This paper explores the relationship between working hours and the residual gender wage gap in Korea. Because the labor practice of working long hours in Korea favors men, who tend to spend little time on domestic labor, long working hours can influence the residual gender wage gap by discriminating against women. We analyze this discrimination empirically, and find the following results. First, the returns from working long hours are not high in most occupations in Korea. Second, working hours have a positive effect on the residual gender wage gap in male-dominated occupations, but not in female-dominated ones.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the unit-level nurse practice environment on nurse turnover intention in the small and medium sized hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire survey with 308 nurses in 38 nursing units of 6 small and medium sized hospitals, having over 200 beds and under 300 beds and located in B metropolitan city. Data were collected from July 20 to August 10, 2011. Data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The mean turnover intention in nurses of small and medium sized hospitals was $3.52{\pm}0.53$. Factors affecting turnover intention in the nurses included age, work unit, monthly income, number of night-duties, work hours per day and unit-level nurse practice environment. The unit-level nurse practice environment accounted for 15% of turnover intention when other variables were controlled. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that nurse turnover intention is associated with the nurse practice environment at the unit level. Small and medium sized hospitals can improve nurse retention and lower turnover intention by changing the nurse practice environment of unit, such as creating better support services and nurse participation in hospital affairs.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect nursing students' clinical practice ability. Methods: The data were collected from 303 nursing students who had more than 500 hours of experience in clinical practicum at 4 universities in Seoul and the metropolitan area. The instruments consisted of 27 items of critical thinking, 19 items of professionalism, 40 items of self reported leadership, 20 items of communication evaluation tool, and 61 items of nursing practice performance evaluation. Results: For the clinical practicum, most difficult for nursing students were cardiopulmonary resuscitation, fecal enema, stoma care, and blood transfusion. Clinical practice abilities were positively correlated with nursing professionalism(r=.26, p<.001), leadership (r=.16, p=.007) and critical thinking(r=.12, p=.031). Professionalism(${\beta}=.32$, p=.001) was the most significant factor influencing the clinical practice ability of nursing students. Critical thinking was the second largest factor but not significant(${\beta}=.16$, p=.058). Conclusion: The findings suggest that the nursing curriculum should include nursing knowledge and nursing skills as well as various case-based or field-based decision making training programs to cultivate professionalism, critical thinking and other abilities for clinical practice.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the autonomy of dental hygiene students after clinical practice and their satisfaction with the clinical practice in an effort to determine how to manage courses in need of practice and how to provide education and guidance on clinical practice. A survey was conducted on the students in a three-year college in Gyeonggi Province, and the data from 295 respondents were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for autonomy, the subjects got a mean of 3.60 in respect for others, and 3.40 in respect for themselves. 2. In regard to satisfaction with clinical practice, they gave the highest score of 3.58 to the content of the clinical practice, and they gave the lowest score of 3.09 to practice hours. 3. They gave higher scores to autonomy of clinical practice when their awareness of dental hygienist at the time of college admission and after experiencing the clinical practice was better and when they were more satisfied with their major. 4. They gave the highest scores to satisfaction with the clinical practice when they voluntarily chose the department of dental hygiene in terms of motivation for major selection, when their awareness of dental hygiene at the time of college admission and after experiencing the clinical practice was better and when they were more satisfied with their major. 5. The students who gave higher scores to autonomy of the clinical practice were more satisfied with the practice.
The purpose of this study is to develop a systematic and efficient curriculum for the rehabilitation nurse specialist program. This research was carried out as a group work of 15 experts in order to share various opinions about the curriculum, and also through literature review. Articles, curriculums of other Clinical Nurse Specialist Programs, medical laws guidelines, as well as Clinical Nurse Specialist Program from the Korean Nurses Association were reviewed, and the issue was discussed throughly via group meetings. The developed curriculum is as follows: 1. Educational philosophy lies in the fact that the rehabilitation nurses support the patients to maximize their potential and functional level, so that they could maintain healthy state and re-adapt to changed environment. Furthermore the rehabilitation nurses are disposed of arbitrary decision power under their own responsibility, thus they take charge of welfare and healthy environment of the local society through the patients(subjects) and local resources. 2. Educational goals are to train rehabilitation nurse specialist, who correspond to the social needs, so to say, those who have the knowledge and skills for nursing practice, education and research. 3. The curriculum consists of 37 credits, of which 24 credits are based on lectures and 13 credits based on clinical practice. General courses are 3 subjects (5 credits) ; nursing theory, nursing research, and laws/ethics. Mandatry courses are 8 subjects with 19 credits; advanced physical assessment, pharmacology, pathophysiology, issues in rehabilitation nursing, advanced rehabilitation nursing intervention I, advanced rehabilitation nursing intervention II, sports physiology, special rehabilitation nursing intervention. As for the clinical practice courses, assessment and evaluation for rehabilitation(64 hours), community and home based rehabilitation nursing(128 hours), hospital based rehabilitation nursing(128 hours), institution based rehabilitation nursing(96 hours) would be treated. 4. Contents of the curses were developed to correspond with the courses' objectives and specific items. 5. Evaluation would be carried out both in the lecture and in the clinical practice. The knowledge and skills of the students would be measured to ensure full validity and credibility. However this developed curriculum should be continuously modified and updated in more desirable direction.

The emergency preparedness exercise currently conducted by the government has been conducted as a message-based exercise for more than 50 years. Therefore, in this study, a simulation-based maintenance practice model was developed focusing on infectious disease situations, and the possibility of a training system applying scientific techniques was presented. As a result, First, a simulatioon logic assuming an infectious disease outbreak situation was developed. The situation of an infectious disease outbreak was made to occur when measures are not taken within 24 hours for the death due to disease, and when appropriate measures are not taken for contaminated food (24 hours), drinking water (12 hours), and drinking water shortage (24 hours). Second, in order to implement the simulation logic, simulation engine SW was developed for emergency medical team, epidemiological investigation team, dead burial team, quarantine and disinfection team, etc., and situation map SW was developed so that these contents could be expressed in the situation map. As suggested in this paper, if scientific techniques are applied to the simulation-based government practice model to expand the scope, training will be possible by creating practical situations that can occur in the real world, and the Chungmu plan and various emergency preparedness plans will be verified.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify whether there is a difference between an online-based community psychiatric nursing practice program with the ARCS model and a conventional community psychiatric nursing practice program in promoting nursing students' learning motivation, knowledge of community psychiatric nursing, communication skills, and learning self-efficacy. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The participants were 44 nursing students at three nursing colleges in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The experimental group was provided the online-based community psychiatric nursing practice program with ARCS model, while the control group was provided the conventional community psychiatric nursing practice program from July 9, to September 3, 2022. Both groups received practice training 8 hours a day, 5 days two weeks. The collected data were analyzed using the exact χ2, Mann-Whitney U-test, and Quade's two-way ANCOVA with the IBM SPSS Statistics 28.0 program. Results: The results of the comparison of an experimental group training with the online-based community psychiatric nursing practice program with ARCS model and a control group training with the conventional community psychiatric nursing practice program showed that, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in learning motivation knowledge of community psychiatric nursing, and learning self-efficacy. However, communication skills were statistically significantly higher in the experimental group (F=6.23, p=.017). Conclusion: The online-based community psychiatric nursing practice program with ARCS model can be used as a substitute learning to improve community psychiatric nursing capabilities in situations when clinical practice is suspended due to infectious diseases such as coronavirus disease 2019 or when is a shortage of community psychiatric nursing practice institutions.
