Various models and various boundary conditions have been suggested for fluid transport simulations of high density plasma discharges such as the inductively coupled plasma discharge. In this work, we compare the various models using one-dimensional simulations based on the FDM(finite difference method), the upwind scheme, the power-law scheme, and the dielectric relaxation scheme[l] Comparing the exactness, the numerical stability and the efficiency of the various models. the most adoptable model is suggested.

In the Refrigeration and air conditioning industrial circles, refrigerator is demands a high degree of efficiency due to the Environmental Preservation Law. Many researchers are working on factors to improve the efficiency of the refrigerator In this paper, a study of the factors on the decrease of electric power consumption, several experiments are performed to improve the fluid flow in the refrigerator machine room. As a results, average temperatures of compressor and condenser are reduced 3.1$^{\circ}C$, 2.$0^{\circ}C$. The consuming electric power rate is reduced 0.7kWh/month.

To develop a new form of spice material by concentration of garlic juice, its rheological properties were investigated. In the temperature range of $15\;to\;65^{\circ}C$, the garlic juice with the solid content of $32\;to\;60^{\circ}Brix$ was considered as a pseudoplastic fluid. Flow and consistency indices of the juice interpreted by power-law equation varied from $0.9937\;to\;0.6130\;and\;0.0041\;to\;3.1886Pa{\;s^n$, respectively. Apparent viscosity was lineally decreased as shear rate was increased. Activation energy for the flow of the garlic juice changed in the range of 11,216 to 23,195 kJ/kg mol.

Curved duct channel flow characteristics for non-Newtonian gel fluid is investigated. A simulant gel propellant mixed by Water, Carbopol 941 and NaOH solution has been chosen to analyze the gel propellant flow behavior. Rheological data have been measured prior to the flow analysis where water-gel propellant and water-gel propellant with $Al_2O_3$ nano particles are both used. The critical Dean number examined by the numerical simulation in the U-shape duct flow reveals that although water-gel-nano propellants have higher apparent viscosity, the critical Dean number do show no notable difference for both the two gel propellant. It is found that the power-law index may be a dominant parameter in determining the critical Dean number and that the gel with particles addition may be more vulnerable to Dean instability.
Fixed-bed reactor Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of methanol steam reforming reaction was performed using the intrinsic kinetic data of the copper-impregnated hydrotalcite catalyst. The activation energy of the copper hydrotalcite catalyst obtained from the previous study results was 97.4 kJ/mol, and the pre-exponential was 5.904 × 1010. Process simulation was performed using the calculated values and showed a similar tendency to the experimental results. And the conversion rate according to the change of the reaction temperature (200 - 450 ℃) and the molar ratio of methanol and water was observed using the intrinsic kinetic data. In addition, mass and heat transfer phenomena analysis of a commercial reactor (I.D. 0.05 - 0.1m, Length 1m) was predicted through axial 2D Symmetry simulation using the power law model of the above kinetic constants.
Different from the conventional planar fracture and simplified Newton model, for power-law slurries with a lower water-cement ratio commonly used in grouting engineering, flow model in geological rough fractures is built based on ten standard profiles from Barton (1977) in this study. The numerical algorithm is validated by experimental results. The flow mechanism, grout superiority, and water plugging of pseudo plastic slurry are revealed. The representations of hydraulic grouting properties for JRCs are obtained. The results show that effective plugging is based on the mechanical mechanisms of the fluctuant structural surface and higher viscosity at the middle of the fissure. The formulas of grouting parameters are always variable with the roughness and shear movement, which play a key role in grouting. The roughness can only be neglected after reaching a threshold. Grouting pressure increases with increasing roughness and has variable responses for different apertures within standard profiles. The whole process can be divided into three stationary zones and three transition zones, and there is a mutation region (10 < JRCs < 14) in smaller geological fractures. The fitting equations of different JRCs are obtained of power-law models satisfying the condition of -2 < coefficient < 0. The effects of small apertures and moderate to larger roughness (JRCs > 10.8) on the permeability of surfaces cannot be underestimated. The determination of grouting parameters depends on the slurry groutability in terms of its weakest link with discontinuous streamlines. For grouting water plugging, the water-cement ratio, grouting pressure and grouting additives should be determined by combining the flow conditions and the apparent widths of the main fracture and rough surface. This study provides a calculation method of grouting parameters for variable cement-based slurries. And the findings can help for better understanding of fluid flow and diffusion in geological fractures.

Rankine cycle using ammonia-water mixture as a working fluid has attracted much attention, since it may be a very useful device to extract power from low-temperature heat source. In this work, the thermodynamic performance of regenerative ammonia-water Rankine cycle is thoroughly investigated based on the second law of thermodynamics and exergy analysis, when the energy source is low-temperature heat source in the form of sensible energy. In analyzing the power cycle, several key system parameters such as ammonia mass concentration in the mixture and turbine inlet pressure are studied to examine their effects on the system performance including exergy destructions or anergies of system components, efficiencies based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics. The results show that as the ammonia concentration increases, exergy exhaust increases but exergy destruction at the heat exchanger increases. The second-law efficiency has an optimum value with respect to the ammonia concentration.

This study analyzed the fluid state around a container crone according to a wind direction when a wind load was applied to a container crone. The container crane for this research is a model of a 50-ton class used broadly in the current ports. The dimension of an external fluid field set up diameter, 300m, height, 200m. This study considered the change of a wind velocity according to an altitude in a criterion of a wind velocity, 50m/s, applying a power series law. An incident angle applied to an interval of 30 degrees in $0^{\circ}{\sim}180^{\circ}$ and this study carried out a computation fluid dynamics using a CFX-10. In this study, we indicate the wind pressure according to the height and section figure of each member. In addition, we suggest the wind pressure accordint to a wind direction. And we will analyze the structure stability of a container crone from the fluid-ductile analysis in the next study.
Reynolds equation, which describes behavior of fluid film in journal bearings, basically satisfies mass conservation. But, boundary conditions usually used with this equation, e.g. half Sommerfeld or Reynolds boundary conditions, cannot fulfill this natural law of conservation. In the case of connecting rod bearing, where applied load is dynamic and its magnitude is relatively large, such unrealistic boundary conditions have serious influence on calculation results, especially on lubricant flow rate or power disspation which are important parameters in thermal analysis. In this paper, mass-conserving boundary condition was applied in the finite element analysis of connecting rod bearings. Lubricant flow rate and power dissipation rate were calculated together with journal center locus, minimum film thickness and maxmium film pressure. These computation results were compared with those of the case of Reynolds boundary condition. Balance between inlet and outlet flow rate was well achieved in the case of mass-conserving boundary condition.

Electrorheological(ER) and magnetorheological(MR) fluid-based dampers are typically analyzed using Bingham-plastic shear model under quasi-steady fully developed flow conditions. A Herschel-Bulkley constitutive shear flow relationship is that the linear shear stress vs. strain rate behavior of Bingham model is replaced by a shear stress that is assumed to be proportional to a power law of shear rate. This power is called the flow behavior index. Depending on the value of the flow behavior index number, varying degrees of post-yield shear thickening or thinning behavior can be analyzed. But it is not practical to analyze the damping force in a flow mode damper using Herschel-Bulkley model because it is needed to solve a polynomial equation. A useful guide is suggested to analyze the damping force in a damper using the Herschel-Bulkley model.
