  • In this paper, a new block-matching algorithm for standard video encoder is proposed. The algorithm finds a motion vector using the increasing SAD transition curve for each predefined candidates, not a coarse-to-fine approach as a conventional method. To remove low-probability candidates at the early stage of accumulation, a dispersed accumulation matrix is also proposed. This matrix guarantees high-linearity to the SAD transition curve. Therefore, base on this method, we present a new fast block-matching algorithm with the slice competition technique. The Candidate Selection Step and the Candidate Competition Step makes an out-performance model that considerably reduces computational power and not to be trapped into local minima. The computational power is reduced by 10%~70% than that of the conventional BMAs. Regarding computational time, an 18%~35% reduction was achieved by the proposed algorithm. Finally, the average MAD is always low in various bit-streams. The results were also very similar to the MAD of the full search block-matching algorithm.

  • In this paper, a new block-matching algorithm for standard video encoder is presented. The slice competition method is proposed as a new scheme, as opposed to a coarse-to-fine approach. The order of calculating the SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) to fad the best matching block is changed from a raster order to a dispersed one. Based on this scheme, the increasing SAD curve during its calculation is more linear than that of other curves. Then, the candidates of low probability can be removed in the early stage of calculation. And new MV prediction technique with an adaptive search range scheme also assists the proposed block-matching algorithm. As a result, an average of 13% improvement in computational power is recorded by only the proposed MV prediction technique. Synthetically, the computational power is reduced by 3977∼77% than that of the conventional BMAs. The average MAD is always low in various sequences. The results are also very close to the MAD of the full search block-matching algorithm.

  • This paper compare the performance of CM-MMA (Constellation Matching-MMA) and RMMA (Region-based MMA) blind equalization algorithm for improve the QoS by minimizing the intersymbol interference that is occurred in nonlinear communication channel when transmitting the QAM signal. In the tap coefficient update for adaptive, CM-MMA use the error of nonconstant modulus signal adding the current MMA cost fuction and constellation matching error terms of sinusoidal power function, and the RMMA use the error by transfoms the nonconstant modulus signal of equalizer output constellation to 4-QAM constant modulus signal. They has different equalization performance by these error signal, it were compared in this paper by simulation, and performance index such as output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, SER curves are applied for this. As a result of computer simulation, the RMMA has more better performance in the every performance index, convergence speed, residual value, noise robustness compared to CM-MMA.

  • In this paper, a wideband MMIC LNA was designed using low Q matching network. Gains of 9.8~12.2 ㏈, and noise figures of 1.7~2.1 ㏈ were obtained from the fabricated wideband MMIC LNA in the frequency ranges of 1.5~2.5㎓. And maximum output power of 10.83 ㏈m were obtained at the center frequency of 2 ㎓. The chip size of the fabricated wideband MMIC low noise amplifier is 1.4 mm$\times$1.4 mm.

  • A transformer feedback low-noise amplifier (LNA) is implemented in a standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, which exploits drain-to-gate transformer feedback technique for wideband input matching and operates across entire 3~5 GHz ultra-wideband (UWB). The proposed LNA achieves power gain above 9.5 dB, input return loss less than 15.0 dB, and noise figure below 4.8 dB, while consuming 8.1 mW from a 1.8-V supply. To the authors' knowledge, drain-to-gate transformer feedback for wideband input matching cascode LNA is the first adopted technique for UWB application.

  • The impedance characteristics and plasma parameters were experimentally studied in a weakly magnetized planar type, inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system. Compared with non-magnetized for system higher power transfer efficiency, stable impedance matching, enhancement of plasma density and higher electron temperature can be obtained. Such improvements are mainly due to the excitation of deeply penetrating electromagnetic wave and reduction of radial loss of electrons. In particulary, $SF_6$ (sulfur hexafluride) plasma shows unstable impedance matching in non-magnetized ICP because electronegativity of $SF_6$ effects on plasma characteristics. But, magnetized inductively coupled $SF_6$ plasma shows enough impedance matching stability to be applicable to the polysilicon etching in semiconductor process.

  • Matching transformer in Dynamic Voltage Compensator is needed for grid connection and isolation. Flux saturation in transformer will be occurred by voltage of transformer from inverter and DC offset voltage and flux saturation makes over current in transformer. In this paper, mathematical modeling of matching transformer is proposed for flux saturation simulation of Dynamic Voltage Compensator.

  • A jig-saw puzzle matching technique is proposed. Specifically, the geometric patterns of the puzzle pieces are firstly extracted using a boundary tracking algorithm at low resolution. And then, features of the extracted pieces to describe jig-saw puzzle pieces such as angles and distances between corner points, and convexity or concavity of a corner point are obtained from some corner points implying discontinuity of curvature of puzzle pieces' boundary. Finally, a boundary matching algorithm without a priori information of matched puzzle is proposed.

  • [1] and [2] present an approach to diagnosing possible defects in the mechanical systems of a nuclear power plant. In this paper, by using a fault library as a database and training data, we develop a diagnostic algorithm 1) to decide whether an Air Operated Valve system is sound or not and 2) to identify the defect from which an Air-Operated Valve system suffers, if any. This algorithm is composed of three stages: a neural net stage, a non-neural net stage, and an integration stage. The neural net stage is a simple perceptron, a pattern-recognition module, using a neural net. The non-neural net stage is a simple pattern-matching algorithm, which translates the degree of matching into a corresponding number. The integration stage collects each output and makes a decision. We present a simulation result and confirm that the developed algorithm works accurately, if the input matches one in the database.
