$ (of a possible 4), which indicates a high level of help. The average for clinical practices was $3.16\pm.60$. for theory. $3.11\pm.40$ and for field practice. $2.84\pm.60$. 2. For the theory content of the job training courses. the help level was low in the area of mother and child health management/family planning with an average of $2.65\pm.62$ and in the area of health information system development with an average of $2.62\pm.83$. The reason for these deficiencies were. in order of frequency. few opportunities to apply learning. training content that was inadequate. training methodologies which were incongruent with content. improper training items and insufficient class hours. For the practice. the clinical work in rehabilitation/orthopedics departments and in ENT/Opthalmology departments had averages of $2.96\pm.86$ and $2.97\pm.80$ respectively. This low level resulted from the lack of direct experience. lack of sincerity during the practice time. lack of practice guidance. insufficient time and lack of practice equipment. in that order. For the field practice. the delivery management averaged $2.06\pm.90$ as the lowest help level. In this case 68% of respondents replied that there were no relevant reasons for this deficiency. 21% responsed that there was a lack of direct experience, 7%, a lack of practice guidance and 4.8%, insufficient time. 3. There were significant differences for several demographic variables when comparing the help level of the clinical courses (practice and Field Practice). A higher help level was reported by older nurses as compared to younger ones, experienced nurses as compared to scholarship nurses, and married over single. Also for nurses who had finished more other programs and were qualified or licensed in several areas the level was high. Although it was not statistically significant the level was higher if the work area was in a rural county, not a city, and if one had more recently completed the job training(P<,05). 4. Of the respondents 58.6% replies stated the period of job training for the CHP was adequate, but 51.7% reported that the period for theory courses was too short while an other 48.3% responded that it was sufficient. For practice locations, 50% responsed that it was good to practice in medical institutions(primary, secondary and tertiary) at the same time. While 48.3% agreed that doing theory and practice simultaneously was good, and 56.9% agreed that field practice should be done after completing theory and practice training. Hence, the development of new field practice guidelines suitable for changing environments of health management are required in place of the existing ones which were considered low in help level to the practical work of the CHPs.

The purpose of this study was to investigate satisfacation level of clinical practice and related variables to develop more effective learning program for students in the department of radiology. We surveyed 138 students who participated in the clinical practice program and they were university or college students in the area of Busan and Kyungnam. As a result, the satisfaction level of professional guidance were the highest and the satisfaction level of practice evaluation were the lowest. In the college students, the satisfaction level of the professional guidance were the highest and the satisfaction level of practice environment were the lowest. In the university students, the satisfaction level of the practice duration were the highest and the satisfaction level of practice evaluation were the lowest. The results of multiple regression analysis between the satisfaction level and the related variables indicated that the status of radiologist in the clinical practice are the major component in the college students and the status of radiologist in the academic duration and the clinical experience are the major component that contribute the satisfaction level in the university students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine nursing students' satisfaction level with PBL-based clinical practice, their autonomy, achievement motivation and what affected them in those regards in an attempt to lay the groundwork for providing more systematic and efficient clinical practice, Method: The subjects III this study were 138 nursing sophomores at J college who participated in PBL-based clinical practice, Results: They got a mean of 3.34, 3.83 and 3.83 in satisfaction level with the clinical practice, autonomy and achievement motivation respectively. In regard to the relationship of the satisfaction level to general characteristics including motivation of choosing the major and time for undergoing the clinical practice, the students who decided to major in nursing at their own option(3.61) were most contented with practice teaching(F=6.356, p<.01), and those who underwent the clinical practice after taking lessons(3.82) were most pleased with the content of the clinical practice (t=2.129, p<.05). Concerning connections between autonomy and general characteristics involving age, satisfaction with the major and time for the clinical practice, the students who were at the age of 22(3.92) valued themselves the most(F=3.003, P<.05). And those who found their major satisfactory (4.28) and undergo the clinical practice after taking lessons(4.37) respected others the most(F=3.133, p<.01). As to relations between achievement motivation and general characteristics, the students who were contented with their major(4.00) excelled the others who weren't in that aspect(F=6.038, p<.01). The satisfaction level with the clinical practice was positively correlated to autonomy (r=.328, p<.01) and achievement motivation(r=.476, p<.01). Conclusions: The findings illustrated that the nursing students expressed the satisfaction with the PBL-based clinical practice education. The older students who were 22 years old were more autonomous, and those who took part in the clinical practice after receiving theoretical instruction were more autonomous and more pleased with the practice. The students who found their major more satisfactory surpassed the others in autonomy and achievement motivation. There was positive correlation among the clinical-practice satisfaction level, autonomy and achievement motivation. There are some suggestions: Intensive research efforts should be directed into getting a profound grasp of PBL-based clinical practice education geared toward nursing students. The development of modules for PBL-based nursing clinical practice education was required. How to provide PBL-based theoretical education to nursing students should be studied.
