  • Recently over dropped frequencies of power system were recorded when power system was unbalanced between generation and demand. Therefore load following characteristic analysis of thermal and combined cycle power plant generators is necessary for low frequency condition analysis of power system. Frequency simulator supplies simulated frequency to the online generator for prescribed goal. This simulator needs to minimize effects to power system and requires stability first. This paper introduces design and manufacturing case of frequency simulator for load following characteristic analysis of generators.

  • The advance of traction motor control technology and the complexity of the traction power supply system makes the simulation essential in determining the dimension of the traction power supply system. The conventional method, use of the simplified and/or empirical equations, becomes inadequate in optimization of the design. The simulator presented in this paper is a numerical time based simulator running on a PC. The input to the simulator includes the track data, the train characteristic, network data and operating data. Basically the simulator conducts train running simulation and loadflow study repeatedly. The principle algorithms and its output is discussed in the paper.

  • This paper describes the development of training simulator for Hadong fossil Power Plant. The simulator was developed to train operator, test new control Logic and evaluate alternative operating procedure for expert engineer of control system. The most control logics such as Siemens TELEPERM ME and GE Mark V are translated directly from microprocessors. Those HMI are also directly emulated. The simulation was performed by ProTRAX modeling software. The paper discusses the configuration of simulator and the simulation results of 30%, 50%, 75% and 100% normal rate load test.

  • This paper describes the development of integrated simulator for traction power supply system with GUI (Graphic User Interface). This simulator consists of a lot of calculation modules such as TPS, time table, line constant, and power supply system analysis. Each module has input and output structure respectively. The proposed simulator is tested on both high speed railway line and metropolitan subway line. The test has confirmed the function of the developed simulator.

  • This paper deals with the development and testing of a large-scale, realtime digital power system simulator for the Korean Electric Power Corporation. The KEPS Simulation Center is located at KEPCO's research center (KEPRI) in Taejon, South Korea and has been operated since September 2001. The KEPS Simulation Center includes a wide range of off line power system simulation and analysis tools, as well as an advanced realtime digital simulator for the study of large scale AC and DC system performance. Because the application scope of the KEPS realtime simulator is broad and because the network models being considered are significantly larger and more complex than in traditional realtime simulator applications, many developments and tests have been required during the course of the project. In this paper, the authors describe some of these developments and present results from various benchmark tests that have been performed.

  • The maximum power analysis simulator took advantage of the facilities and power consumption reduction simulator test scenario development and testing of improvement in the scenario. As a maximum demand power controller, Maximum power analysis simulator performs control and disperasion of maximum demand power by calculating base power, load forecast, and present power which are based on signal of watt-hour meter to keep the electricity under the target. In addition, various algorithms to select appropriate control methode on each of the light installations through the peak demand power is configured to management. The simulation shows the success of control power for the specified target controlled by five sequential lighting installations.

  • This paper presents a development of the auxiliary power supply simulator for a electric rolling stock. An auxiliary power supplies are required for operating air conditioning units, ventilation fans, lighting and battery charging. Traditionally this function has been fulfilled by Motor-Alternator sets. In recent years, high performance of semiconductor and micro processor, availability and price have made three phase voltage source inverters as an attractive alternative to MA Sets. From the baseline model of the SIV(Static InVerter) for electric rolling stock, we designed the scale down model of the auxiliary power supply simulator consisting of an IGBT three phase voltage source inverter. The auxiliary power supply simulator can be used educatory purpose for training efficiently about operating principles of SIV.

  • This paper describes a load simulator with power-recovery capability, which is based on the voltage source converter-inverter set. The load simulator described in this paper can save the electric energy that should be consumed to test the operation and performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator. The load simulator consists of a converter-inverter set with a DSP controller for system control and PWM pulse generation. The converter operates as a universal load to model the linear load and the non-linear load, while the inverter feed the energy back to the power source with harmonic compensation. The load simulator can be widely used in the lab to test the performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator.

  • This paper focuses on development of load test simulator of a steam turbine-generator in a nuclear power plant. When load is taken off from electrical power network, it is very difficult to effectively control the steam flow to turbine of the nuclear turbine-generator, because of disturbances, such as electrical load and network unbalance on electrical network. Up to the present time, the conventional control system has been used for the load control on nuclear steam generator, owing to the easy control algorithms and the advantage which have been proven on the nuclear power plant. However, since there are problems with stability control during low power and start-up, only a highly experienced operator can operate during those procedures. Also, a great deal of time and an expensive simulator is needed for the training of an operator. The KEPRI is developed simulator for 600MW nuclear power plant to take a test of generator load rejection, throttle valve, and turbine load control. Total load test is implemented before start up.
