Congestion problems of transmission lines are very important research issues in power system operations. Load curtailment is one of the ways to solve congestion problems by a major contingency. A systematic and effective mechanism for load shedding has been developed by investigating congestion distribution factors and the direct load control program. In this paper, a load shedding algorithm using linear programming for congestion problems by a major contingency is presented. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, it has been tested on the 6-bus sample system and the power system of Korea, and their results are presented.
In this study, we conducted research on a miniaturized transmission system suitable for ultra-compact electric vehicles, such as electric arts or small electric cars. While conventional electric vehicles eliminate multi-gear transmissions and control motor output or secure initial driving force through reducers, in vehicles like electric karts or compact electric cars, which have relatively small battery capacities, the driving range can be reduced or the motor can be stressed epending on the loading state. Therefore, in this study, we developed a low stage ratio 0.625 and high stage ratio 1.6 a two-stage transmission system that can change gears as needed, considering factors such as slope conditions and loading status, by applying the continuously variable transmission (CVT) mechanism. Based on the selected gear ratios, we designed the transmission and created a test rig to verify the power transmission efficiency of the developed transmission. Using the test rig, we varied the rotational speed and load of the transmission to confirm its power transmission characteristics and also examined the heat generation characteristics during shifting and operation. As a result, developed a two-stage transmission with a CVT structure.

This study proposes the antenna circuit design for the transmitting wireless power, the development of the RF non-contact type Dosimeter. That is, the study designed the optimization and numerical analysis of the antenna circuit for the antenna design of 13.56MHz over the frequency bands for transmitting wireless power. We studied the needed items in the existing RF type Dosimeter with battery to implement the wireless power non-contact Dosimeter within the battery. We compared to the real measurement value as calculating the value of the inductance and capacitance through the numerical analysis for the antenna LC resonance using the theory of the electromagnetic induction method. This method to drive low power is designed to simplify the circuit and to improve the efficiency of the rectifier. We convince our research contributes not only to understand the simplified circuit and miniaturization, but also to help the design and application technology of the wireless power transmit system which is received power supply with wireless.

This study suggests a dynamic design process for deciding properly design parameters of a mass-spring type Wave Energy Converter (WEC) to achieve sufficient energy conversion from wave to power generator. The WEC mechanism, in this research, consists of a rigid sprung body, a platform, suspension springs and dampers. The rigid sprung body is supported on the platform via springs and dampers and vibrates translationally in the heave direction under wave excitation. At last the resulting heave motion of the sprung body is transmitted to rotating motion of the electric generator by rack and pinion, and transmission gears. For the purpose of vibration analysis, the WEC mechanism has been simply modelled as a mass-spring-damper system under harmonic base excitation. Its maximum displacement transmissibility and steady state response can be determined by using elementary vibration theory if the harmonic ocean wave data were provided. With the vibration analysis results, the suggested dynamic design process of WEC can determine all the design parameters of the WEC mechanism, such as sprung body mass, suspension spring constant, and damping coefficient that can give sufficient relative displacement transmissibility and the associated inertia moment to drive the electric generator and transmission gears.

Commonly used horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT) have the following structure: two or three blades, a nacelle which contains power converting equipments, generators, and a tower which supports the nacelle. The generated power is transmitted from the nacelle to the ground. Due to this structure, the power transmission lines are twisted when the nacelle is yawing. Thus, slip ring or additional yaw control mechanism is required. We propose a new structure of HAWT which is free of this transmission line problem. Moreover, the size of inverter can be reduced since two generators are connected in parallel in our mechanism so that power is distributed. A controller for yawing is developed so that it works in harmony with the controller for power generation. A MPPT (Maximum Power Point tracking) algorithm is implemented for the proposed system and efficiency of the system is validated by simulation.

In this paper, the problem of electromagnetic transmission through slits in two parallel conducting plates which separate two half spaces is considered. The coupled integral equations for the electric field distributions over the slits are developed for the case that the TM polarized plane wave is incident on the slit and solved by the method of moments. The transmitted power beyond the slit-perforated conducting parallel plates is computed in order to check the variations of the coupled power through slits against some parameters such as the incident angle of the TM polarized wave, slit width, lateral distance between two slits, and distance between the conducting plates. When the lateral distance between two slits approaches near the multiples of half wavelengths, the transmission resonance (maximum power transmission) is observed. If the slit width in the incident side is narrow and the distance between conducting plates is small compared to the wavelength, the maximum of transmitted power is observed to be nearly independent of the incident angle and slit width. In addition, the mechanism of the transmission resonance in the present geometry is explained using a simplified geometry and its equivalent circuit.
In order to explore the characteristics of electrons in DC negative corona discharge, an improved plasma chemical model is presented for the simulation of bar-plate DC corona discharge in dry air. The model is based on plasma hydrodynamics and chemical models in which 12 species are considered. In addition, the photoionization and secondary electron emission effect are also incorporated within the model as well. Based on this model, electron mean energy distribution (EMED), electron density distribution (EDD), generation and dissipation rates of electron at 6 typical time points during a pulse are discussed emphatically. The obtained results show that, the maximum of electron mean energy (EME) appears in field ionization layer which moves towards the anode as time progresses, and its value decreases gradually. Within a pulse process, the electron density (ED) in cathode sheath almost keeps 0, and the maximum of ED appears in the outer layer of the cathode sheath. Among all reactions, R1 and R2 are regarded as the main process of electron proliferation, and R22 plays a dominant role in the dissipation process of electron. The obtained results will provide valuable insights to the physical mechanism of negative corona discharge in air.
The space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation affect the stability and security of oil-filled converter transformers of traditional and new energies. This paper presents the results of the electrical aging of oil-impregnated paper under AC-DC combined voltages by the pulsed electro-acoustic technique. Data mining and feature extractions were performed on the influence of electrical aging on charge dynamics based on the experiment results in the first stage. Characteristic parameters such as total charge injection and apparent charge mobility were calculated. The influences of electrical aging on the trap energy distribution of an oil-paper insulation system were analyzed and discussed. Longer electrical aging time would increase the depth and energy density of charge trap, which decelerates the apparent charge mobility and increases the probability of hot electron formation. This mechanism would accelerate damage to the cellulose and the formation of discharge channels, enhance the acceleration of the electric field distortion, and shorten insulation lifetime under AC-DC combined voltages.

In the traditional cellular network communication, the cellular user and the base station exchange information through the uplink channel and downlink channel. Meanwhile, device-to-device (D2D) users access the cellular network by reusing the channel resources of the cellular users. However, when cellular user channel conditions are poor, not only D2D user cannot reuse its channel resources to access the network, but also cellular user's communication needs cannot be met. To solve this problem, we introduced a novelty D2D communication mechanism in the downlink, which D2D transmitter users as half-duplex (HD) relays to assist the downlink transmission of cellular users with reusing corresponding spectrum. The optimization goal of the system is to make the cellular users in the bad channel state meet the minimum transmission rate requirement and at the same time maximize the throughput of the D2D users. In addition, i for the purpose of improving the efficiency of relay transmission, we use two-antenna architecture of D2D relay to enable receive and transmit signals at the same time. Then we optimized power of base station and D2D relay separately with consideration of backhaul interference caused by two-antenna architectures. The simulation results show that the proposed HD relay strategyis superior to existing HD and full-duplex (FD) models in the aspects of system throughput and power efficiency.

As a power transmission element, the timing belt is a toothed transmission belt that takes advantages of V-belts and gears. It has characteristics of non-slip and low noise. It is used as a power transmission device when transmitting power from a rotating shaft or linear motion in a mechanism. Rotation can be accurately transmitted through a belt pulley with grooves like a gear and a timing belt with grooves to precisely match with the belt pulley. In particular, in the mechanism in which the timing belt is used for the output shaft, the dynamic characteristics including the rigidity of the timing belt determine the transmission characteristics of the system, so its importance increases. In this paper, a stiffness reinforced belt that can be applied to a timing belt with a limited range of motion to increase its stiffness is proposed. To study the dynamic characteristics of the stiffness reinforced belt, the equation of motion for the stiffness reinforced belt was established, and a simulation model for the stiffness reinforced belt was created and analyzed. In order to confirm the analysis results of the motion equation and simulation model, a 1-axis rotation experimental equipment using a stiffness reinforcing belt was developed and the experiment was conducted. Through motion equations, simulation models, and experiment results, it was confirmed that the stiffness and dynamic characteristics of the timing belt could be improved by applying the proposed stiffness reinforcement belt.
