Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of power Doppler sonography in the detection of acute pyelonephritis. Materials and Methods: We performed gray scale sonography, power Doppler sonography, and $^{Tc-99m}DMSA$ scintigraphy of the kidney in 80 patients with symptoms suggesting upper urinary tract infection. All imaging studies were obtained within 4 days. On $^{Tc-99m}DMSA$ scintigraphy, decreased radioactivity or photopenic lesions were considered indicative of acute pyelonephritis. Triangular areas of decreased perfusion identified on power Doppler sonography were considered as parenchymal lesions of acute pyelonephritis. The results of gray scale sonography and power Doppler sonography were retrospectively analysed and compared with those of $^{Tc-99m}DMSA$ scintigraphy which was given as the standards of reference. Results: For 40(85%) of the 47 patients with scintigraphy-proven acute pyelonephritis, power Doppler sonography diagnosed this condition on the correct side. The acute pyelonephritis which was not revealed by power Doppler sonography was observed in seven patients. Also, in three patients, false-positive indication of pyelonephritis was given by power Doppler sonography. Gray scale sonography showed positive findings in 23(49%) of 47 patients with positive findings on scintigraphy. Conclusion: Power Doppler sonography seems to be less sensitive than $^{Tc-99m}DMSA$ DMSA scintigraphy but significantly more sensitive than gray scale sonography for the detection of acute pyelonephritis in children. Power Doppler sonography shows promise as a noninvasive means of assessing renal cortical perfusion in children with clinically suspected acute pyelonephritis.
In this paper, we have developed a device to reduce the standby power consumption that is unnecessarily consumed in unused electrical appliances. The Doppler sensor is used to automatically power off and power off the outlet depending on whether or not a person is present near the outlet. The Doppler sensor uses a coaxial cable trap to design a transmitting antenna and emits a 10 GHz band RF signal and receives a reflected wave signal whose wavelength is reflected from the target object to the receiver to detect an object and recognize human approach. It automatically cuts off and restores standby power to prevent unnecessary power consumption, saving energy and developing a standby power automatic shutdown and recovery device that can prevent the risk of large fires caused by leakage current.

In this study we calculate the infite multiplication factors ($k_{\infty}$) and the Doppler temperature coefficients (DTC) of two mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel rods with different plutonium contents by using PHOENIX-P, HELIOS and CASMO-3 codes. The results were compared against the reference values obtained by MCNP-3A continuous-energy Monte Carlo code. The purpose of this study is to benchmark the accuracy of these lattice codes. The PHOENIX-P's Doppler coefficients calculated were in good agreement with the MCNP results within the Monte-Carlo uncertainty band which is in the order of $\pm$ 10% for the Doppler coefficients..

Objective: To compare the clinical utility of contrast-enhanced color Doppler US in the differentiation of retinal detachment (RD) from vitreous membrane (VM) with that of various conventional US modalities, and to analyze the enhancement patterns in cases showing an enhancement effect. Materials and Methods: In 32 eyes examined over a recent two-year period, RD (n=14) and VM (n=18) were confirmed by surgery (n=28) or clinical follow-up (n=4). In all cases, gray-scale, color Doppler, and power Doppler US were performed prior to contrast injection, and after the intravenous injection of Levovist (Schering, Berlin) by hand for 30 seconds at a dose of 2.5 g and a concentration of 300 mg/mL via an antecubital vein, contrast-enhanced color Doppler US was performed. At Doppler US, the diagnostic criterion for RD and VM was whether or not color signals were visualized in membranous structures. Results: Diagnostic accuracy was 78% at gray-scale US, 81% at color Doppler US, 59% at power Doppler US, and 97% at contrast-enhanced color Doppler US. The sensitivity of color Doppler US to color signals in RD increased from 57% to 93% after contrast enhancement. The enhancement patterns observed were signal accentuation (n=3), signal extension (n=2), signal addition (n=3), and new signal visualization (n=5). Conclusion: Contrast-enhanced color Doppler US was the most accurate US modality for differentiating RD from VM, showing a significantly increased signal detection rate in RD.

In this paper, the effect of a Doppler Spread caused by a mobile station (MS) is analyzed for transparent mobile multi-hop relays (MMR) systems based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The exact expression of interchannel interference (ICI) power and the upper bounds of ICI power are derived for OFDM systems with cooperative MMR or non-coopeartive throughput enhancement (TE) MMR. Also, the exact signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and its lower bound as well as ICI power and its upper bound, derived in this paper, are evaluated by computer simulation with the OFDM parameter set used for mobile WiMax (WiBro) systems.
This study was performed to evaluate the usefulness of gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasonography, and to compare with radiography for detection of the repairing in experimentally induced bone defects in dogs. In 4 adult beagle dogs bilateral bone defects were created in 8 canine femurs as sized as 5 mm diameter. Mean detection time of the ultrasonographic endosteal callus formations(mean $14.25{\pm}2.31$ days) was significantly shorter than that of the radiographic opacity chanees(mean $23.50{\pm}2.27$ days) in the defected region. Mean time of the neovascularizd flow signal(mean $6.00{\pm}3.59$ days) from the power Doppler ultrasonographic examination was significantly shorter than that of gray-scale ultrasonographic findings. With these results, gray-scale ultransonography and power Doppler ultrasonography can be used for an early detection modality for bone healing.

In this paper, we propose a design of microwave motion detector using X-band doppler radar sensor to minimize the power consumption. To minimize the power consumption and implement battery operated system, pulse input with 2 KHz, 4% duty cycle is exerted on the doppler radar sensor. In order to simplify the process of working with ATmega2560 microcontroller unit, Arduino compatible board is designed and implemented. Arduino is open source hardware and many library software is published as open source tools. Smartphone app is also proposed and designed as a real-time user interface of the motion detector. The SQLite database on the Android mobile operating system is used for recording raw data of motion detection for post-processing job, such as fast Fourier transform (FFT). Bluetooth interface module is implemented on the motion detection board as a wireless communication interface to the smartphone. The speed of human movement is identified by post-processing FFT.

Purpose: This report presents a procedure for performing power Doppler ultrasound-guided sialography using the phenomenon of increased blood flow and illustrates its application to practical patient cases. Materials and Methods: The salivary gland was scanned using ultrasound equipment (GE LOGIQ5 Expert® device; GE Medical Systems, Milwaukee, WI, USA) to identify pathological findings related to the patient's chief complaint. To identify the orifice of the main duct, it should be cannulated using a lacrimal dilator. After inserting the catheter into the cannulated main duct, the position of the catheter within the duct was confirmed by ultrasound. A contrast agent was injected until the patient felt fullness, and ultrasound (B-mode) was used to confirm whether the contrast agent filled the main canal and secondary and tertiary ducts. Then, power Doppler ultrasound was performed to determine whether the salivary gland had increased blood flow. Results: In 2 cases in this report, a power Doppler ultrasound scan showed a significant increase in blood flow after contrast medium injection, which was not observed on a preoperative scan. Conclusion: Power Doppler ultrasound was found to be a simple, safe, and effective tool for real-time sialography monitoring.
A low power pulse Doppler radar should integrate a large number of data to provide a required maximum detectable distance. Doppler filter needs a window that has good out-of-bard rejection level to maintain high dynamic range. From these facts, we can apply decimation and presumming to increase the speed of Doppler processing. This Paper investigates the efficiencies of several decimation methods and the loss of presumming. And I propose a method to increase processing speed but to maintain the maximum detectable distance.
An ultrasound probe has a big impact on Doppler images even though it has very high risk of frequent function-breakdowns occurring in medical ultrasound scanners. This study experimentally analyses the impacts of an ultrasonic probe's defected elements on power & color Doppler images. The results show that, the bigger the size of defected probe elements is, and the closer a group of action elements is to the center, the more the brightness of images and the velocity of Doppler diminish. When elements' defects increase in color & power Doppler images, false images are formed to be mistaken for blood-vessel plaque in neighboring regions. Accordingly, whenever element defects are suspected, we need check-up process in B-mode. From this respective, it is advisable to have primary interest in a probe and carry out continuous probe QA for ultrasonography.
