  • We propose Femto-cell power control scheme in HeNet with Game Theory. The Femto-cell which provide high quality with low power is issued by many benefits, however there is a bunch of interferences when many Femto-cells use overlapped bandwidth with Macro-cell. We defined base station of cellular networks and mobile users as players of Game Theory, and configured interference effect among each other as power utility function. Futhermore, we showed enhanced overall system performance, lower power usage and interference decrease by using optimal power.

  • This paper considers a downlink multi-carrier cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission, where no direct link exists between the far user and the base station (BS), and the communication between them only relies on the assist of the near user. Firstly, the BS sends a superimposed signal of the far and the near user to the near user, and then the near user adopts simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) to split the received superimposed signal into two portions for energy harvesting and information decoding respectively. Afterwards, the near user forwards the signal of the far user by utilizing the harvested energy. A minimum data is required to ensure the quality of service (QoS) of the far user. We jointly optimize power allocation, subcarrier allocation, time allocation, the power allocation (PA) coefficient and the power splitting (PS) ratio to maximize the number of data bits received at the near user under the energy causality constraint, the minimum data constraint and the transmission power constraint. The block-coordinate descent method and the Lagrange duality method are used to obtain a suboptimal solution of this optimization problem. In the final simulation results, the superiority of the proposed NOMA scheme is confirmed compared with the benchmark NOMA schemes and the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.

  • We have studied DC energy conversion of RF card by wireless communication. In order to attain an objective, it used the system which is a Rectenna. The main purpose of energy conversion system is the operation of the circuits at RF-ID system. The proposed RF-ID system is a lot classified with the reader and tag. Reader is a kind of the base station role supporting RF energy. And priority tag convert RF energy from the reader it was delivered with a wireless to DC energy. The energy which is converted like Tag. It transmits to the reader characteristic ID of each card. The tag is mainly divided into rectifier, power module, memory and controller. The FRAM maintains the data like a ROM in no-power situation. And the advantage is a low power element compared with other EEPROM. There are two considerations, when RF energy is converted into DC source by wireless. One is energy amount supported from the reader, the other is high power efficiency. This paper presents a study of simulation and experiments on the RF-DC conversion circuit in tag by the power efficiency concentrated.

  • Photovoltaic power generation is currently being recognized as one of the most popular sources for renewable resources over the country. Although it is also being adapted to rural area for may reasons, it is important to estimate the magnitudes of power outputs with reliable statistical methodologies, while applying historical daily solar energy data, for correct feasibility analysis. In this study, one of the well-known statistical methodologies is employed to define the appropriate probability distributions for monthly power outputs for the selected rural area, county of Seo-san, province of Chungnam. The results imply that the assumption of normal distributions for several months may lead to incorrect decision-making and therefore lead to the unreliable feasibility analysis. Generalized beta and triangular distributions were found to be superior to normal distribution, when describing monthly probability distributions for daily photovoltaic power. Based on the appropriate distributions resulted from this study, Monte Carlo simulation technique was also applied to provide additional flexible information for the relevant decision makers. This study found out new finding that the probability distributions should be considered to make planning of the photovoltaic power system in rural village unit, in order to give reasonable economic analysis to the decision makers.

  • This paper proposes a payment-based power control scheme using non-cooperative game with a novel pricing function in cognitive radio networks (CRNs). The proposed algorithm considers the fairness of power control among second users (SUs) where the value of per SU' signal to noise ratio (SINR) or distance between SU and SU station is used as reference for punishment price setting. Due to the effect of uncertainty fading environment, the system is unable to get the link gain coefficient to control SUs' transmission power accurately, so the quality of service (QoS) requirements of SUs may not be guaranteed, and the existence of Nash equilibrium (NE) is not ensured. Therefore, an alternative iterative scheme with sliding model is presented for the non-cooperative power control game algorithm. Simulation results show that the pricing policy using SUs' SINR as price punishment reference can improve total throughput, ensure fairness and reduce total transmission power in CRNs.

  • In wireless packet networks, energy and wireless resource efficiency is critical issue to addressed for wide deployment. To achieve the both goals of saving the mobile station's energy and increasing the wireless capacity, transmission power control is introduced to wireless packet networks. In the transmission power controled networks, it is not deeply studied on unfairness among transmissions with different power levels that reaches starvation. Through the performance analysis, this paper explains the throughput unfairness of high power transmission with the unfair media access probability owing to the contending node number difference and proposes a simple PHY-MAC cross layer approach.

  • This research article introduces a study regarding the uncertainties treatment during severe accidents for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs). The present study is focused upon the unmitigated Station BlackOut (SBO) accident analysis for a CANada Deuterium Uranium (CANDU) type reactor emphasizing the impact of the uncertainties treatment on the relevant key timings of the SBO accident progression through different approaches for the uncertainty parameters' Probabilistic Distribution Functions (PDFs). A comparison between the sensitivity analysis results is provided in the present research study. The uncertainty analysis is performed with the RELAP/SCDAPSIM code with the Integrated Uncertainty Analysis (IUA) package from the code. Results from the research would support the advancements on the best-practices for uncertainty analyses with respect to the parameter's uncertainties distribution functions. Data dispersion is a key element for the realistic quantification of uncertainties in nuclear power plant safety analyses, including severe accidents.

  • In recent years, there is an increasing demand for DC microgrid because the digital load due to DC increases and the efficiency of the distribution system increases due to loss of conversion losses and conversion stages due to reactive power compared to AC distribution. Currently, with the support of the KEPRI, the development of an electronic large-capacity circuit breaker for DC distribution protection, which has been underway since 2016, is proceeding. In this paper, as a part of this project, we modeled the DC microgrid connected with PV using PSCAD. The converter station, AC/DC converter control, PV and MPPT controller are designed. In order to evaluate the performance of the modeled DC microgrid, it is examined whether the voltage is adjusted according to the load variation.

  • This paper presents the impact of Japanese radio source on the S-Band communication between KOMPSAT-2 satellite and TT&C ground system. Major specifications such as transmitting EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) and location of Japanese terrestrial station were informed from Radio Research Laboratory in Korea Communication Commission. To estimate path loss in S-Band, the distance between Japanese station and TT&C ground system was obtained by using COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) software. After that the signal strength of Japanese radio source placed at the TT&C ground system was calculated from link parameters such as transmitting EIRP, path loss, and receiving antenna gain. Consequently, this paper shows that the degradation caused by Japanese radio source is acceptable to TT&C ground system for satellite operation.
