Sensitivity analysis of failure correlation between structures, systems, and components on system risk

  • A seismic event caused an accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, which further resulted in simultaneous accidents at several units. Consequently, this incident has aroused great interest in the safety of nuclear power plants worldwide. A reasonable safety evaluation of such an external event should appropriately consider the correlation between SSCs (structures, systems, and components) and the probability of failure. However, a probabilistic safety assessment in current nuclear industries is performed conservatively, assuming that the failure correlation between SSCs is independent or completely dependent. This is an extreme assumption; a reasonable risk can be calculated, or risk-based decision-making can be conducted only when the appropriate failure correlation between SSCs is considered. Thus, this study analyzed the effect of the failure correlation of SSCs on the safety of the system to realize rational safety assessment and decision-making. Consequently, the impact on the system differs according to the size of the failure probability of the SSCs and the AND and OR conditions.

  • A self-diagnostic monitoring system is a system that has the ability to measure various physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, or acceleration from sensors scattered over a mechanical system such as a power plant, in order to monitor its various states, and to make a decision about its health status. We have developed a self-diagnostic monitoring system for an air-operated valve system to be used in a nuclear power plant. In this study, we have tried to improve the self-diagnostic monitoring system to increase its reliability. We have implemented three different machine learning algorithms, i.e., logistic regression, an artificial neural network, and a support vector machine. After each algorithm performs the decision process independently, the decision-making module collects these individual decisions and makes a final decision using a majority vote scheme. With this, we performed some simulations and presented some of its results. The contribution of this study is that, by employing more robust and stable algorithms, each of the algorithms performs the recognition task more accurately. Moreover, by integrating these results and employing the majority vote scheme, we can make a definite decision, which makes the self-diagnostic monitoring system more reliable.

  • This study examined the predictive power of data mining algorithms by comparing the performance of logistic regression and decision tree algorithm, called CHAID (Chi-squared Automatic Interaction Detection), On the contrary to the previous studies, decision tree performed better than logistic regression. We have also developed a CDSS (Clinical Decision Support System) with three modules (doctor, nurse, and patient) based on data warehouse architecture. Data warehouse collects and integrates relevant information from various databases from hospital information system (HIS ). This system can help improve decision making capability of doctors and improve accessibility of educational material for patients.

  • The power expansion planning is large and capital intensive capacity planning. In the past, the expansion planning was established with the proper supply reliability in order to minimize social cost. However, the planning not used cost minimizing objective function in the power markets with many market participants. This paper proposed the power expansion planning model using multi-criteria decision rule. This model used multi objective function considering not only cost minimizing but also GENCO's intension. This paper compared proposed model with WASP model in order to verify the result of proposed model.

간호대학생의 환자안전관리 수행자신감에 미치는 영향요인 (The Factors Affecting Self-Confidence in Performing Patient Safety Management Nursing students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 환자안전관리 수행자신감에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하기 위해 실시되었다. 분석결과 환자안전관리 지식 7.0점, 환자안전관리 태도 3.86점, 임상의사결정능력 3.47점, 환자안전관리 수행자신감 4.15점이었다. 환자안전관리 수행자신감은 환자안전관리 지식(r=.216, p<.01)과 환자안전관리 태도(r=.375, p<.01), 임상의사결정능력(r=.467, p<.01)과 양의 상관관계가 있었다. 환자안전관리 수행자신감에 미치는 영향요인은 임상의사결정능력(β=.409, p<.001)과 환자안전관리 태도(β =.198, p=.011) 이었고 설명력은 26.3%이었다.

  • The focus on the issues surrounding spent nuclear fuel and lifetime extension of old nuclear power plants continues to grow nowadays. A transparent decision-making process to identify the best suitable nuclear fuel cycle (NFC) is considered to be the key task in the current situation. Through this study, an attempt is made to develop an equilibrium model for the NFC to calculate the material flows based on 1 TWh of electricity production, and to perform integrated multicriteria decision-making method analyses via the analytic hierarchy process technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution, preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluation, and multiattribute utility theory methods. This comparative study is aimed at screening and ranking the three selected NFC options against five aspects: sustainability, environmental friendliness, economics, proliferation resistance, and technical feasibility. The selected fuel cycle options include pressurized water reactor (PWR) once-through cycle, PWR mixed oxide cycle, or pyroprocessing sodium-cooled fast reactor cycle. A sensitivity analysis was performed to prove the robustness of the results and explore the influence of criteria on the obtained ranking. As a result of the comparative analysis, the pyroprocessing sodium-cooled fast reactor cycle is determined to be the most competitive option among the NFC scenarios.

대학생의 취업스트레스, 진로결정 자기효능감 및 사회적 지지가 정신건강에 미치는 영향 (The Impacts of Job-Seeking Stress, Career Decision-Making self Efficacy and Social Support on mental health of University Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 취업스트레스, 진로결정 자기효능감 및 사회적 지지가 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. 자료 수집은 J도에 소재한 3개 대학의 대학생 429명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 24.0 프로그램을 이용하여, t-test, ANOVA, 피어슨 상관분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과 정신건강은 취업스트레스와 양의 상관관계를 보였으며, 진로결정 자기효능감 및 사회적 지지와 통계적으로 유의한 음의 상관관계를 보였다. 정신건강에 영향을 미치는 변인은 취업스트레스, 사회적 지지 순으로 나타났으며, 설명력은 48.9%이었다. 대학생의 정신건강을 증진시키기 위하여 영향요인인 취업스트레스를 고려한 정신건강 증진 방안을 개발하고 적용할 필요가 있다고 사료된다. 또한, 정신건강을 위한 지원체계를 확립하고 유지하는 것이 중요하다.

간호대학생의 감염관리 인지도, 진로결정자기효능감 및 비판적 사고성향이 감염관리 수행도에 미치는 영향요인 (The Influencing Factor of Awareness of Infection Control, Career Decision Making Self Efficacy and Critical Thinking Disposition on the Performance of Infection Control in Nursing Students)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 감염관리 인지도, 진로결정자기효능감 및 비판적 사고성향이 감염관리 수행도에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하고자 시도하였다. 대상자는 D시와 K시에 소재한 4개 대학 간호학과 3, 4학년 404명이었다. 자료는 2018년 11월 5일부터 12월 21일까지 자가보고식 설문조사로 수집되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 17.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, 독립집단 t-test, one-way ANOVA, 사후분석은 Duncan's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple regression analysis로 분석하였다. 감염관리 인지도는 평균 4.75점, 진로결정자기효능감은 평균 3.02점, 비판적 사고성향은 평균 4.73점, 감염관리 수행도는 평균 4.46점이었다. 간호대학생의 감염관리 수행도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 연령, 감염관리 인지도 및 진로결정자기효능감으로 나타났으며, 설명력은 38.6%였다. 따라서 간호 대학생의 감염관리 수행도를 강화하기 위하여 감염관리 인지도와 진로결정자기효능감을 향상하기 위한 교육프로그램개발이 필요하다.

인터넷 영역에서의 윤리적 의사결정에 대한 국가문화의 영향 : 탐색적 분석 (The Effects of National Culture on Ethical Decision-Making in the Internet Context : An Exploratory Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 인터넷 영역에서 개인의 윤리적 의사결정에 대한 국가문화의 영향을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 다섯 개의 도덕철학 변수들인 정의주의, 상대주의, 이기주의, 공리주의, 그리고 의무론이 개인의 윤리적 판단에 영향을 미치며, 이 윤리적 판단은 행위의도에 영향을 미친다는 윤리적 의사결정 모형이 제시되었고, 이 윤리적 의사결정 모형에 대하여 홉스테드의 다섯 가지의 국가문화 차원들인 권력격차, 개인주의, 남성성, 불확실성 회피, 그리고 장기 지향성의 영향을 분석하였다. 연구결과 인터넷 영역에서 권력격차, 개인주의, 그리고 남성성은 의무론과 윤리적 판단 간의 관계에 영향이 있었으며, 개인주의, 남성성, 그리고 불확실성 회피는 정의주의와 윤리적 판단 간의 관계에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 개인주의와 장기 지향성은 윤리적 판단과 행동의도 간의 관계에 유의한 영향이 있는 것을 보여 주었다.

환경 쟁점 수업에서 찬반토론이 학생들의 의사 결정에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pro-Con Discussion on Students' Decisions in a Class Introducing Environmental Issues)

  • This study was aimed at finding what effects pro-con discussion classes have on students' environmental decisions and set a series of research questions as follows. First, in a small group discussion, how a student's environmental decision is affected by opinions of other students in the same group. Second, what would be the relations between a students' personal factors including gender, environmental knowledge, attitude, and behavior and their decisions. A decisional experiment was applied to 185 students consisting of 2 girl classes and 4 boy classes of K highschool located in Kongju City, Chungnam. These students were taking 'Ecology and Environment' as one of the few general selective subjects once a week. Decision issue introduced to the experiment was regarding of constructing a wind power station on Baekdu Mountains which is protected by the law. This issue can be characterized as not conflict between conservation and development but conflict between two different types of environment friendly approaches that make students experience more difficult while making a decision. The results of this study an be summarized as follows. First, after taking the class introducing environmental issues and having a debate other students on the issue both within a small group or all classmates together, just less then 30% of the students changed their selections. Second, students were found to be affected by other students' opinion while making his or her own decision. Third, no relationship was found to be statistically considerable between students decisions and their personal factors except of their courses, liberal or science.
