  • This paper proposes simple and practical methods in order to overcome complex formulation and heavy computational burden of the forward kinematics of 6 앨 3-6 type parallel manipulators. Three ap-proaches for the forward kinematics are presented : one extra sensor a modified structure and novel numerical method. The proposed methods are applied to the forward kinematics of a new 6 앨 parallel manipulator with special geometry that has three internal links three external links and a moving platform of a cone shape. The proposed methods use three tetrahedrons for finding the position and orientation vector of the moving platform. The main advantages of the appraches using tetrahedrons are to abbreviate the formulation to easily find so-lutions of the forward kinematics and to be able to practically control of the manipulator in real time.

  • Recently, many virus and hacking attacks on public organizations and financial institutions by internet are becoming increasingly intelligent and sophisticated. The Advanced Persistent Threat has been considered as an important cyber risk. This attack is basically accomplished by spreading malicious codes through complex networks. To detect and extract PE files in smart manufacturing industry networks, an efficient processing method which is performed before analysis procedure on malicious codes is proposed. We implement a preprocessor of open intrusion detection system Snort for fast extraction of PE files and install on a hardware sensor equipment. As a result of practical experiment, we verify that the network sensor can extract the PE files which are often suspected as a malware.

  • Visualization is a science which makes the invisible to visible through the techniques of experimental visualization and computer-aided visualization. This paper presents the practical aspects of visualization of multivariate dataset. In this paper, we will briefly discuss a previous research work and introduce a new visualization technique which will help us to design and develop a visualization tool for experimental visualization of multivariate dataset. Our newly developed visualization tool can be used in various domains. In this paper, we have chosen a software industry as an application domain and we used the multivariate dataset of software components computed by VizzMaintenance. VizzMaintenance is software analysis tool which give us multiple software metrics of open source Java based programs. Main objective of this research is to develop a new visualization tool for large multivariate dataset which will be more efficient and easy to perceive by viewer. Perception is very important for our research work and we have decided to test the perception level of our proposed visualization approach by researchers of our research lab.

  • High nickel layered oxide cathodes are gaining increasing attention for lithium-ion batteries due to their higher energy density and lower cost compared to LiCoO2. However, they suffer from the formation of residual lithium on the surface in the form of LiOH and Li2CO3 on exposure to ambient air. The residual lithium causes notorious issues, such as slurry gelation during electrode preparation and gas evolution during cell cycling. In this review, we investigate the residual lithium issues through its impact on cathode slurry instability based on deformed polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) as well as its formation and reduction mechanism in terms of inherently off-stoichiometric synthesis of high nickel cathodes. Additionally, new analysis method with anhydrous methanol was introduced to exclude Li+/H+ exchange effect during sample preparation with distilled water. We hope that this review would contribute to encouraging the academic efforts to consider practical aspects and mitigation in global high-energy-density lithium-ion battery manufacturers.

  • Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are one of attractive energy conversion and storage system based on high theoretical specific capacity and energy density with low costs. However, volatile nature of elemental sulfur is one of critical problem for their practical acceptance in industry because it considerably affects electrode uniformity during electrode manufacturing. In this work, polymeric sulfur composite consisting of ionic liquid (IL) are suggested to reduce volatility nature of elemental sulfur, resulting in better processibility of the Li-S cell. According to systematic spectroscopic analysis, it is found that polymeric sulfur is consisting of repeating units combining with elemental sulfur and volatility of them is negligible even at high temperature. In addition, the IL-embedded polymeric sulfur shows moderate cycle performance compared to the cell with elemental sulfur. From these results, it is found that the IL-embedded polymeric sulfur composite is applicable cathode candidate for the Li-S cell based on their excellent non-volatility as well as their superior electrochemical performance.

  • In this paper we deal with the problem of recovering 3-D motion and structure from a time-varying 2-D velocity vector field. A great deal has been done on this topic, most of which has concentrated on finding necessary and sufficient conditions for there to be a unique 3-D solution corresponding to a given 2-D motion. While previous work provides useful theoretical insight, in most situations the known algorithms have turned out to be too sensitive to be of much practical use. It appears that any robust algorithm must improve the 3-D solutions over time. As a step toward such algorithm, we present a method for recovering 3-D motion and structure from a given time-varying 2-D velocity vector field. The surface of the object in the scene is assumed to be locally planar. It is also assumed that 3-D velocity vectors are piecewise constant over three consecutive frames (or two snapshots of flow field). Our formulation relates 3-D motion and object geometry with the optical flow vector as well as its spatial and temporal derivatives. The linearization parameters, or equivalently, the first-order flow approximation (in space and time) is sufficient to recover rigid body motion and local surface structure from the local instantaneous flow field. We also demonstrate, through a sensitivity analysis carried out for synthetic and natural motions in space, that 3-D motion can be recovered reliably.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the role of parental support in mitigating the impact of discrimination experiences on depression among children and adolescents. This focus was based on the premise that experiences of discrimination can negatively affect peer relationships as well as behavioral and emotional development in youths who spend a significant amount of time with their peers at school. We aimed to explore the mediating role of parental support and to present policy and practical recommendations from a social welfare perspective. For this purpose, data from the "2020 Survey on the Human Rights of Children and Adolescents" was utilized, involving 9,000 students ranging from 4th to 6th grade in elementary school, grade in middle school, and grade in high school from across the country. The study was conducted targeting these groups. For research analysis, frequency analysis using SPSS 26.0 was employed to calculate the general characteristics of the study subjects and the reliability coefficient of the testing tool. And regression analysis was conducted to verify the mediating effect of parental support on the impact of discrimination experiences on depression. The analysis revealed that there were 4,473 males (51.9%) and 4,150 females (48.1%), and that experiences of discrimination had a negative effect on depression (B=311, P<0.001). It was found that the more frequent the experiences of discrimination, the higher the level of depression, and the more a youth experienced discrimination, the greater the psychological depression they endured.

  • Dealing with quntization error in a control system properly becomes much more important as many devices are connected through network and controlled. Thus, in this paper, we study a data rate condition on quantizer to achieve practical stability in a discrete time linear time invariant system with state feedback control. First, required data rate is shown to depend on eigenvalue of the closed loop system, the size of the initial state vector, the magnitude of initial quantization error, and control gain in the absence of process noise. It additionally depends on the maximum magnitude of process noise when noise is not zero. Asymptotic analysis shows that a new design method may be needed to reduce the date rate for a networked control in the presence of quantization error and noise.. We provide a simple numerical evaluation of uniform quantizer and logarithmic qunatizer to assess their characteristics of practical stability depending on data rate in the presence of noise.

  • The wetting property of polymer surfaces is very important for practical applications. Plasma source ion implantation technique was used to improve the wetting properties of polymer surfaces. Poly(ethylene terephtalate) and other polymer sheets were mounted on the target stage and an RF plasma was generated by means of an antenna located inside the vacuum chamber. High voltage pulses of up to -10kV, 10 $\mu$sec, and up to 1 kHz were applied to the stage. The samples were implanted for 5 minutes with using Ar, $N_2,O_2,CH_4,CF_4$ and their mixture as source gases. A contact angle meter was used to measure the water contact angles of the implanted samples and of the samples stored in ambient conditions after implantation. The modified surfaces were analysed with Time-Of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (TOF-SIMS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). The oxygen-implanted samples showed extremely low water contact angles of $3^{\circ}C$ compared to $79^{\circ}C$ of unimplanted ones. Furthermore, the modified surfaces were relatively stable with respect to aging in ambient conditions, which is one of the major concerns of the other surface treatment techniques. From TOF-SIMS analysis it was found that oxygen-containing functional groups had been formed on the implanted surfaces. On the other hand, the $CF_4$-implanted samples turned out to be more hydro-phobic than unimplanted ones, giving water contact angles exceeding $100^{\circ}C$ . The experiment showed that plasma source ion implantation is a very promising technique for polymer surface modification especially for large area treatment.
