Emergency operation plans are indispensable elements for effective process safety management especially when unanticipated events occur under extreme situations. In the paper, a synthesis framework is proposed for the integration success path planning and performance analysis. Within the synthesis framework, success path planning is implemented through flow-directed signal tracing, renaming and reconstruction from a complete collection of Minimal Path Sets (MPSs) that are obtained using graph traversal search on GO-FLOW model diagram. The performance of success paths is then evaluated and prioritized according to the task complexity and probability calculation of MPSs for optimum action plans identification. Finally, an Auxiliary Feed Water System of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR-AFWS) is taken as an example system to demonstrate the flow-directed MPSs search method for success path planning and performance analysis. It is concluded that the synthesis framework is capable of providing procedural guidance for emergency response and safety management with optimal success path planning under extreme situations.
The steam generator feedwater flow rate in a nuclear power plant was estimated by means of artificial neural networks with the wavelet analysis for enhanced information extraction. The fouling of venturi meters, used for steam generator feedwater flow rate in pressurized water reactors, may result in unnecessary plant power derating. The backpropagation network was used to generate models of signals for a pressurized water reactor. Multiple-input single-output heteroassociative networks were used for evaluating the feedwater flow rate as a function of a set of related variables. The wavelet was used as a low pass filter eliminating the noise from the raw signals. The results have shown that possible fouling of venturi can be detected by neural networks, and the feedwater flow rate can be predicted as an alternative to existing methods. The research has also indicated that the decomposition of signals by wavelet transform is a powerful approach to signal analysis for denoising.
The introduction of smart grid, which is an innovative application of digital processing and communications to the power grid, might lead to more and more cyber threats originated from IT systems. In other words, The Energy Management System (EMS) and other communication networks interact with the power system on a real time basis, so it is important to understand the interaction between two layers to protect the power system from potential cyber threats. This paper aims to identify and clarify the cyber security risks and their interaction with the power system in Smart Grid. In this study, the optimal power flow (OPF) and Power Flow Tracing are used to assess the interaction between the EMS and the power system. Through OPF and Power Flow Tracing based analysis, the physical and economic impacts from potential cyber threats are assessed, and thereby the quantitative risks are measured in a monetary unit.

In this paper. a network theory for generaltransmission systme was extended considering the direction of power flow. Also, a modified network model was suggested for a node with 4 shafts in order to verify the power flow. Based on the extended network theory, a simulation program was developed to analyze a hydro-mecaanical tranmission(HMT) system consistion of two hydrostatic pump motors, severeal planetary gear trains steer differential gear. The simulation result showed that the extendednotwork analysis program develped can predict the power circulation as well as the magnitude of torque and speed for each transmission element and can be used design tool for genaral power transmission system.

The Power Flow Analysis(PFA) can be effectively used to predict structural vibration in medium-to-high frequency range. In this paper, Power Flow Finite Element Method (PFFEM) based on PFA has been used to predict the vibration of an automobile door. The predicted results for the frequency response function of the door have been compared with corresponding experimental results. In the experiment, the automobile door has been divided into several subsystems and the loss factor of each subsystem has been measured. The input mobility at a source point has been also measured. The data for the loss factors and the input mobility have been used as the input data to predict the vibration of the automobile door with PFFEM. The frequency response functions have been measured over the surface of the door. The comparison between the experimental results and the predicted results for the frequency response functions showed that PFFEM could be an effective tool to predict the structural vibration.
In this paper, a wave-induced swirl water chamber (SWC) for breakwater and wave power generation is introduced and its applicability to wave power generation in the coastal waters of Korea is investigated. The SWC type of wave power generation is a way to drive a turbine using the unidirectional swirl flow that is induced in the back of a curtain wall of a breakwater due to incident waves. The typical wave characteristics are obtained by analyzing the annual statistical wave data from KHOA (Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration). A numerical analysis is carried out on the variations in the SWC entrance height, wave height, and different installation conditions. For the numerical analysis, a commercial code, Fluent based on FVM, is used. As the entrance height decreases, the mass flow rate through the entrance is rarely changed, whereas the magnitude of the flow velocity of the smaller entrance height is greater than the other ones, which is better for the formation of an SWC swirl flow inside and the flow kinetic energy at the entrance. In cases of installation conditions where a wall is place behind and under SWC, it has been shown that the mass flow rate through the entrance is greater than that in the open condition, and sufficient flow kinetic energy is generated in the entrance for wave power generation. However, the swirl flow kinetic energy is relatively small. Thus, in the future, it is necessary to study the swirl flow generation, which is affected by the SWC shape.
In this paper, the cause of the discrepancy of the inlet and outlet flow of the lubricating oil feed pump was analyzed by the flow measurement and the analysis of the flow network. At first, we thought that the flow difference was induced by a leak in the middle of the flow network. But, through the flow measurement using ultrasonic flow meter and the performance analysis of the pump, we knew that the cause of the flow difference was due to a drop in efficiency of the pump according to the pressure drop of the outlet. Also, we knew that the shape of the piping had no effect on the efficiency of the pump.
The computational flow analysis using LES technique was carried out to investigate the flow characteristics of a sirocco fan under the maximum flowrate condition. The commercial SC/Tetra software was used for this unsteady and three-dimensional numerical analysis. In consequence, because a flow is unstable within the range of about 50% of a housing depth from a bellmouth around the cutoff region, the passing flow through the blade cascade occurred on the X-Y plane is a slow or a reverse with approaching to the housing inlet. Also, the secondary flow shows on the radial plane of a housing, and its vortex center exists within about 33% of a housing depth from a bellmouth except the cutoff region. Moreover, the flow occurring on the exit plane of a sirocco fan shows a complex secondary flow.

This paper addresses improving the voltage stability limit of interface flow between two different regions in an electric power system using the Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC). The paper presents a power flow analysis model of a SSSC, which is obtained from the injection model of a series voltage source inverter by adding the condition that the SSSC injection voltage is in quadrature with the current of the SSSC-installed transmission line. This model is implemented into the modified continuation power flow (MCPF) to investigate the effect of SSSCs on the interface flow. A methodology for determining the interface flow margin is simply briefed. As a case study, a 771-bus actual system is used to verify that SSSCs enhance the voltage stability limit of interface flow.

This Paper suggests reasonable pricing mathod fur Reactive Power in Optimal Power Flow for the system analysis. Under restructuring, not only real power pricing but also reactive power pricing is important for the system analysis and operation. If people just focus on real power pricing, the Generators may no generate reactive power voluntarily, because the Generators may not recover the cost of the reactive power generation. So making a reasonable reactive power pricing is becoming more important than any other time. In this paper, the authors set a Proper Power factor and price the portion of the reactive power that exceeds the power factor using Interior Point Method. By applying this method, the System operator can use this strategy for the analysis of reactive power generation pricing and the Generator can get the motivation to generate reactive power. The author develops fully optimized fast Primal Dual Interior Point Method with sparsity technique and applies this method to Reliability Test System (RTS24) and KEPCO 674 bus system (684 buses. 1279 lines). It shows adaptability and usefulness.
