Study on Classification of Fog Type based on Its Generation Mechanism and Fog Predictability Using Empirical Method (경험적 방법을 통한 발생학적 한반도 안개 구분과 안개 발생 예측가능성 연구)

  • In this study, we developed a fog classification algorithm to classify fog type based on fog generation mechanism. For the analysis period of 1986-2005, 15,748 fog events had been reported from the 40 observational sites in South Korea. Thus, practically, it is almost impossible to individually classify the fog type of the whole fog events occurred in South Korea manually. In this study, the characteristics of fog during the research period were investigated and the fog classification flowchart were developed base on the analysis, and the fog classification algorithm was applied for the classification of fogs occurred at the observational sites. Finally, the classified fog-type and hindcasted fog occurance results obtained from the flowchart were evaluated for verification.

  • The logical analysis of data(LAD) is an effective Boolean-logic based data mining tool. A critical step in analyzing data by LAD is the pattern generation stage where useful knowledge and hidden structural information in data is discovered in the form of patterns. A conventional method for pattern generation in LAD is based on term enumeration that renders the generation of higher degree patterns practically impossible. In this paper, we present a new optimization-based pattern generation methodology and propose two mathematical programming medels, a mixed 0-1 integer and linear programming(MILP) formulation and a well-studied set covering problem(SCP) formulation for the generation of optimal and heuristic patterns, respectively. With benchmark datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our models by automatically generating with much ease patterns of high complexity that cannot be generated with the conventional approach.

  • This research was carried out to investigated the effect of base paper and latex binder on printability and obtical properties of coated paper. Especially, it examined the effect of th pH of vase paper surface and functional groups of latices on the interactions between coating color components and on the structure of coated layer. It was found that the behavior of coating color containing amphoeric latex depends on the pH in the boundary region between coating color and base paper. Thus, the coating color formulated with amphoteric latex formed bulky coating layer by inducing stronger interaction between paper surface and coating components than the coating color with anionic latex. The coated paper with amphoteric latex showed better optical properties (i.e.gloss and optical) and printability (i.e. ink receptivity, wet ink receptivity, and ink set off) than the conventional anionic latex in the acidic and alkaline paper. However, dry pick strength of the coated paper was less decreased. This result indicated that amphoteric latex could also be applied practically to the alkaline paper.

  • Physicochemical properties of arrowroot starch were investigated. The starch had blue value of 0.397, alkali number of 10.1 and amylose content of 22.0%. The starch was practically insoluble in water up to $55^{\circ}C$. X-ray diffraction was C pattern, but was close to A pattern. The alkali number, X-ray pattern and viscogram of the starch and retrogadation rate of the starch gels indicated that the properties of the arrow root starch were close to those of cereal starches.

  • Pipe drainage is one of the effective slope protein works that can be adopted practically. As fine soil particles are suspended in percolating water, the strainer structure of under drain pipes in necessary to prevent the immediate clogging by soil suspension flow. This study deals with the effective strainer structure of under drain pipes for slope protection. The effective strainer structure of under pipes is the funneled strainer in which pore radius is enlarged toward flow direction. It is designed from the rheological properties of soil suspension flow which prevents the immediate clogging. Experimental results showed that the pipe drain discharge through the funneled strainers was larger than that through the constant pore radius strainers. This theorectial and experimental results indicate that the strainer with enlarged pore radius toward flow direction, is more effective than the strainer with constant pore radius.

Development of a Measurement System for Ammonia Gas in Swine Housing (돈사내 암모니아가스 계측시스템 개발)

  • A PC based measurement system was developed and it consisted of ammonia sensor(TS-1000), AMP & MUX Board, A/D Converter, and personal computer. The results obtained from the study are summarized as follows : 1. The relationship of outputs(V) of ammonia sensor(AS) and concentrations(ppm) of ammonia gas was analyzed by the linear regression analysis and the output values were very accurate when compared with standard ammonia gas. 2. The test results showed that the performance of ammonia gas sensor was not 31B3c1e4 by temperatures and humidities 3. The developed ammonia gas measurement system was proved to be practically uesful for measuring concentrations of ammonia gas in pig housing.

  • A prototype of the feeding-milking robot was developed in the Hungarian Institute of Agricultural Engineering in 1988-89. Before starting with the operation tests the cleaning system had to be elaborated . The cleaning system has two parts. Those are the complete cleaning of the system, producing a practically sterile state, as well as flushing through the milking device between milking of two cows. Separate electronic sensor development was necessary for both system which can connect to the control system of the robot. To clean the system pneumatic air input was applied. As an effect of the local adjustment of the electronic control system optimal flow conditions can be formed what is more favourable comparing to the earlier solutions of cleaning due to the mechanical effect. In the flushing through overpressure air is applied. The air and the cleaning liquid input duration can be adjusted to the local conditions. The electronic control unit can be connected to the electric ircuits of robot.

  • Volumetric efficiency is a determining factor for tile measurement of compessor capacity, but it is practically hard to take an accurate measurement of capacity characteritics so that most of users trust the data of makers catalogue. We often realized the discrepancy in their data with actual capacity. This study was attemped to establish the basic data of capacity characteristics of compressor by measuring volumetric efficiency of high speed multi-cylinder compressor and rotary compressor. The volumetric efficiency was calculated based on the quantity of the flow of ammonia vapor and pressure difference in suction state of orifice plate and compressor. The volumetric efficiency of high speed multi-cylinder compressor was $37-61\%$ and that of rotary compressor was $57-82\%$ when compression ratio was in the range of 4-12. The discrepancy in volumetric efficiency at an equal evaporating temperature between the makers catalogue and the measured data was $5.5\%$.

  • The purpose of this study is to form a different evaluation method of academic libraries in Korea. In order to this product life cycle and product portfolio matrix have been used. While they are based upon products and services, their general concept is useful for library managers as they help to distinguish which books have potential for growth. Writer tried to transform them into book life cycle and book portfolio matrix as a tool for assessing the quality of stock on the library shelves. With this method, writer a n.0, ppraised practically the Sociology Collection of Pusan National University Library by the state of usage and classified them into four groups that were development books, growth books, maturity books, and declining books.

A Study on the Estimation of Running Royalty of Biopharmaceutical Technologies in Licensing Agreements (생명제약 기술 라이선스 경상로열티 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Bioharmaceutical technologies have consistently been areas in which large licensing agreements have been negotiated. However, there are very limited informations in the open literature on how its running royalty rates are determined and no specific methods are yet provided. The purpose of this study is to suggest an appropriate method for the estimation of running royalty of bioharmaceutical technology in licensing agreements. Here distribution of risk-adjusted operating margins are obtained by simulation using statistics of success rates in the stage of clinical trials and profit margins. Three factors based on technology, business and license legal terms are considered and combined as licensing competitiveness level. Finally, reasonable running royalty is estimated by combining simulated distribution and licensing competitiveness level. This suggested method is expected to practically useful for licensor to establish an appropriate running royalty rate for licensing.
